Sabrent has created an optimised PS5 SSD heatsink for its Rocket Series SSDs

Sony recommends using a heatsink when you expand your PS5's storage. Sabrent has just created an SSD that's designed explicitly for PS5. Let's have a look.

slew of custom heatsink+ssd cover from China incoming

Orbilator974d ago

The trouble with that is, they don't necessarily do anything other than look like a heat sink. If I'm cooling my SSD I'd only buy from reputable sources. It's like buying a joypad at wish, the pic is defo no what your getting lol 😂🤣

And that's why you shall be a slave to the market and wont benefit from it

knockoffs are rarely even half the quality of the origin product. You have to buy the knockoff replacement too many times for it to be worth the cost savings.

Mkis.

Exactly my point mate. When will people learn

DazaMc974d ago

I thought the metal cover created an air seal making the fan suck air over the top of the SSD and its heatsink. There's going to be very little air passing over this.

--Onilink--974d ago

No, you are supposed to remove the metal cover when you install the ssd and heatsink, it doesnt go back on. Not to mention it was just a piece of metal held together by one screw, it will definitely not create any kind of seal, the heatsink come with adhesive material to stick to the ssd

mkis007974d ago

You aren't talking about the expansion slot cover on the ps5 itself are you? The instructions say to put that back on.

Ozzy2407974d ago (Edited 973d ago )

The cover goes back on The ps5 airflow is designed to go over the ssd slot

--Onilink--973d ago

Interesting, yeah I just saw the instructions. Had seen a couple of videos where they left if off, probably were using higher than allowed heatsinks.

kayoss973d ago

@Ozzy,
I think it depends on which heatsink you get. this one in the video, it acts as a heatsink and a cover.

Ok if you read and watch their video it is a heatsink and cover all in one. It directs the aurflow through the heatsink thus cooling their ssd. They have very good quality products, they know what they are doing.

But Sony said i need worship them, they said I have to use only their cover. My fanboy brain won't let me disobey my overlords. What is wrong with people on playstation these days? Did all the idiots from xbox come over to playstation with their micro transaction loving, pay to play online, and overpriced generic dlc crap. Oh yea i forgot they all migrated during the ps4 launch, now we can't get rid of these cockroaches.

frostypants973d ago

I have serious doubts that this heatsink actually cools any better than a non-PS5-specific one. Probably more a gimmick (for looks and a jacked up price) than anything.

Now all we need is for this to get out of Beta.......................... .........

Stellar Blade’s New Game+ Mode Is One Of The Best I’ve Seen

Stellar Blade is not a short game, but once you finish, you may want to head right back in given how good the New Game+ mode is.

blackblades3h ago

The problem with NG+ in general is that most time they arent worth doing. Nothing is really added but new difficulty. This games seems to do it right for replayability which is needed these day in games. You dont have to make a game longer story wise and dlc. Do what these guys did.
