In its latest financial report, it has been revealed that Sony has spent $329 million on developing new PlayStation Studios games since April 2020.
The Outerhaven writes: While Steam has come out recently, stating that Steam accounts can't be transferred, we need to think about it since we all will eventually kick the bucket. But if Valve is denying transferring accounts, what can be done? Plenty, actually.
It goes to my kids because I gave them the passwords.
To Steam: Missio has a song that conveys my feelings about you stealing my purchase after I die. It's called "Middle Fingers"
I suppose if I have kids, I'd just give em my account details by retirement age. If I die young then...idk lol.
Yea, I mean just give someone the password to your account. Is that difficult to do or something? Like, I’m legit asking because I don’t know.
CD Projekt Red is confident in the transition from its in-house Red Engine to Unreal Engine 5 for the next Witcher game.
My main concern with UE5, is that some developers have resorted to very low resolutions in order to enable the advanced feature set of this engine and sustain the frame rate.
In open world games, especially those with excellent graphics, we cant realistically expect 60fps from consoles (PS5 pro set aside as we do not know exactly how performant it will be) without huge compromises.
Thus the new Witcher game will probably require more powerful consoles to experience it the way the developers intended and in that sense, it reminds me of Cyberpunk situation.
It was released in current gen systems albeit in dire state (even PS4 Pro and Xbox One X suffered) requiring next generation consoles to achieve a desirable (and still not ideal) result.
I am quietly confident that they are going to make one hell of a jaw dropping witcher considering what they achieved with cyberpunk, i reckon they will bring a new level of what can be expected from ue5 BUT i reckon it will be a ps6/rtx 5090 game.
Arkane Austin has just released Game Update 4, the final patch for Redfall which is 16GB in size and adds an Offline Mode.
I'm not interested in this game but i think it's great they added the offline mode for those who are.
“Sony has committed to spending $329 million on publishing agreements and partnerships for PlayStation, which will be payed out over seven years.”
$329 million over 7 years isn’t much. Wish they’d buy some studios such as Bluepoint Games and Housemarque. They could also build a few great studios over time.
Either way I’m excited to see what happens going forward.
We heard those rumors that Sony was shopping for a lot of 3rd party and timed deals leading up to launch. Putting a number to it is interesting.
That's 40-50m a year. It doesn't seem too crazy. That's how you get deals for things like Deathloop and FF16.
The original reports made it sound like Sony was almost overpaying. But this kind of budget isn't crazy to me. I can see where the rumor that MS wasn't willing to outbid Sony is probably true too. That may end up being a big mistake on MS's part though.
I know a lot of people frown on this, but as much as we may dislike "moneyhatting" and paid exclusivity, if your studios are focused on delivering 2 or 3 acclaimed blockbusters each gen, you need to fill out your exclusive libraries somehow. Plus, many of their 3rd party deals still release on PC, so non-PS owners aren't completely left out most times.
So to me, this seems like a great sign for the PS5's library and a good business move again.
Now, if we hear that 1/2 of this budget is for COD map packs, or exclusive DLC nonsense, I'll change my opinion.
329 million but Sony didn't spend a penny to get Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis in America
Of course PSU is going to make it sound slimy and underhanded. I guess it just seems slimy because this site is so slimy.
