The Elder Scrolls Online Gets A Next Generation Update

This looks amazing. The Elder Scrolls Online: Console Enhanced, a next-gen version, coming to Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 on June 8, 2021.

It is no longer "next gen" 'new gen' maybe. I have been playing Series X for 3 months already. The new consoles are almost 6 months old now.
Also, why is fidelity mode locked at 30fps? I thought both new consoles were up to 8k ready. Is that locked at 15fps? 🙄 clearly the 15fps is a joke, but really? Pro and X1X were pulling off 4k 30 fps.

Good point. I went with what they said as I think their basis is the game came out on the prior generation so this update is for the next generation of systems.

Seriously want to play half life Alyx so bad. Just can’t use it to justify building a PC and buying VR. If it comes to PSVR2 I will definitely buy it. I think valve would be foolish not to put it on playstation

Yup because Half Life Alyx and VR are perfectly on topic for this article.

Pro and XSX were pulling off sub 4k and 30 fps. Look at Nier Automata, 1080p and an unstable 60 fps on pro and the One X had a dynamic scaler with 4k and an unstable 60 fps.

The Series X however runs the game at a solid 60 fps and constant 4k through BC alone. If you cannot see the massive jump in power, then you bought into too much of the PR revolving around the Pro and One X. Also none of these games have been built from the ground up for the new consoles, so there is that.

But I do agree with the notion that it is no longer "next gen". It is now current gen and last gen.

I get your point, and respect it. I absolutely love the Series X, and am eventually will get a PS5. I want Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War or Uncharted to be released first.

Once I have PS5 3rd party games I will buy which ever version of new games has the better performance.

Nothing amazing, but nice to have none the less I suppose.

NeoGamer2321163d ago

I agree, there has not been anything truly amazing yet this generation. It really brought consoles to more consistently deliver 4k and load times are dramatically cut. But other then that, this generation has not had a ton of gameplay innovation yet.

Don't forget more options with 60FPS as well.

I'm just waiting for the games to release that aren't hampered by also releasing on last gen hardware.

6yr old game, but the fps will still drop, it's an MMO so when you have hundreds on screen at once that's all on the CPU not GPU. Since they are locking the fps at 30 or 60 on console I think the only way to maintain that while there are so many on screen say in batttles is that they will probably dynamically remove some players or other stuff that you can't really be bothered looking at anyway. I play Guild Wars 2 on PC and it doesn't matter if you have the best CPU, your fps will drop sometimes below 30, because it uses mostly 1-2 cores at most and I'm pretty sure ESO uses the same # of cores as well. Just an example of GW2 gameplay during World vs World: https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Looking great for an older game. Most mmos don’t even bother updating console versions much. So a nice deal

What did they just move the MT shop to PS5?
