With Ghost getting a DC and this getting a DC... what are the odds on Last of Us 2 DC?

VerminSC1042d ago

Last they said they weren’t working on story DLC. I think the multiplayer, in addition to factions 2, will have story elements (as they’ve hinted at before).

SullysCigar1042d ago

Yes, I'm hoping for a TLOU2 & Factions 2 bundle at some point.

TGGJustin1042d ago

I don't think you'll just see a TLOU2 one. I think it's possible that you see one that includes TLOU Remake + TLOU2 or TLOU2 + Factions.

ocelot071042d ago

I can see it happening. Would love a Days Gone DC with some new DLC. Currently playing it and its such a good game.

Kyizen1041d ago

Im playing now and enjoying it. Not sure I need DLC for an already large open world game. Its like I out 80 hours into Vahalla and have no interest in more since there is still stuff in the base game to do

MadLad1042d ago

Glad to see Sony continuing to double dip on virtually every big release they ever make.

darthv721042d ago

Not every... there is still no GoW DC or Days Gone DC or Horizon DC as of yet. (seeing as the new trend is to call remasters 'directors cut')

MadLad1042d ago (Edited 1042d ago )

I doubt we'll see Days Gone, being what was going on in the background of that one. The other 2, I don't see that happening either.
We already have the sequels on their way, so it would make sense to have put those out prior to the sequels; and we've heard nothing about a director's cut of them.

Just my take though.

I mean, I'm calling this out, but I'm still going to be buying Last of Us remake, even having bought the original and the remaster lol.
I buy into this stuff from time to time too.

Viking_mo1042d ago

I doubt we'll see god of war. Cory said he had an ambitious dlc in development but scrapped it

Baza1042d ago

Lol. Dude if you own the PS4 version upgrade is $10

Shiore2u1042d ago (Edited 1042d ago )

Imagine having to pay to use what you already own on something you just bought.
Modern consoles, not even once.

MadLad1042d ago

I'm going to try to make a point here. You can either agree with my point of view, or not.
Either way, fair.
There's a lot of people who haven't had the chance to grab a PS5.
So those stuck with the PS4, and bought it on the PS4, supported the thing from the beginning, seemingly have no access to the extra content.
I get that they won't be able to take advantage of the performance differences, and the potential haptic feedback.
If you're a huge fan of the game, you NEED to buy a PS5 to get the extra content.

Then, on the backend, they're reselling a game that, while not old, definitely saw the bulk of its sales; both PS4 and PC, at retail. So that's where I see it as a cash grab. The game isn't all that old, but let's find a way to make sure we can sell the thing at retail again.

Magic_Spatula1041d ago

@TheRealTedCruz
That's exactly it. I bought FF7 Remake Day 1 on PS4 because I'm a huge Final Fantasy fan and have been waiting like others for a remake. Now they announced and released a DLC and upgraded version and it's only available on PS5 alienating everyone who bought it on PS4 and can't afford or find a PS5 like myself. At least with Ghost of Tsushima, PS4 owners who don't have a PS5 can still get the upcoming expansion. I was gonna buy Death Stranding during the Steam Summer Sale but knowing I wouldn't have time to play it, I decided not to. Then they go and announce this. It'll probably eventually get a PC version too... maybe? This double dipping practice needs to die and die fast.

Christopher1041d ago

***Imagine having to pay to use what you already own on something you just bought.***

You can play it on PS5 w/o the upgrade, though.

***So those stuck with the PS4, and bought it on the PS4, supported the thing from the beginning, seemingly have no access to the extra content.***

This is what's truly wrong with this, IMHO. We can argue all day over whether it's right to charge $10 for PS5 tech/graphical upgrades, but locking content to just the PS5 when it's been on PS4 seems like the wrong thing to do to me.

Sayai jin1041d ago

That's just it, you shouldn't be paying for something you already own. Especially since your direct competitor does this for free, standard practice.

NeoGamer2321041d ago

LOL. Dude $10 is $10 more then games like A Plague Tale, Borderlands 3, Dead By Daylight, Descenders, Destiny 2, Doom Eternal, For Honor, Fortnite, Immortals, Marvel Avengers, Metro Exodus, Mortal Kombat 11, No Man's Sky, Rocket League, Star Wars Fallen Order, Elder Scrolls Online, Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Rainbow Six Siege, The Division 2, World of Tanks and World of Warships are charging for next gen updates.

The games getting Director cuts made a Sony a ton of money. It is disappointing that they are hiding next gen visual upgrades behind Director Cut versions. Even if the cost is only $10. But if you had 100 last gen games you want to upgrade that would $1,000 if everyone charged for the updates.

ocelot071041d ago

@Shiore2u

"Imagine having to pay to use what you already own on something you just bought.
Modern consoles, not even once"

But you can use Death Stranding on PS5 no problem?

swifty11042d ago

I mean, why not? Doesn’t sony run a business, a business meant to MAKE MONEY. There’s a demand for “updated” visuals/frame rate/ fast loading times in big games that came out recently, so why not make them available? Call it double dipping but in the end everything boils down to 1 thing. $$$

MadLad1042d ago

I don't know.
I'm a consumer, not a multinational corporation.
I prefer things that benefit me; not billionaires.

