I keep going back and forth between Horizon and Ghost of Tsushima as the best new IP last gen. Both are great. Really looking forward to Forbidden West. Fighting robot dinosaurs is so much fun.

Ghost was based (loosely) on history/reality so I’d say inherently it would be more grounded . I really love both of the games with that being said .

I gotta give it to Bloodborne, which was a pretty big risk too. Very niche/Non-traditional and fantastic story telling/world building, and atmospheric presence. The combat system and gameplay loop was frustratingly perfect. Still the pinnacle of “Soulsborne” titles for myself.

Agreed as well.. I would give it to HZD though. The universe is completely new and unique and no one has ever done anything close to that game before.. at least from the big AAA games I've played.

Both great games. But I’d give it to HZD. The opening was fantastic. And every time I entered a new zone area I was blown away by the differences in terrain and “culture” of the inhabitants. Plus the risks the story took were top notch and landed every time.

HZD was my game of the generation! New, original IP should always be celebrated in this cookie-cutter era. Not only that, but it was a fantastic game with an amazing story and sublime gameplay! The Frozen Wilds DLC was also the single best piece of post-launch content last gen IMO. I am waiting on an LE PS5 Horizon Bundle do dive into the PS5 ecosystem.

Gotta give it to Horizon imo. I mean Robot machines built by an advanced AI designed to terraform the earth and save mankind, many hundreds of years after an apocalyptic event that nearly wiped out humanity? The combat was also very cool and inventive. Playing on the very hard difficulties make you need to plan your attacks. Loved setting traps and getting ready for a big battle. Such a unique game in regards to the combat and the lore of it's world.

For myself, i will give Horizon the edge of GoT. Why, i think Horizon gameplay, story, and visual was outstanding and it was pretty a risky move as well.
I mean GoT has everything that i mentioned. But for some reason with Horizon I continue to play it even though ive beaten it. I continue to explore, try different ways to kill robot dinosaurs with different weapons etc... GoT, i dont have that urge to do the same.

I think Ghost is a more completely package at the end, and better gameplay (both are a lot of fun).

But I was like OMFG when I see the first gameplay trailer for Horizon, and find Ghost's first gameplay trailer pretty boring (I guess I was expecting fast paced action like infamous).

Personal preference: Horizon > Ghost > GoW > Tlou2 > U4 > Spider-Man > Days Gone

But honestly, they are all amazing games.

Both are amazing games with a lot of creative ideas, but Horizon did take more risks and didn’t stick to the same open world tropes.

I give it to Horizon. I really liked the story behind how the robo dinos came to be in a post apocalyptic world. So mucb potential and I cannot wait to jump back into it.

They seem to have discovered some witchcraft-level coding there, so I don't see why not. The PS5 is always going to go that much further though, with it's ultra fast SSD.

Last of us remaster...it was a 50mb update. It cut start loading times by...I don't know...more than half, even more...I liked listening to that start tune...that deep guitar.. not any more. I don't know what witchcraft is that...but its magical.

Because it's cross-gen then I assume the game will be designed around 'hiding' the load times. So yes i think it will have the same feeling of 'fast loading' like in GOT.

Unlikely if it's the same engine and tech powering hzd which wasn't used in got the load times were not great but only needed to losd the world not much more I can't recall waiting for loads all that often aside from boot I guess you could always suspend.tge game on PS also

faster loading timer were never really a problem, just a question how much time you invest to make it faster. Most time it was just fast enough and not a priority to get it faster.

It would be nice to get a PS5 to go with my Series X, I have the money but the damn scalpers...I refuse to give then a cent.

At least I can play it on my pro, because this is the one Sony exclusive this year I absolutely cannot wait for. God of War is up there, but I expect that one to be delayed.

Really wish more games from ps4 would get ps5 patches. Horizon on ps5 4k 60fps would be awesome. Ghosts of tsushima on ps5 is phenomenal and currently pretty much all im playing on ps5.

Seeing as Horizon Forbidden west is coming out soon-ish it would be nice if they bundled the PS5 version of Zero Dawn in with it, similar to what they did with Spider-man. While a free version would be great I have my doubts it will be due to Zero Dawn coming out a few years ago so I'd assume that there would be significant work involved in up-scaling it

Considering it’s impossible to get a PS5 thanks to scalpers and low supply.
While it’s nice to have those games on PS4 it’s not the same not playing how it was meant to be played which is on PS5.
Spiderman Miles Morales looks good on PS4 Pro but on PS5 that’s the best experience.

I really wish it were simply a ps5 exclusive. I understand they didn't want to alienate their player base, but I feel like when they develop games for cross generation they never end up being as good as they could have been. This game might be amazing and nearly flawless, but it won't shake the thought that it could have been that much better exclusively to ps5.

Sony had a lot of really good new IPs last gen, GOT,Dreams,Days Gone,Horizon,The Order, Bloodborne, I mean that’s what I love about Sony studios and Sony themselves, they are not afraid to invest in new IP, can’t wait for Horizon FW and the many other first party titles that are in the works.
