I doubt we'll see Days Gone, being what was going on in the background of that one. The other 2, I don't see that happening either.
We already have the sequels on their way, so it would make sense to have put those out prior to the sequels; and we've heard nothing about a director's cut of them.

I'm going to try to make a point here. You can either agree with my point of view, or not.
Either way, fair.
There's a lot of people who haven't had the chance to grab a PS5.
So those stuck with the PS4, and bought it on the PS4, supported the thing from the beginning, seemingly have no access to the extra content.
I get that they won't be able to take advantage of the performance differences, and the potential haptic feedback.
If you're a huge fan of the game, you NEED to buy a PS5 to get the extra content.

Then, on the backend, they're reselling a game that, while not old, definitely saw the bulk of its sales; both PS4 and PC, at retail. So that's where I see it as a cash grab. The game isn't all that old, but let's find a way to make sure we can sell the thing at retail again.

That's exactly it. I bought FF7 Remake Day 1 on PS4 because I'm a huge Final Fantasy fan and have been waiting like others for a remake. Now they announced and released a DLC and upgraded version and it's only available on PS5 alienating everyone who bought it on PS4 and can't afford or find a PS5 like myself. At least with Ghost of Tsushima, PS4 owners who don't have a PS5 can still get the upcoming expansion. I was gonna buy Death Stranding during the Steam Summer Sale but knowing I wouldn't have time to play it, I decided not to. Then they go and announce this. It'll probably eventually get a PC version too... maybe? This double dipping practice needs to die and die fast.

This is what's truly wrong with this, IMHO. We can argue all day over whether it's right to charge $10 for PS5 tech/graphical upgrades, but locking content to just the PS5 when it's been on PS4 seems like the wrong thing to do to me.

Dude $10 is $10 more then games like A Plague Tale, Borderlands 3, Dead By Daylight, Descenders, Destiny 2, Doom Eternal, For Honor, Fortnite, Immortals, Marvel Avengers, Metro Exodus, Mortal Kombat 11, No Man's Sky, Rocket League, Star Wars Fallen Order, Elder Scrolls Online, Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Rainbow Six Siege, The Division 2, World of Tanks and World of Warships are charging for next gen updates.

The games getting Director cuts made a Sony a ton of money. It is disappointing that they are hiding next gen visual upgrades behind Director Cut versions. Even if the cost is only $10. But if you had 100 last gen games you want to upgrade that would $1,000 if everyone charged for the updates.

Now they need to get Bloodborne 4k at 60FPS with RT. What will be so unbelievable is the fact BB was a system seller for PS4 and it would be a huge system seller for ps5

Or better yet, how about the thing called a SEQUEL with all of those things. If we all keep clamoring for the same games with some shiny new features slapped on and sold as brand new, gaming is a doomed medium and we will experience another crash. People are going to get fed up of being fed the same things over and over. It stifles creativity in game development and tells the publishers that we dont want new experiences, just the same stuff slightly enhanced.

Gaming is kind of at a crossroads right now because of this. Just look at what 2K is doing with GTA 5 for example. Instead of giving us the NEXT game in the series in GTA 6, they are content to just put out GTA 5 AGAIN on what will be its 3rd generation! Thats some BS right there, but just shows what we as gamers have come to accept and how it changes what the companies will give us as a result. Sure the game still sells millions, but its the same damn thing repackaged over and over again. I still cant believe we didnt get any story add-ons for GTA 5, but we have accepted the $hit theyre feeding us so why would they give us anything more but more of the same?!

It’s not a double dip if they only charge for new content. Every DC so far has an expansion’s worth of content, not to mention ps5 optimization and dualsense support added.

And plenty of games don’t even charge for the upgrade if they don’t also offer a substantial amount of new content.

I hope Days Gone and LoU2 get DC options, too.

No - it's locked behind a $10 fee, but the PS4 version has a solid 60fps patch. The Director's Cut content for it is a separate $20 fee.

I enjoyed it, but I'm tired of paying twice for games. They want you to buy the game at launch, but then they release a complete edition of games like a year later and then you feel swindled.

