This PS2-themed black PS5 goes on sale January 8, but you probably won't get one

Gamers have been crying out for a black PS5 ever since Sony first revealed the divisive two-tone design of the PlayStation 5, and it looks like they might finally get their wish.

Been trying to get one for weeks now but no stock absolutely anywhere. The one thing I absolutely will not do is buy from a scalper. I would love it if Sony release a load more stock soon and leave them holding large volumes of stock they can then shift. Let them enjoy their 10 second hand consoles.

I would would prefer the black design though. Not really a fan of the 2 tone.

You have to go to the site: Troll-basement-dealz.net. There you can browse the wares of basement trolls sitting on merch purchased with bots from all major retailers. They have a fine selection of goods.

Toilet Paper - no limits here buy as much as you want (at only a 400% markup)
Bleach - (only 250% markup)
Hand Sanitizer - (only 800% markup)
Xbox, Switch, PS5 - (starting at only 200% markup)

Troll basement - we care not.

I feel extremely lucky getting one but it took a lot of getting up early and trying to break thru crashing websites. The wife told me not to give up and 10 minutes later I got one thru Walmart. I couldn’t believe it.

8 downvotes. It was clearly a joke. Lol..

But comedic taste on n4g has been noted for future..ta.

If Sony is not officially supporting these all black consoles I wouldn't bother.

OMGitzThatGuy1220d ago

"I won't buy unless Sony gives me permission" You guys are nuts lol

RazzerRedux1219d ago (Edited 1219d ago )

Is it nuts to want to buy a product that actually has a valid warranty?

Elda1219d ago

You would be,reckless,irresponsible including careless to buy a console that's not supported by a valid warranty by the actual manufacturer let alone paying more than the actual price for the unit. That would be totally nuts.

dumahim1219d ago

@Elda
The warranty is valid from the date of purchase until it expires, regardless of how many people it has gone through. A different colored faceplate isn't going to change that.

@dumahim

"Disclaimer:
The retro inspired conversion process requires a complete disassembly of the DualSense controller. This will void the DualSense hardware warranty provided from Sony. Do not purchase this product if you’re expecting warranty support for your DualSense controller from Sony.

Your console will not be disassembled as part of the conversion process. The side panels will be temporarily removed as part of the conversion process."

The modders do not make any guarantees about the console but the controller warranty is toast. This is still all a bit risky if you want to buy a fully warranted console.

@RazzerRedux

Yes, I was referring to the consoles as that's what others were talking about. However, with the controller, it's been covered many times. Opening something and taking it apart does not void a warranty. It would need to be shown that any failure was a result of whatever was done with it. Taking it apart to change the color is not going to cause a trigger to fail.

https://www.ifixit.com/News...

"Here’s the bottom line. Under US law, these are the actions that do not void your warranty:

Modifications or improvements (like painting the case of a device or upgrading its software), as long as those improvements don’t damage the product:

Performing an upgrade that requires opening the device (like adding more RAM, or a bigger hard drive), as long as you don’t damage the product while opening it

Repairs to fix accidental damage (like a broken screen), so long as the repair doesn’t damage other components

Casual disassembly and tinkering for curiosity’s sake, as long as you don’t break anything in the device
See the pattern? It’s your device—do whatever you want with it. Of course, it’s worth noting that warranties won’t cover any new parts you install in a device. "

You can even install new parts in there if you want, and you still have a warranty as long as those changes did not cause the failure and the warranty doesn't cover whatever you added. This is covered under the Magnuson-Moss warranty act and has been around for a long time.

Very cool a faceplate that maybe one day we can all just buy. I'd love a ps5 logo on it in the same design that was on the original fat PS2.

Just spray the panels or wait for eBay types to come Along.
