That's not good. Paywalling extra skilltrees on costumes in single player rpgs. It's almost like buying extra moves on fighting game except today we have to buy whole characters already.

PapaBop973d ago

Why potentially tarnish the release of a game that is supposedly very good? Not sure what the actual things the dlc gives and the advantages it can potentially offer but cosmetic dlc should remain cosmetic.

Sephiroushin972d ago

well they are no longer just cosmetics, they have skills (attacks/moves) that can only be aquired by buying the dlc ... the advantage ? not much but still no longer just cosmetics ...

Yi-Long972d ago

For me, DLC just means I’ll never buy the game at full price on launch. I usually wait for a ‘complete’ release somewhere down the line, or a big discount on the base-game, if I’m not much interested in the expansions.

Usually, DLC is about actual expansions (new chapters, locations, stories, characters) or just cosmetic, but here it actively (and negatively) affects the experience on the base-game, which means that because of this decision they made, it not only means I won’t buy it full price at launch, but I doubt I’ll ever pick the base-game up when it’s in the bargain-bin, because I know now that they’ll be dangling the DLC-milking in front of me during the game when I’m playing, which will severely ruin the experience for me.

DLC greed has made me spend LESS on (these) games, not more. It’s a shame how (some) developers will continue to choose to chip away from their own creations and thus negatively affecting its quality, just so they can nickel & dime their fans/customers into paying a couple of extra bucks to experience the game as it was originally intended to be played.

Very depressing.

ElvisHuxley973d ago

You can just avoid all of the DLC, and I plan to, but the fact that they kinda shove the option in your face so often, not just in the menus, but literally during the game (resting sequences, etc), is a bit glaring, and a bit too far IMO. Doesn't really do much to effect my enjoyment of the game, but I don't like the trend, slippery slope really is a thing.

Rachel_Alucard973d ago

I hate the fact the ultimate pack gives out exp multipliers and SP for free and you have to scroll down each section to see it. That shit shouldn't be in a genre that's about working to get stronger. Save that stuff for Assassins creed or something.

CrimsonWing69972d ago

I bought the boosters. Saved me grinding time.

Sephiroushin972d ago

at least on pc i find this useless people who really would like to use it, could just use trainers and call it a day ...

Tales of Arise Has Sold 3 Million Copies Before Releasing on Game Pass and PlayStation Plus

The beloved JRPG Tales of Arise has become available on Xbox and PC Game Pass and PlayStation Plus Game Catalogue today, but not before passing 3 million copies sold.

Knightofelemia80d ago (Edited 80d ago )

It's a great entry into the Tales franchise I enjoyed it. I just wonder if Namco will make a new Tales game. Or will they make a sequel or prequel to Arise. Like they have with past Tales games like Berseria being a prequel to Zestiria, Tales of Xillia got a sequel, Tales of Symphonia got a sequel even though it's crap. Either way I am excited for the next Tales game.

SeTTriP80d ago

Game was phenomenal to me it deserves the success.

Lexreborn280d ago

I would love a modern remake of Phantasia.

Shane Kim80d ago

I have slept om this series. First game was Arise and it was awesome. I just didn't like the end where they threw one mini boss after the other until the last boss.

Finally, Resistance: Retribution 🔥

It's an alright month overall. I think Sony should try to more consistently get some high quality indies Day 1 in the service, e.g. Ultros would have been good. Those have usually been some of the better months, e.g. Stray, Sea Of Stars, Tchia.

Shame that for this version of Outer Worlds, you can't import your save. 😔 Truly Spacer's Choice

darthv7287d ago

retribution was a cool game. It's the only one that allowed you to link a DS3 controller using Resistance 2 to play it (as far as i know). It was an interesting experiment that didnt offer 2nd analog support though but Im betting this version does.

Eonjay87d ago

Good point. One assumes that is the reason for the delay on releasing it.

ChasterMies87d ago

Joke’s on Outer Worlds Spacers Choice. I quit after the first planet in Outer Worlds.

MaximusPrime_87d ago

Glad I didn't buy NFS rebound. I expected this to be on PS Plus.

Unbound lol. N I got it for 15 physical, 🤷🏽. I'll take it. Jus got extra this year for $80, which is a great deal. If I can pay $80 on sale every year I'd stick with Extra. I don't mind buying a game but then it shows up here cause then I can download it to have it digitally but still have MY copy. Once they take it off I can still play it.

Eonjay87d ago (Edited 87d ago )

You can say what you want about day one purchases but besides that Plus really blows GamePass out of the water.

NFS, Outer Worlds and 4 different Tales of Games... and Retribution. And you throw the monthly games on top of that... its no competition.

BTW... how is it that no one realized that Microsoft could just put its games on Plus. No one seems to realize that Microsoft and Sony are now working to enrich each other. (Console ware is over)

darthv7287d ago

Sadly, Retribution is only for premium users... not us extra folk. I do have the original UMD, but it would be nice to get it digitally like i did with killzone liberation and stardust. Both of which i already owned digitally on my Go/Vita and it was cool when those were made available for the PS5 as then i could dl them.

Eonjay87d ago

This is one UMD I never had but thats really awesome you still have an original.

How can Game Pass be the best deal on gaming when it is more expensive than PS+?

badboyz0987d ago

Plus you need a platform to.

Petebloodyonion86d ago

Gamepass PC is way cheaper to PS+ and even way cheaper if you use MS rewards points

Redgrave87d ago

Is that Jet Moto 2, under Resistance? As of writing, it's just an image and no text.

Redgrave86d ago

It's been fixed, and yes it is

Toecutter0086d ago (Edited 86d ago )

Why is the Killzone series still M.I.A? I still love playing splitscreen co-op of KZ3.

MrBaskerville86d ago

They did release the psp top down shooter a while back. So it's not completely forgotten.

That’s cool. I bought in on a sale for like $15, or $20. Was gonna play it, but new games keep coming out. Now FF7 Rebirth is about to come out, so again I will have to push this til later.

I did play Scarlet Nexus on Gamepass, so it doesn’t surprise me that they will release this there to get a bit more income.

1UP-Words93d ago

I've been eyeing it up (and Scarlet Nexus) for ages so this is the perfect opportunity!