That's not new though. People who had paid upwards of 250$ for their AES cartridge of Fatal Fury 2 on Neo Geo in 1992 were (rightfully) pissed to see Fatal Fury Special (some kind of Director's Cut of Fatal Fury 2) release in 1993 (not even a year later), LOL

Japanese publishers did that quite a bit, and still do, and not just with arcade games. I remember double-dipping for Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence just for its new 3rd person camera in 2006, when I already owned MGS3 Snake Eater. Unfair, but what can you do.

It's interesting when you take your time and refrain from buying your games day 1, though. I didn't purchase MK11 when it came out, opted for MK XL second hand instead, and now I'm gonna get MK11 Ultimate since I know it's the definitive version. But yeah, it's kind of a crappy move for early buyers, esp. when it's hardware (Nintendo DS Lite/PS4 Pro/Xbox One X, etc)

They ( Sony ) found another way for selling old games with 70 $ price or 70 Euro. Add lightning and little effects and 4K vs vs. And add a little DLC things and hoooop it's 70 Euro. They finished call it Remasters and call it now Director's Cut.

PS4 version in Turkish PSN removed by Sony. And it was ( a week ago ) about 590 TL ( which is about 50 US Dollars ) .. and about phsycal version it s about 400- 450 TL ( second Hand ) which is about 40 US Dollars. And i have to pay 30 Dollars for PS4 to PS5 ( Director's Cut ) version... So it s meaningless to pay that price right now. I am talking about Ghost Of Tsushima.

Playstation definitely has quality games. But so does MS, and now they have a bunch of quality, award winning devs under their belt all working on new titles under the Xbox name.

As for gamepass, please. Most of the games that come to it are solid to great titles. I bought a year of PS Now when I got my PS4 Pro, late into the generation. They were already talking about the launch of the PS5. The cost of PS Now barely justified itself, being that most of the exclusives had were dirt cheap already.
Then the rest of the service is filled with so much shovelware, it felt like going to a used game store, looking for Wii games.

Whatever happened to platform holders releasing new consoles with tons of new and exciting titles?! Im not talking about a specific console here, as all of them are complicit in this, but it seems that gaming has become equivalent to Hollywood with all these remasters, reboots, and Directors cuts.

We as gamers should expect more and hold these companies accountable. I think the last console that launched with a bonafide "launch lineup" of new titles was the Xbox 360 15 years ago. Even the Switch launched with a game that was available on the previous hardware (Breath of the Wild was on Wii U).

Is no one else getting a bit annoyed by this?! As an early adopter, I am just getting sick of paying premium prices to play games that are available on the device I already owned. It is really starting to feel like they ARE taking advantage of us gamers who the companies depend on most. If the dang system isnt ready with new games cuz the new games arent ready, then just delay the damn system so we can have new and exciting releases for the new and exciting console!

They were all new titles, with the exception of the sports games, but even those were different than previous gen versions. My point is that there were NEW games available, not just a bunch of games we had already played! Sequels and new series, that is what a launch should bring. Not remakes and "Directors Cuts".

Most of those had PS2, Xbox, Gamecube versions...so still waiting for the best launch line up reasoning. I stll prefer the PS5 launch even though i just got Miles, Astrobot and replayed some Ps4 games.

The launch window also had games like the first saints row and Dead rising. That's several entirely new series and several sequels within 6 months of the system launch. You just don't see that anymore. We're lucky to get one or 2, then just a bunch of rehashes and director cut of games most of us already bought. Even the ones that also came out on PS2 and Xbox arrived on the new system at the same time. They weren't just releasing the same game it was new to the old systems and the new systems at the same time.

Also I didn't say best I said bona fide lunch lineup of new titles. Reading is fundamental. Name me one title that launched on either new system that was a completely new title in a franchise or a new franchise altogether? Where as the 360 had several sequels and entirely new franchises within the launch window. You just don't see that anymore. Sure Sony did Miles Morales and Astro. But one was basically DLC and the other a tech demo. As good as those experiences were I wouldn't call them completely new experiences that couldn't be done on the previous hardware. It's like generations don't exist anymore.

Companies are getting complacent and they're just selling us slightly enhanced versions of games we bought barely a year ago. That's unacceptable it's not a good practice and it's going to cause an industry-wide crash as people are going to start getting upset at this practice. I won't be buying slightly enhanced directors cuts. And judging by all the flack these are getting I don't think a lot of people are going to be shelling out any money for these.
