Would have been better had you said

I won't Judge Dread until it's out.

Only Nintendo can get away with selling what looks like a mobile game for $60…

LG_Fox_Brazil1060d ago

I have never played a mobile game as good as Super Metroid, let alone one that looks as good as Dread

porkChop1060d ago

What mobile games do you play that look like that?

badz1491059d ago

this is already the year 2021 and can you please come back to reality where there are so many side scrollers for mobile with great graphics and style out there. here are some of the examples of those:

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

and do you just conveniently ignore games like Fortnite, CoD Warzone, Genshin Impact etc. which all have great graphics on Android and iOS just so you can praise your almighty lord Nintendo??

YES I said it, Metroid Dread looks like something that can easily be done on mobile and I have proof. deal with it!

porkChop1059d ago

1) Who said I was talking about graphics? What about fluidity of movement and combat? Overall polish and production values? Etc?

2) You've listed AAA console/PC games that were ported down to PC. They had the benefit of AAA budgets and dev studios. They're really not mobile games.

badz1491059d ago

So...what? Are you saying Nintendo doesn't have big budget and is not AAA studio and publisher? Is that it?

Or do you see now how Nintendo makes low budget games and is selling them at premium just because they can and their fans are so easily satisfied will low effort? I will show this again:

https://ibb.co/PTHNKzB

See how they are about to release a Mario Golf that looks worse than a competing golf game released on the PS3 14 years ago. See if you dare calling me wrong about this. Nintendo is treating their fans like sheep with constant feeding of Mario and they are too gullible (too dumb maybe?) to ask or push Nintendo to do better. Just willingly throwing money at this scumbag of a company

septemberindecember1059d ago

@badz

I honestly don't see how you could think that Mario Golf: Superstar looks worse than Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds. Maybe it's the style of the character that is throwing you off. I included a character that more displays an artistic design more similar to Mario to help with this comparison.

https://imgur.com/gallery/4...

The foliage has more density, grass is actually modeled, the resolution is significantly higher, models have higher polygons. I think you personally just have a bias against Nintendo. When you call the people that enjoy their games "too dumb" to know better, well we both know you aren't being objective at that point in time at all.

badz1491059d ago

@September

so...you tried your hardest to find the worst modeled character for Hotshot Golf from 14 years ago just so you can show Mario Golf is somewhat better? just go watch the videos of that game on YT and see how the game looks actually and see that I'm right!

but noticed that you tried hard to over some comparison with a game released 14 years ago on the PS3? HotShot Golf 6 (World Invitational), a Vita port was released on the PS3 too. I didn't use that for comparison just to make a point but that HS6 on PS3 already looks way better than Mario Golf 2021. sorry but that's just the truth.

septemberindecember1058d ago

@badz

I didn't try to do anything but give you a good comparison. I provided you with a character with similar composition to Mario so you weren't distracted by the difference in art style, because it seems like that's what you're distracted about.

Everybody's Golf 6 also doesn't look as good as Mario Golf: Superstar, so I'm not sure what you are talking about. The resolution, polygonal models, foliage, textures...I mean half of the things that are physically rendered on Mario Golf: Superstar are simple billboard textures on Everybody's Golf. It simply isn't true. Now, maybe you prefer that art style, but it doesn't look as good on a technical level, no.

Knushwood Butt1060d ago

But 16 years in development justifies full price.

badz1491059d ago

and for games ported from Wii U, it's totally justified to sell them at $60 too which is $10 more expensive than their Wii U releases. just Nintendo logic for the sheep!

TheEnigma3131060d ago

The game looks good. I’m looking forward to it.

Destiny10801060d ago

the backgrounds did look a bit samey and underwhelming, but maybe that's with keeping with the franchise

CosmicTurtle1060d ago

I thought they felt graphically bland too, a big aspect of Metroid is the sense of place, like the rainswept planet you arrive in on super Metroid. It’s a shame as the mechanics of the game are really appealing..Something about 2.5d often looks and feels a little off for me, Nintendo have usually managed it better than most like crafted world.

Metroid Dread Has Sold Over 3 Million Copies, Reveals Developer

Enric Álvarez, the CEO of Metroid Dread developer MercurySteam, has revealed that the title has now sold over three million copies worldwide.

jaymacx288d ago

It’s good to see Metroid do well. Hopefully we hear something soon about Metroid Prime 4

Hereandthere288d ago (Edited 288d ago )

Wait up, 3 million worldwide out of a possible 120 million is considered good for a legendary franchise like metroid?

JEECE288d ago

Metroid has never sold super well. Lots of people under under the mistaken impression that, because franchises like Mario Kart, Smash Bros., 3D Mario games, more recent Zelda games, and Animal Crossing sell huge numbers, that all Nintendo franchises sell at that level, and that they always have.

This is pretty good for a Metroid. Dread will probably end up being the best-selling game in the franchise, if it isn't already.

Sciurus_vulgaris288d ago (Edited 288d ago )

Metroid Prime was said to have sold 2.8 million copies, so Dread is likely the best selling game in the series.

Rebel_Scum287d ago

Not everyone is a metroid freak ho ho ho

MetroidFREAK21287d ago

@Rebel_scum *squidward laugh*

ZeekQuattro288d ago

It took some doing but I'm glad it finally made it past that milestone.
