S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Official In-Engine Gameplay Teaser

IGN writes, "Get your first in-engine look at the first-person sequel S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 and its Zone through the eyes of its main protagonist, Skif. As developer GSC Game World puts it, this teaser represents "how the game actually feels: fast-paced change of scenery, ominous landscapes and the ever-present feeling of an inevitable danger accompanied by a barely-distinguishable guitar soundtrack." S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is due for release at some point in 2021 on Xbox Series X|S (day one on Xbox Game Pass) and PC."

I picked up all the old ones on Steam with a discount bundle recently. Hope they hold up pretty good by today's standards. If the storytelling is as good as Metro I'll be happy.

It will. The AI surpasses anything made today. Just dont rush through it, explore everything and take in the atmosphere. Also it has retro FPS animations so once you get used to that its a better version of Fallout.

It's not as good as Metro. The story telling that is. Overall I think Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripyat are both far superior games over Metro though. Clear Sky just sucks.

Timed console exclusive. In fact, it said "console LAUNCH exclusive". So it's only exclusive for the launch. I'm thinking could be timed for about no more than 3 months

It will be out on other platforms maybe 6-12 months. It's hard to know what launch exclusive means because sometimes it means a year

No. It won't be anymore than 6 months. Why not just say "timed console exclusive"?. Why mention the 'launch' at all. It's because it's different, it implies a shorter time span.

How old are you? Were you around when Killzone 2 was first shown and they had no idea how they were going to live up to it? What about Final Fantasy XIII that looked incredible in the CGI but (while still pretty) was a huge step down in-engine.
Think about all the CG trailers for WOW, The Old Republic, LOL and countless indie games that are in no way representative of the game they are making.

I think “In-engine” is very important to mention in a reveal trailer.

I think he means that using it as though it's representative of what we'll see when it's in our hands has long become meaningless and noone takes trailers seriously unless it's actual gameplay anymore.

That's no coincidence. Metro was developed by some of the people who worked on the original Stalker games. It's widely considered as Stalker's spiritual successor.

Been burnt one too many times by impressive "in-engine" trailers that don't represent the final product at all. Hate to sound passimistic but until there's some beta footage that closely resembles the final product I ain't getting on the hype train.

Well, "In engine" is NOT the same thing as "gameplay." It's an overused term that's pretty much ALWAYS manipulation to make you think a game will look this way, when in reality it won't/doesn't.

So yeah, hold out until you see that "gameplay" tag added.

Sadly... Even "gameplay" trailers can be misleading. Anywhere from downgraded graphics to removed features. I hate the fact that the current state of the industry has made me so cynical.