I'm weird like that.

RaidenBlack1041d ago

Sony runs the business.
But YOU are the consumer!

neutralgamer19921042d ago (Edited 1042d ago )

If a game is going to add more content we may see a DC if not we won't. God of war and days gone didn't receive any big single player expansions

Now they need to get Bloodborne 4k at 60FPS with RT. What will be so unbelievable is the fact BB was a system seller for PS4 and it would be a huge system seller for ps5

brewin1041d ago

Or better yet, how about the thing called a SEQUEL with all of those things. If we all keep clamoring for the same games with some shiny new features slapped on and sold as brand new, gaming is a doomed medium and we will experience another crash. People are going to get fed up of being fed the same things over and over. It stifles creativity in game development and tells the publishers that we dont want new experiences, just the same stuff slightly enhanced.

Gaming is kind of at a crossroads right now because of this. Just look at what 2K is doing with GTA 5 for example. Instead of giving us the NEXT game in the series in GTA 6, they are content to just put out GTA 5 AGAIN on what will be its 3rd generation! Thats some BS right there, but just shows what we as gamers have come to accept and how it changes what the companies will give us as a result. Sure the game still sells millions, but its the same damn thing repackaged over and over again. I still cant believe we didnt get any story add-ons for GTA 5, but we have accepted the $hit theyre feeding us so why would they give us anything more but more of the same?!

MIDGETonSTILTS171041d ago

It’s not a double dip if they only charge for new content. Every DC so far has an expansion’s worth of content, not to mention ps5 optimization and dualsense support added.

And plenty of games don’t even charge for the upgrade if they don’t also offer a substantial amount of new content.

I hope Days Gone and LoU2 get DC options, too.

brewin1041d ago

It speaks to the sad state of gaming and the greed of the companies. If we keep on buying the same shit over and over they're going to keep shoveling us the same shit over and over. Its become an accepted practice now. How is it that gaming is bigger than it has ever been. These companies are making more $$$ than they ever have, but are getting away with giving us less and less while making more $$?!

Nicknasty1041d ago

Yea I’m starting to almost regret even getting a PS5. Just going to be another generation of remastered games weve already played, with a few new ips tossed in the mix. This is just pure laziness and an easy quick cash grab.

Really debating throwing in the towel and going straight 80s and 90s console gaming. Where there was no such thing as remakes, remasters and DLC!!! Just pure quality!

Kyizen1041d ago

Except people new to the Playstation community will now get to a better version of a game that launched a few years back how is this a bad thing?

Bigman4k1040d ago (Edited 1040d ago )

Reading these comments PlayStation fanboys are ok with sony charging you twice they making excuses for them even Nintendo fanboys was upset over Nintendo Switch Oled Model not being a true upgrade

Another PlayStation exclusive PS5 upgrade, another new upgrade path!

FF7R: Free upgrade, $20 for the DLC
GoT: $10 upgrade, $20 for the DLC

Now DS: $10 upgrade, DLC included as part of the upgrade.

For the players indeed...

AnotherGamer1042d ago

Isn't the Ghost of Tsushima ps5 upgrade free?

Tacoboto1042d ago

No - it's locked behind a $10 fee, but the PS4 version has a solid 60fps patch. The Director's Cut content for it is a separate $20 fee.

Sayai jin1041d ago

Hmmm. I thought GoT upgrade was free if you already own it.

TGGJustin1042d ago

Death Stranding has a TON of new content so of course you aren't getting it for free. If it was just a resolution and framerate bump and they charged you $10 that would be something to complain about.

Tacoboto1042d ago

Oh I think Death Stranding's $10 fee is great compared to Ghost of Tsushima's split $20 DC and $10 res-bump model.

Kurt Russell1041d ago

I am still yet to play DS so I am one of the lucky few who get to buy in only the once.

GoT was a kick in the teeth having only bought it a month ago on PSN.

brewin1041d ago

This kid of stuff is totally going to lead to a market crash! We should be boycotting this practice, instead we are allowing it by supporting it. For the players WALLETS.

Inverno1042d ago

I don't think there's anything they could add to this that would make me buy it a second time. I know a lot of people think of it as a master piece but dang did I find every minute of it boring

BrockEmSockEm1041d ago

I enjoyed it, but I'm tired of paying twice for games. They want you to buy the game at launch, but then they release a complete edition of games like a year later and then you feel swindled.

Master of Unlocking1040d ago (Edited 1040d ago )

That's not new though. People who had paid upwards of 250$ for their AES cartridge of Fatal Fury 2 on Neo Geo in 1992 were (rightfully) pissed to see Fatal Fury Special (some kind of Director's Cut of Fatal Fury 2) release in 1993 (not even a year later), LOL

Japanese publishers did that quite a bit, and still do, and not just with arcade games. I remember double-dipping for Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence just for its new 3rd person camera in 2006, when I already owned MGS3 Snake Eater. Unfair, but what can you do.

