ME trilogy is probably in my top 10, but I can't agree with saying it's the best either.

MGS is either 1 or 2 with Mario 1 - 3 right there. I'd also say Halo 1-3, BioShock, Batman Arkham series, and Witcher might rank above ME to me.

A bit less mainstream, but the STALKER trilogy is up there for me personally too.

It's not though, in my opinion. I just don't get it sometimes. The games that people love and hype up like they're the best thing ever, I couldn't get into. Skyrim, Fallout, Borderlands, Mass Effect, (I own the whole trilogy) The Witcher, Fortnite, Breath of the Wild.

Not all game resonate with everyone. Games that I love, there are people that feel the same way I feel about those games I mentioned. A lot of people HATE The Last Of Us 2, but I think it's one of the best games ever made. Everyone has their opinions.

I think most Souls fans agree that Dark Souls 2 was weak. The Mario Bros games were great for the time, but I think the 3D ones took it to a higher level, so I couldn't give it to that. Crash, Spyro and Ratchet I don't think were ever considered the best games on the planet, as good as some of them were.

Not sure if Mass Effect is the best, but it's certainly ahead of that lot.

The Souls series literally created it's own genre with knock-offs galore and the weakest Souls is still better than the vast majority of games. The original Mario trilogy is easily #1 overall in terms of impact and general progression of the industry as a whole. The rest I mentioned were all trilogies where the entries either got progressively better and were head and shoulders above the competition, and that's not even mentioning the Castlevanias, GTAs, and Megamans of the world.

There is ZERO argument for Mass Effect being in the top 10 trilogies of all time, let alone #1. If it's the dude's favorite, great, but that's a different conversation. There is no measurable metric to call it the greatest of all time by any standard. Shit article. Shit argument. Try again.

God of War 3 wasn't great. Uncharted 3 was a bit of a mess, and the first game wasn't quite up there. Not sure if Mass Effect is the best, but I'd say it's ahead of those two as a trilogy.

It was far weaker than the first two. It had a few great moments, but also some dull sections. It never really reached the heights of the Ares or Sisters of Fate boss fights. The story was a letdown, with a few jarring plot holes. The gameplay was stale after playing the first two and CoO, so it got repetitive quick.

In my opinion, it wasn't even the best God of War to come out in 2010.

At first I did not agree and then I thought about it. There has not been a trilogy that I can think of where the choices you made had such impact from one game to another. You could lose almost your entire crew. Everyone I know that was really into Mass Effect would refer to Shepard as "my Shepard" when talking about what was happening in their game. I've never spent so much time thinking about a game series after I was done playing it as I have Mass Effect.

Regardless of whether or not it’s the best, it did a great job continuing the story from one chapter to the next.

I’m really looking forward to this - to connect again with the characters. It’s been so long, I think it will feel fresh and new.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. That said, I can't think of any series were your choices could kill off the main character and it be final. So you couldn't play on in the next installment.

I do recall these games resonating quite deeply when I played them a good decade ago, so I'm looking forward to this remaster. That said, there are a lot of contenders for best gaming trilogy of all time, so I'll have to give some serious thought if I were to try and rank some of them.

If Mass Effect 3 had a good ending then it would would easily have that title. The first two games certainly set the stage. However, 3 had the worst ending in the history of gaming, and the way it trivialised the major decisions of the first two games was cheap. It didn't help that the transition from 2-3 was rough, with DLC being required to bridge the gap.

However, I say it may still be the best. The fact your decisions played some role throughout all three games was impressive, and it had a cohesive plot that needed the three games to tell. Despite what I say about Mass Effect 3, the first playthrough up until the last 15 minutes was mostly phenomenal. So it has my vote.

Some people bring up Metal Gear Solid, but if you're just looking at 1, 2 and 3, they don't exactly make for a cohesive trilogy in terms of story. You need to play 4 and probably Peace Walker to get the whole story. Better overall series sure, but not a better trilogy. The only thing I could see being better is if Valve finally make a Half Life 3. If it's as good as the first two, then it takes the cake.

For me it is. I mean, MGS 1-3 was awesome. Resident 1-3 was great (didn't dig 3 that much), but ME 1-3 was friggin' fantastic. I know ME3 got hated on for its ending, but by then, I was so invested in the characters and the storyline that it still blew me away.

At the time, its scale was on another level. Unpopular opinion: I hope BioWare brings back Cmdr. Shepard for the new Mass Effect. I know everyone wants to put themselves into the game, but there's something to be said about a protagonist that's already established.

Mario 3 is a top 5 game of all time but Mario 1-3 is just three games in a series not a trilogy, MGS is 5 numbered games, and none of crash/spyro/uncharted are even trilogies.

Definitely my personal favorite RPG of all time. Glad ME1 is being given the love to bring it up to par with ME2 and ME3. Still wish this was all being rebuilt in UE4 Engine, but i also don't want episodic releases like FF7 Remake.

ME3 had a dreadful ending to an otherwise solid game, ME2 is fantastic but ME1 feels very clunky and janky to play, seems the remaster will fix that though.
