The Gunk Review - TheXboxHub

Dave writes: "This is an astonishingly immersive and good-natured fable, and we relished returning to it whenever we were away. It may not be long, it may not do anything groundbreaking, but The Gunk radiated good feelings whenever we picked up the pad."

It looks like an 8 tops, but... it may surprise me.

Its not more than a 6.5/10 for me,Gameplay is a 6.5, graphics is a 6.It does not look Next gen in anyway on Series X.When compared with for exemple Psychonauts 2 is even lower than a 6.It takes too long to engage the player and than it finnish to fast without letting you Enjoy truly the gain evolution of the Gameplay .Comparing it to Fable is so out of Touch!

The game has a 71% on Metacritc.

Windows Central 90%
XboxHub 90%
Xbox Achievements 75%
Xbox Tavern 73%

It's interesting to see that predominantly Xbox adjacent websites give it higher than average score. The highest score it got when you take away Windows Central and XboxHub is an 8.

There is a reason people can't trust reviews anymore and this is one of them.

9 from the Gaming Boulevard too.

GhostofHorizon896d ago

Their review is not on Metacritic.

Not really what you'd said but alright!

There we go, sorry about that. Just want to be as clear as possible.

And other sites not with the anything Microsoft related in their name also gave 80s - 90s scores.

The last two go in line with the overall metric. There's highly solid reviews, as well as fairly scathing.

I'm somebody who isn't really enjoying it, though I haven't gotten to the apparently solid middle it has. My opinion will probably lighten if so. But your logic is so flawed. There's two above the average scores that happen to be from MS focused sites.
The other two literally fall in line with the general consensus.

GhostofHorizon896d ago

Please explain to me how my logic is flawed. All of the Xbox adjacent sites gave it a score above the average (71%) there is no logic here, just facts. The last two are close but they are still above average whether you would like them to be or not.

I never said only Xbox adjacent sites gave it a higher score because other sites clearly gave it above average. It would be incorrect to say that.

I actually think the game looks interesting and will probably play it once/if it comes to Playstation but I noticed a trend and pointed it out.

MadLad895d ago

Because you're getting all up in arms over the score for a game that is ranging from 6s to 8s. The average is a 7.
You point out 4 reviews that happen to be from MS focused sites and claim they're inflating the score, when two of those are ever so slightly above the average.

You're making a giant deal out of literally nothing. You're creating a big conspiracy theory over an average game getting an average metric.
What's the point? Do you just want the game to be downright bad in the eyes of people looking at reviews?

The game isn't making waves either way. You can chill out a bit lol.
