Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are incredibly faithful recreations of the Gen 4 classics, but they are perhaps a little too faithful.

Yeah 6/10 is more than fair, I have found this game a bit of a chore, Diamond and Pearl where not great Pokemon games, even my boys (8 and 5) who LOVED Let's Go and SW+SH have hardly touched this game.

I appreciate some of the QOL changes, as they genuine are QOL changes, such as not needing a HM monster, but still needing HMs is a ball ache. Defog was an example of how the game doesn't tell you that you needed to collect this move, until it's too late, then it's back tracking back to go and get it, and back again.

I had Fly so the journey wasn't too bad, but my son didn't, again lack of guidance from the game, so he has to back track further which has killed the momentum for him, he hasn't touched it since the first week of launch.

Random encounters should stay a thing of the past as well, they're boring as hell. Obviously this game can't help it as that's how it was designed, but having to slog through grassy areas just to stop every 3 steps is hopefully a thing of the past for Pokemon.

One thing I do like that this game does better than Sw+SH is that you're not stopped every few minutes to watch some cut scene about a story I don't care about.

In terms of remakes these were terrible compared to previous remakes. Went from mega hyped to pass when more info started coming out.

i dont quite like the chibi approach, but i was ready to buy it, when i found out that they're just remakes of the base games.

i mean why?

I bought a switch lite last year just for when I travel with a few games like CTR and okami HD. But the best game so far is easily Spyro Reignited Trilogy.
