Continuing in their effort to bring classic games up-to-date and onto PSP, Rising Star Games are planning to follow up Bubble Bobble Evolution with Rainbow Islands Evolution, a modern re-imagining of the classic platformer that made a name for itself on formats such as the Amiga.
Rainbow Islands Evolution is the perfect example of how not to remake a popular franchise.

* Grating soundtrack
* Boss battles are recycled and monotonous
* Slow, plodding pace
* Uninspired, tangential storyline.
Gamezone writes:
"For a game that involves muzak and music, it is all pretty disappointing. I guess the bad guy music is correct since it supposedly drove plants and animals so crazy they became vile creatures, but the good music your resonator is supposed to produce isn't all that inspiring or heroic.
It's just a really strange, weird game that probably should have been redone with more care."