It's interesting when you take your time and refrain from buying your games day 1, though. I didn't purchase MK11 when it came out, opted for MK XL second hand instead, and now I'm gonna get MK11 Ultimate since I know it's the definitive version. But yeah, it's kind of a crappy move for early buyers, esp. when it's hardware (Nintendo DS Lite/PS4 Pro/Xbox One X, etc)

dumahim1042d ago

I'm guessing all my roads and crap I built have pretty much been destroyed by the rain by now, right?

P_Bomb1042d ago

That’s what I’m dying to find out. If the guts of my zip lines are still there to fix. I connected everything. E-v-e-r-y-t-h-I-n-g!

The best PS5 exclusives 2024

With so many PS5 exclusives to choose from, it can be a little overwhelming to pick which one to play. This is especially true for a new PlayStation gamer who has yet to experience the wonder of PlayStation-exclusive storytelling. So, here's KnowTechie's take on the best PS5 exclusives in 2024 and beyond

PlayStation is killing it with the exclusives this year. Exclusive wise, what has xbox released this year?

VersusDMC31d ago

They won't complain about Microsoft not releasing games here but put all their effort into saying that only first party counts. Games like Rebirth and Grandblue Relink don't count. Games published by Sony like Helldivers 2, Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin don't count because Sony don't own the studios.

It's some narrative building so for when Hellblade 2 come out they can say, seemingly without shame, that Microsoft is actually releasing first party games this year. And claim victory.🙃

Chevalier31d ago

Weird 1st party games didn't matter when Xbox had so little, but, now they're important again? Guess Ark 3, Stalker 2 don't count any more?

KyRo31d ago (Edited 31d ago )

ARK 3 doesn't exist and it's just a timed exclusive. It's also a game that a majority of the ARK player base doesn't want as it's a massive deviation from what people like about the original game

Abnor_Mal31d ago (Edited 31d ago )

Honestly to me it doesn’t matter what they say, they are just finally getting a chance to say all the things PS fan(boy)s were saying to them for the past few years. Let them get that, they deserve a “win” for a change.

The new narrative is that suddenly first party games matter again when awhile ago they didn’t, but that was because they were struggling with the same three games with the occasional fourth or fifth. That games should be everywhere on all platforms since that’s whats happening to theirs. The consoles don’t matter just the ability to play anywhere. Whatever Xbox is doing Sony will soon follow.

They’re not moving the goalpost anymore, but rather just moving the whole damn stadium.

jwillj2k431d ago

Only a incel would care about who published what and who owns who.

If it’s not on the other consoles it’s an exclusive.

Killing what? Where are the 1st party games??
Stellar Blade and FF7 is what I’m seeing this year.. so shallow!!!!

andy8531d ago

Doesn't really matter as long as they're great games. Baffles me why people put an emphasis on 1st party. They're still games you can't play anywhere else this year

Cacabunga30d ago

Andy

PS brand is my favorite because of their stellar first party software.. currently I see absolutely nothing to go crazy for..

CS730d ago

Nonsense.

PS1 and PS2 was built on great third party exclusives like FF, MGS, GTA & Tekken.

raWfodog31d ago

Of course I love the games I’ve played from PS but I don’t believe we need to limit it to ‘exclusive’ to acknowledge that Xbox will be releasing some good games this year also. In that same vein, I believe that Xbox diehards shouldn’t limit their acknowledgment of good PS games to 1st party. There are plenty of good games to go around for everybody.

Tacoboto31d ago

This is a Playstation article about Playstation games and your comment is about Xbox. Can't you just celebrate what PS has without dragging this into console war BS?

ChasterMies31d ago

I don’t think Microsoft is releasing games exclusively on Xbox anymore. They have some timed exclusives that release on Xbox first.

Returnal, Astro Bot, and Ratchet made having it since day one worth it.

GT7 free updates and Spiderman 2 and others at 60fps have made this last year more than okay.

But yeah, it’s been dry lately. BG3 and third party have made great filler, but we ready for that SOCOM or Killzone announcement and some more 1st party goodness. Crossing fingers for Ghost of Tsushima 2 announcement this summer.

Didn’t know Helldivers was exclusive! Wtf is going on at Xbox that they can’t get these games, series s strikes again.

SonyStyled31d ago (Edited 31d ago )

Sony owns the Helldivers IP. The first was a PS3/Vita/PC game. It was never an Xbox game that they could ‘get’ a decade ago. I’m not sure what the upset is with Xbox here

CS730d ago

Lol, how do you ignore Rebirth one of the best games ever made?

anast31d ago

Looks like they are on par with the previous gens. Solid games all around. Interestingly enough, we can't say they released a bad game yet this gen. Unlike the Quiet Man dustup.

I actually do not mind if Marathon releases on multiple platforms . I just wish that Marathon has a dedicated single player campaign.
