I Don't Believe Cyberpunk Will Be Fixed In Two Months (And I'd Get A Refund If I Were You)

From The Gamer: "In a message that began "Dear Gamers," CD Projekt Red addressed the pixelated elephant in the room that is the shoddy (to put it gently) performance of Cyberpunk 2077 on PS4 and Xbox One. The message outlined the path forward for last-gen console updates that began with a hotfix over the weekend and will continue with two large patches; one in January, and the second one in February. CDPR claims that these two patches "should fix the most prominent problems gamers are facing on last-gen consoles.""

Nope sorry, no matter the amount of reports of bugs/glitches/apologies, i am getting this game this weekend (Series X).

I may encounter some bugs, but that is nothing new in today's gaming industry. I will await patches and enjoy the game.

After all, the majority of the reports say the city looks good, and the story is engaging. An AI character not looking at me the right way is not going to stop me playing.

DJStotty1249d ago (Edited 1249d ago )

What for buying a game that is working on a platform?

The game is working on Series X and PS5, the base consoles are the issue, that "problem" i am not a part of.

Are PC gamers part of the problem as well?

The game is trying to run on 7 year old hardware, it's a given it will struggle.

RgR1249d ago

Most people. Especially a dev with a good track record is given the benefit of the doubt or at least the chance to fix things.

It really shows that when it comes to dev and consumer relationship. The consumer will kill you if you disappoint. Quick to pull the trigger. In other words there isn't any actual trust or good will.

Biowares and EAs issues were consistent with nearly every game they put out for many years.empty promises and predatory mechanics. Much worse than a good game with severe technical issues only on 2 of the six consoles + pc.

The narrative that this is a horrible game is simply untrue. The game is very good. If you don't experience the many bugs consistently it becomes an amazing game. Based on reviews and what I've heard from others. Specifically others who don't really spend time online looking at the news...which means they're totally oblivious to the reception this game is getting .

anast1249d ago

@DJ According to CDPR's marketing strategy, it was supposed to be made to run on 7 year old hardware. Therefore, I do see how it not performing well on hardware is an issue. They are professionals, they new the parameters and they purposely overpromised to sell more games.

Army_of_Darkness1249d ago

Best solution, get your full refund and purchase it a year later when everything is fixed and running the way it should, plus it will probably be half the price. Why pay $80 for a broken game? Unless, you don't care like some people and won't mind them rushing out another broken title the next time around... 😔🙄

RacerX1249d ago

Game runs great on a High powered PC. I'm all good right now.

mikeslemonade1249d ago

It’s the gamers fault, period.

ManMarmalade1249d ago

If the game is getting huge patches and fixes coming then the player is not really part of the problem just for supporting the dev. I'm also enjoying the game (on PC) and I played the first 4 hours on my friend's PS4 (obviously has more noticeable problems but was still enjoyable). CDPR sticks to their games and fixes them, give free DLC, and continue to support their games. I'd rather play Cyberpunk than another copy of Skyrim.

SyntheticForm1249d ago

"We leave greed to others"

-CDPR

GreenDragonCVR1249d ago

No, you are (and your cozy perception of yourself and the "consumer" at the center of the universe). In another world we'd be talking about this fine game instead of how it doesn't work on your seven year old hardware.

1249d ago
StrawberryDiesel4201248d ago

Why? Game runs well enough on Series X. Probably how it should have ran on the One X. Once it gets the next gen upgrade it will most likely be on par with pc version. If someone wants to experience the game right now, PS5 or Series X are not a bad alternative.

I would agree with you if he said base xbox one or PS4. Those versions are terrible and should not be condoned or supported.

VariantAEC1245d ago

@RgR
Well that's just it isn't it. I guess you forgot but CDPR has a downhill trajectory with each release the quality of the game itself has been getting worse. The graphics improve the game functions less and less accurately.
They should've just delayed it without a date or with a distant placeholder date. Instead they made a mockery of their brand by releasing this game in a garbage tier state.

Gamers are rightfully panning this. It is quite obviously unfinished with massive amounts of bugs, visual glitches and game breaking progression issues. I don't recall The Witcher bugs or many The Witcher II bugs even with The Witcher III bugs were fairly light but performance on consoles particularly was subpar (but playable). Now we get a totally broken game on all platforms and people are saying this is CDPR's first offense! No, it's just their first nearly totally unplayable train wreck.

