Random Gamer's Review of AC/DC Live: Rock Band Track Pack

Grundy The Man writes, "After an eight year absence from recording, on October 20th 2008, AC/DC released their sixteenth studio, Black Ice. This was a return to form for the band and a marketing milestone for the music industry. While selling their new album exclusively at Wal-Mart, over 784,000 copies flew off of store shelves in the first week. Not only was Black Ice the best selling record that week, but it was the second biggest album debut of the entire year and marked only the second time in the band's 30-year history, that they managed to hold the #1 position in weekly sales.

In hopes of riding this gravy train to more pay dirt, Harmonix recently released the AC/DC Live: Rock Band Track Pack. This standalone product consists of eighteen of the band's biggest hits, all digitally remastered from the groundbreaking Live at Donington record. So will this game cash in on the revived legacy of one of the greatest rock bands ever, or is it nothing more than another chance to help subsidize the retirement fund for a group of rapid aging rockers?"

IDK.. I think AC/DC needs to call it quits.. To have them on Rock Band is cool and all, But this should have been coupled with more DLC

bgrundman5623d ago (Edited 5623d ago )

Their most recent record barely had a song title without the word rock in it...we get it, you are a Rock Band! You are right, this all should have just been DLC

Neco5125623d ago

either way i think its worth it

Hobb5623d ago

I don't think this is worth it at all

killyourfm5623d ago

I'm not surprised at the score, but I do thoroughly AC/DC's music. But the pricepoint and the whole "Walmart exclusive" business really sours me.

For now, I'll be grabbing Dr. Feelgood and some Foo Fighters..

CrAppleton5623d ago

For sure.. I like AC/DC.. Just not enough for this one

bgrundman5623d ago

The foo Fighters album is awesome, but I would save your money on this one.

CrAppleton5623d ago

good deal.. I'll save my money then

Neco5125623d ago

if you have rockband and want to continue to see support in this fassion then you should buy it

CrAppleton5623d ago

whether you get this or not I don't think they are going to stop the support

Jimmy the Greek5623d ago

There is alot of good music there, it is just hard to get over the baggage that comes with it.

Neco5125623d ago

i love rockband!! i wouldnt mind paying for this one

bgrundman5623d ago

I don't know though, 40 bucks is awful expensive for 18 songs.

Hobb5623d ago

YEAH IT IS! THATS RETARDED

Hobb5623d ago

Right, I just don't think this is worth the money

Jimmy the Greek5623d ago

it might be worth it if you could port all the songs to the other rock bands

Did anybody notice that it is actually 10 dollars cheaper on the ps2? Whats up with that?

Jimmy the Greek5623d ago

im going to say its because the ps2 sucks $10 more than every other system and therefore is $10 you get to save for still playing it. i jest, its the lower graphics

Rock Band Network live on Xbox 360, 105 songs available

Alexander Sliwinski of Joystiq writes:

"The Rock Band Network has gone live on Xbox 360 with a catalog of 105 songs. With over 4,000 registered authors and peer reviewers participating in the program, we're guessing a lot more tracks are in the pipe. Song prices currently range from 80 to 160 ($1 and $2)."

Has EA given up on Rock Band?

MCV: Conspicuous by its absence in EA's forward planning for the financial year ahead was any mention of the once golden franchise that is Rock Band, leading to speculation that the publisher could be looking to drop its distribution agreement for the game.

Furthermore, with the end of its current deal with developer Harmonix now in site, EA has refused to offer a concrete commitment to extend its current distribution deal with Viacom.

I can't understand you gamers.

First, everybody complains that a numbered Guitar Hero sequel is coming every year and that it is destroying the music game industry.

Now, people are complaining that Harmonix is not releasing a new Rock Band so soon, sticking with our beloved weekly DLCs.

I really don't hope they release Rock Band 3 in 2010. Also, I don't know why Green Day: Rock Band isn't in this year's schedule. Not that I care, of course =P

10 Ways to Fix Rock Band

From Terminal Gamer:

"Here is a list of 10 new ideas that Harmonix should think about implementing in RB3. I'm talking new stuff here, so having songs from RB1/RB2/DLC be exportable to RB3 is a given, as is online multiplayer and some form of career mode. I also tried to think of things that haven't been mentioned before, so as much as we all want it, you won't find "LED ZEPPELIN" anywhere on this list."

I had no idea it was even broken.

Looks like these are ways the game could improve, but I'd hardly say any of these would really 'fix' it. Jukebox would be nice, no pedal is available in Lego RB, and customization will come in time but really I'd like them to keep focusing on the basics/songs.
