1047 Games has delayed the Splitgate release date indefinitely, shifting its focus to improving the open beta and further increasing server capacity.
Following the end of feature development on Splitgate, the new game by 1047 Games set in the same universe will come in 2024 at the earliest.
1047 Games announced that the next Splitgate update will be the last major patch as the team is moving towards a totally new project.
I was hoping this one would have a longer dev cycle.
It's a lot of fun, but I guess the player count dropped.
While I'm sad to see development on Splitgate is being permanently stopped, I still have high hopes for this developer. They've shown they can make a good game, but now I hope they'll make a great game. A game that may even usurp Halo... not that that's a high bar to achieve or anything these days.
1047 Games CEO Ian Proulx explains what the company is trying to accomplish before sending Splitgate out of open beta.
Glad to see this game was a success with release on consoles
It's a balanced and really fun arena shooter, good to it getting the attention.
I have been playing the Splitgate beta. While I do find the game enjoyable, the weapons seem kinda bland. None of the guns stand out. Arena shooters like Halo, Quake, Unreal, Gears of War and Perfect Dark all have iconic guns [and other weapons].
This game is or WAS so fun. It’s unfortunate that it’s like it’s being held together by ice cream sticks and mud. Trying to log in daily, getting kicked off when you finally get on, and so forth just turned into so much of a hassle that I’m over it. Having a PS5, Series X, and switch makes it so there are a lot of things competing for my time that actually work. I don’t blame anyone for sticking with it though. It’s a fun game.