I personally don't think that the next gen consoles will do any better than the current Series X BC version. Maybe a resolution bump, but that's about it. I don't think we'll see RT on console versions as even the RX 6900XT can't do RT at this stage. Given how weak current crop of AMD cards are in terms of RT, you're good if you have the game on Series X.

Aside from techical issues, it is a brilliant game. Whatever people may say, this is definitely salvagable. Do invest your time in doing side missions. There are some brilliant ones, one that sorta pays homage to John Wick too.

SullysCigar1249d ago

The AI is broken on all platforms and the bugs and glitches are not related to the hardware they're running on either. There's SO much to be done to make this world as believable as even 8 year old open worlds (like GTA) - so where's the progress?

Once I see these things have been fixed, I'll buy it. I'm not denying myself the enjoyment I'm paying for just because I liked The Witcher 3. They can damn well earn my money - just like I had to!

RgR1249d ago

Great to hear the more sensible people. Everyone has gone from loving CDpr to being sworn enemies.

When you have friend like these....
I hooe with their next game that they leave the console versions behind and stick with releasing only on pc and maybe a year later on console.

shuvam091249d ago

@SullysCigar I think the bugs are affecting gamers on a case by case basis. I personally haven't faced any major game breaking issue (apart from that street fight at Arroyo). Sure, there were moments where loots were locked out. But apart from that, it's been good. As you said, the NPC AI does have a lot of scope for improvement. But the enemy AI, I didn't care much. I was meant to be a god in this world lol.

My pov is as follows: The game and the story is brilliant, and I wouldn't want to wait to finish it. But since there are multiple ways the game ends, I'll only begin a new playthrough when they're done fixing the game and adding stuff (maybe in a year). Guess I'll just be a d!ck on my current playthrough.

Freshnikes1249d ago

Don’t insult john wick. The game is not good Ai. Is terrible the police ( warrant) thing is a mess. The physics ( where do I start ) everything is preprogrammed. I’m glad you like it. But the problem with this junk is not the graphics is everything else ( this is a 2020 game ) so this is what I have to look forward too in 2021 with a highend pc. So sad

ufo8mycat1248d ago

People are expecting too much with RT on PS5/Series X. RT takes up A LOT of resources. RT on Spiderman Miles Morales is minimal, but I don't think most people realise this.

I would say that there will be 2 modes for the true PS5/Series X version for Cyberpunk.
Quality mode : 1440p - minor RT, High settings equivalent to PC, 30fps
Performance mode : 1800p, Medium quality equivalent of PC, 60fps

That is the best I think these new consoles will get, which is fine, as the game looks amazing on High settings on PC, but don't expect a high level of RT that only high end GPU's can deliver.

Vanfernal1249d ago

The AI is busted even on PC. People don't react when the cars are shot at, police spawn out of nowhere and disappear if you go down a block, if you park the car in the middle of the road the cars never go around, they just pile up on a straight line all the way to the horizon, etc. You do yourself a disservice if you don't research this issues before making a blind purchase. Go to YouTube and you'll see plenty of videos displaying all the fundamental issues (even on PC).

DJStotty1249d ago (Edited 1249d ago )

I have watched countless reviews/videos/funny glitch videos etc etc. The majority are on base consoles, i have the Series X. The game is running ok on the Series X and PS5 and PC.

Do the cars not driving around a parked car equate to a bug that is gamebreaking? no. (it is actually illegal in real life, so you could say it has a degree of realism).

Why should i not buy it just because it is buggy on the xbox one/PS4?

Bugs will be patched, the game will be fixed.

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

3 hours of Series X gameplay, looks like it runs fine to me.

Rather than following the article train of bad reviews. Just watch someone streaming the game, then make your mind up.

Redlife2g1249d ago

Aside from all that this game is pretty damn enjoyable on pc (rtx 3090) . I've been loving it so far and damn the world they created is beautiful.

VariantAEC1245d ago

DJStotty
Funny I wonder where the "F," "C," "D," buttons are on PS and Xbox controllers.
I'll just leave this here for you to mull over: https://youtu.be/OKo_Ysti9p...
Note how every system has the same bugs and glitches? Also note that even when an Xbox and PS controller prompts are on screen the performance is generally really good (signifying the game is being played either on Series S or X or PS5). You can't disguise those PC prompts though... So obviously you're mislead or intentionally lying.

My friends on pc are truly enjoying the game. And they've encountered some game breaking bugs...but as typical with pc gamers. Save often and you'll be fine. Nothing new if you've played fallout and elder scrolls games.

