DICE Producer explains the beta process, and why gamers aren't testing the latest build of Battlefield 2042. Says hostility is why devs don't interact more.
EA:
While we’ve enjoyed and are proud of creating these seasons of additional content for Battlefield 2042, it is now necessary for us to turn from the present to the future. What this ultimately means is that Season 7 will serve as the final season for Battlefield 2042. After Season 7 concludes, we will continue to support the game with new in-game challenges, events, modes, and of course, ongoing maintenance, but we are moving away from delivering official seasons.
Streamer Shroud says that DICE paid 60 to a hundred content creators to help develop Battlefield 2042, but ignored every single advice.
No wonder the game ended up the way it did
What they should've done was ask BF fans. Most general content creators typically go for the trend and the top creators stream games like LOL, fortnite, dota, gtaV, battle royale etc.
I’ll give some advice and take money for it. You can use it or not use it just make sure to pay me
Battlefield fans just want Battlefield to be Battlefield. Which means a focus on Conquest-mode (5/6 flags), some gorgeous and fun maps to play on, 4 balanced classes, and that's it.
The suits keep wanting to turn Battlefield into everything else BUT Battlefield, so first they wanted BF to be more like Call of Duty, so they copied a bunch of stuff from CoD. Then they wanted to take advantage of the Battle Royale stuff, so they went after that crowd. Then they saw the heroes stuff in Overwatch and so they brought in specialists. Etc.
Guys, we just want Battlefield. Not every games has to be everything to all people. Specialize in what makes (made) your series great, which is large(r) maps (appropriate size for the amount of players, which IMO should be 24-32 max, so not just big for bragging brights), integrating vehicle-combat, and just allowing the freedom and flow which made those matches in older Battlefield games so special at times.
Battlefield 2042's Season 7 patch has not only brought in new content, but also Battle Pass progression bugs and Haven map freezing issues.
With the removal of classes & this being the first gameplay slice the general consumer has to "assess" overall gameplay, I think It's right to "critique" the blanded removal of classes & the bundled messy addition that is specialists, you can't have RPG/repair tool. (one of many examples)
BF 3 2011 > BF 4 2013 > BF HL 2015 > BF 1 2016 > BF V 2018
It's perplexing as to why they tear down the overall (what worked) each time on each installment, No, I'm not asking to "codify" the BF experience, when purchasing something new, It needs to feel/look new.
Yesterday + Today The servers were liquified & hit registration went out the window, which for any gamer will make'em go from 0-100 In 0.2s flat, It's fair at this point that the servers EA use for all their IP's suck, badly.
Dealing with any gaming community is basically handling a double-edged sword, understand the difference between constructive criticism/feedback to just spewing caps "THEY'VE RUINED IT".
People are taking the cake out of the oven, but its still got 40 days of baking time left, the beta allows you to make an Informed decision on yay/nay purchase, hopefully, Dice can throw out some clips/pics of the much-needed revisions to the Ui & discuss PS5/overall performance improvements.
its a solid B+ from me, getting rid of classes is great idea, why cant i be a sniper and a medic at the same time, when you die they should just tell you the distance to the nearest medic and allow you to crawl, some action replays would be nice, it makes death a whole lot more interesting, the throwing of the hand grenade, call of duty has absolutely nailed this a long time ago, so its disappointing to see it done bad over and over again
an enemy tank came through a tunnel and rolled up beside me, it sounded like a fly had just rolled up beside me, i also noticed when parachuting, well, basically at no point did i feel like i was actually parachuting off a building, walking through the forest some nice bird sounds, but overall, not much jungle atmosphere, maybe its the constant chatter and the non stop distance rocket fire, overall the sound is fine, but i feel it should be a whole lot better
the whole bullet drop mechanic is really annoying, i have to aim 9 feet above them for a long distance shot, I'm sure battlefield veterans may even like this, but i see it as pointless in a fast paced arcade game, someone else mentioned, the lack of destruction and i have to agree its non-existent
In the past the Battlefield devs have been hostile over legitimate criticism.
Way to many haters that don’t understand what a beta means. I’ve seen the comments on some gaming market platforms and people are fucking cruel.
Playing the new beta hasn’t changed my opinion since I played the Alpha Playtest. Without a shadow of a doubt this is the worst battlefield they’ve ever made. I just can’t find anything positive about any aspect of the game at all. Absolute car crash.