You're in for a treat, if you don't get horrible bugs all the time of course. Just remember to save often ...different saves...if that's possible on console.

DJStotty1249d ago

Thanks RgR for the advice, i'll make sure to save often but really looking forward to playing this at the weekend.

Father__Merrin1249d ago (Edited 1249d ago )

The game is broken your best waiting and get an experience as intended. Stop saying to yourself it's running OK which it clearly isnt

DJStotty1249d ago

What version of console are you playing the game on?

Jin_Sakai1249d ago

“The game is working on Series X and PS5, the base consoles are the issue, that "problem" i am not a part of.”

The game is a buggy mess regardless of platforms.

DJStotty1249d ago

That is not Series X is it?

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

That is Series X

VariantAEC1245d ago (Edited 1245d ago )

@DJStotty
There are still several obvious bugs during that 3 hour stream and I didn't even watch 100% of it.
Jackie clipping into the cabinets was one before that there was the bouncer losing her bat then a patron in the bar in a t-pose after Jackie has his mishap he goes from standing to sitting in a frame he also runs into the lamp post after the mission collecting the bot we don't see if the elevator doors open for him in this stream because the player was looking elsewhere. Two of the enemy AI shoot out of the top and side of one of the vans during the car chase sequence. There was the issue with the sunlight clipping through the overhead structures which the streamer playing the game also noticed.

That's just the stuff I can remember off the top of my head from that guys first 2½ hours with the game on Xbox Series X!

Doomeduk1249d ago

Who would of thought the ps3 and 360 were such power houses that have
working Ai where the police chase you on foot in cars hell even helicopters in gta but apparently ps4 and xbox one are not powerful enough to have working Ai
Think ill drag the ps3 out of the loft and put my bag o shite pro in storage

annoyedgamer1249d ago

Im actually surprised people care about bugs now. EA has been releasing games in a broken state for years and people here would defend it or at least I think they were people

SullysCigar1249d ago

You're only as good as your last game. People are loving Squadrons, with no performance issues - even in VR it's flawless. Then they just gave us new ships, cosmetics and maps - all for free...

I'm no EA fan, but I can appreciate that. I AM a CDPR fan, but I cannot appreciate the state of Cyberpunk or how they've handled themselves.

I think this seems a pretty levelheaded approach to credit/criticism where it's due?

gamer78041249d ago

Plays really well I. Series x. Go for it, you’ll have fun

DJStotty1249d ago

Thanks, that is the demographic i have been hearing. I held off until i watched people streaming and the reviews of how the game performs on the Series X. Looks like it performs well the majority of the time, so i'm taking the plunge lol.

gamer78041249d ago

Yah I have 4 different consoles and it plays best on series x right now a few bugs but nothing huge.

RgR1249d ago

You'll enjoy this game but be aware you will be in the minority...at least when it comes to online representation .

1nsomniac1249d ago (Edited 1249d ago )

Well good luck to you. There are bugs yes, but although that’s the big talking point the biggest issue is the game mechanics themselves. It’s such a lacklustre game, the animations, gameplay, scripting. Are all so poor, that it makes for a pretty dull and irritating game to play. I’m playing it on a PC set to psycho graphics and unfortunately the shiny graphics wear thin pretty quick!

I’m not that far into the game but I’m already talking myself into playing it. Which is never a good thing.

Seraphim1249d ago

go get em Tiger. I'm thoroughly enjoying the game on PS5 despite the issues. Of which the game crashing is the most annoying but I've learned to just save often. The PS4 game I finished before starting CP77 was crashing too. Other than that I haven't run into anything game breaking; knock on wood. just your normal glitches that almost always find themselves in open world games. Titles like Elder Scrolls, several Assassins Creeds, the older GTAs, etc. Sure some open worlds are polished and great but even those you can find some glitches/bugs. Unfortunately with so much going on in open world games there are always going to be some weird glitches, bugs and things going on. Not to absolve or say CDPR didn't drop the ball because they did. They deserve some backlash releasing the game in it's current state. But again, it's playing fine for me on PS5. If you want to play Cyberpunk and own a next gen console then by all means. If you want to wait for patches then by all means. If you want to wait for the next gen upgrade by all means. Do you because that's what matters most.

DJStotty1249d ago

Thanks Seraphim, glad to hear it's running well and your enjoying it.

That is what i come to expect in open world games, it is practically impossible to iron out all glitches.

I had to cope with a lot of crashing on the series x with forza horizon 4 which kept making the series x shut down without even loading the game lol. I think i have that bug ironed out now though.

Yeah they do deserve a bit of stick for the base versions being in the state they are, but give them their due, they have apologised about the state and are currently fixing the game.

BenRC011249d ago

Welcome to a generation of busted launch games approved by fools like this.

DJStotty1249d ago (Edited 1249d ago )

Bit harsh calling everyone that bought the game a fool.

I repeat, i have not yet purchased the game, so your comment bears no relevance to me.

Seraphim1248d ago

a generation of busted launch games? you do realize Cyperpunk isn't actually a next gen game yet right. Sure you can play it on next gen but the free upgrade to next gen isn't available. just saying

Nofamboyism1249d ago

Just don’t understand why they didn’t just go next gen only. i mean it’s not rocket science. During testing (provided that took place as per normal project methodology) it would have highlighted the shit show on previous gen.

jznrpg1249d ago

Money money and money are the three reasons I can think of

JEECE1249d ago

Yeah, in classic fashion, everyone is overreacting. While I agree the game is unacceptable on the base last gen systems (and should have been cancelled on those platforms), you'll have a fine time on capable hardware. The bugs won't be anything you won't be ready for from playing other open world games.

Unfortunately "gamers" only seem to have two settings: 1) completely overhyped and 2) "the devs LIED! Anyone who buys the game is ruining the industry!"

I'm just hoping this experience convinces devs that chasing install bases on obsolete hardware isn't worth it.

QuarkZ1249d ago

Oh so you simultaneously think that the game is unacceptable on last gen and that "it runs surprisingly well" is not a lie from CDPR, gotcha...

You people are ridiculous. They did lie, just like what happened with NMS, and people still defended it with "it's not what they said and you hyped it too much, it's your fault". They talked about multiple features that aren't in the game at all and they never retracted. They sold something that isn't what was told. They absolutely lied about the state of the game.

Thing is, I play on PC and it runs well for me, but anybody saying that they didn't lie or that the AI is so fantastic and such a breakthrough, or that choices and lifepaths have consequences (like i read on youtube from someone) is just deluded at this point.

It's a great looking game, there's great animations and voice acting, but it's nothing that hasn't been seen before and it's extremely shallow once you go off the beaten path.

People don't get overhyped out of the blue, the company pushes out their narrative to get their preorders, then things change, are removed, or altered and more often than not, they don't say anything about and you have to wait months or years to even get what you paid for.

seanpitt231249d ago (Edited 1249d ago )

You have no idea haha this game is a disaster I can’t play it for more than 5 minutes without something killing my immersion plus the game is only average gunplay wise and on consoles the graphics are below average at best.. I played for about 30 minutes had a dozen bugs for example when I blew up a guy he kept on talking after he was dead and he repeated the same line of dialogue every 1 minute even his mouth was moving

Let’s not forget the police wanted system that is awful if you mistakenly shoot someone regardless of where you are the police spawn right behind and start shooting you could be on top of a building and they would spawn instantly behind you absolute horrible

jznrpg1249d ago (Edited 1249d ago )

Lol that’s funny . A talking dead guy , I would like to see that one but without all the other bugs that are there and poor AI

nickanasty2061249d ago

Game plays just fine on Series X. I haven't experienced any game breaking bugs, just bugs that are amusing/entertaining. If you were buying on a last gen console, i'd advise not to, but you aren't making a bad decision here. The only people who will be sour about it at this point are those who are stuck with a last gen console trying to run this game.

gleepot1249d ago

glad to know you'll eat up whatever garbage is served to you

mudakoshaka1249d ago

Go for it! I am playing on a PC, and the game is really great! There are bugs, but nothing that will dissuade me from playing this game.

dumahim1249d ago

I played a few hours the other day just to try it out (I had planned on waiting for the next-gen update) and it was right after the patch. The only issue i saw in that time was some junk loot laying around that I couldn't pick up.

1249d ago
Ninver1249d ago

Nice to know you're a proud shill. Some of us will gladly wait for a proper next gen update.

DuckOnQuack351249d ago

Get it I'm playing on series x and haven't had any crazy bugs. Don't let people disvourage

1248d ago
Christopher1248d ago (Edited 1248d ago )

Going in with this mindset isn't really good for you as a consumer and comparing the bugs in this game to most major releases? Laughable. Especially if you ignore that it's unplayable for tons of people on Xbox One. Very few people can get over that hump of major bugs by having better hardware.

I'm still enjoying the game, but those crashes every two hours? They shouldn't be happening. And I'm on PS5, so I'm not experiencing how bad it is on Pro or PS4. It's still not a game that should have been released, IMHO.

TheGoodestBoi1248d ago

Game runs fine Series X, Ive played it for a whole week now, as far as the bugs go Ive seen worse ( just turn off all the graphic options such as film grain, Chromatic aberration and motion blur and run it on quality mode)

GameBoyColor1248d ago

The AI wont look at you at all. Theyll just phase right through you even without batting an ai cuz all they're coded to do is walk and go into a fetal position.

April is right around when I expect to finally get a Ps5 so it works for me. Fingers crossed the proper next gen patch will be out by then.

RgR1249d ago

Only to some...specifically very extreme individuals.

MrNinosan1249d ago

I’ve spent over 50hours and love the game on PS5.
I will not ask for a refund.

I absolutely love this game.

DJStotty1249d ago

Have you experienced many bugs/glitches?

Or is it more or less bug free?

kenpachi1249d ago

Been playing on my ps5 and love it there's some bugs all right but the frame rate is far better than last gen version also the pop in aren't as bad it crashes about twice a day for me over about nine hours of play
I'm tempted to install on my ps4 just to see how bad it is compared to ps5

MrNinosan1249d ago

There are plenty of bugs, most funny one and nothing game breaking.
However the game crash about every second hour (23 crashes in 51h).

As the game autosaves all the time, and it takes less than a minute to get back into it, it has not been a big issue, even thou I’d appreciate ot even more without the crashes.

SullysCigar1249d ago

I'm guessing you came straight from PS2?! Just joking, good you're having fun lol

MrNinosan1249d ago

You said your joking but what does this have to do with PS2? If we don’t include the crashes, the game is amazing.

But anyways, 800 games on PS3, 900 games on PS4, and 21 games on PS5. So no, I didn’t come straight from PS2.

SullysCigar1249d ago

^ "You said your joking but.." Correct.

Master-Tonberry1249d ago

You're not alone.
I've put a similar amount of time into the PC version and I'm loving the game as well, and although it undoubtedly has it's fair share of issues it's a long way from being "broken" or "unplayable" on XBSX, PS5 and PC, the PS4 and Xbox One versions however are a complete write off and will likely never be enjoyable experiences.

For me at least the game was very prone to crashing at launch but since the initial patches I haven't had a single CTD or BSOD and the bugs and glitches have been limited to just weird visual oddities like floating NPC's or characters stuck in the T pose but even that has been infrequent. Nothing game breaking, just immersion breaking and occasionally funny.

Freshnikes1249d ago

Glad your enjoying it. But 85% of the of ppl who purchased this game are on ps4 ( base ) and Xbox ( base ) but who cares your enjoying it right. ( you are the problem)

chronoforce1249d ago

CDPR tweeted the pre-order split was 59%-41% PC to console. Since the PC version is relatively more stable I doubt that ratio has shifted much if at all.

northpaws1249d ago

Watch out for disagrees, you are not allowed to love this game. You have to follow the trend to hate this with your guts and curse it every chance you have.

warriorcase1249d ago

Same on PC. Im just under 20 or so hours in and have been digging it. 99% of the bugs I have seen jave been an odd UI issue or items floating which has been rare. I have seen the base console footage and it doesn't even look like the same game.

Games That Were Bad on Release, But Are Now Great

Vits16d ago (Edited 16d ago )

Sea of Thieves... I'm not disagreeing that the game has improved in terms of content. But I feel that the most significant change between now and its release is actually the public perception. Nowadays, most people are aware that the game is a multiplayer PvP-focused experience first and foremost, and not "Black Flag made by Rare". Consequently, people dismissing the whole experience because the single-player aspect is lacking or the story is plain are much less common.

darthv7216d ago

Several years ago, i submitted an idea to Rare that would change up the mechanics of battling opponents in the game. whereby if you died in battle, you turned into a skeleton warrior and had to fight your way back to the land of the living. It was an interesting twist on respawning and would allow the player to experience both sides of a battle.

I keep hoping to see something like that get added to the game.

Profchaos27d ago (Edited 27d ago )

This is the same leak the threat actors have been trying to sell the source code after cd project didn't pay the ransom.

They didn't manage to sell the source code to any company largely because it would be unethical for say EA to buy it so the threat actors failed to find a buyer.

After they failed to make any money they went through with their threat of simply giving it away.
