I got an Xbox Series X just for Cyberpunk 2077 but was it worth it?

Thinking about chipping in for a next-gen Xbox Series X to play Cyberpunk 2077? Here's my experience taking that next-gen leap.

You bought a Series X just to play Cyberpunk 2077 yet it runs better on PS5. The performance mode at least. Still the game needs a lot patches to fix bugs and a proper next gen patch either way.

phoenixwing1247d ago

i heard the game crashes alot on the ps5

CaptainHenry9161247d ago (Edited 1247d ago )

I heard it crashes on every console. A matter of fact it crashed on my PC a few times and I'm using a rtx 3080

FPS_D3TH1247d ago

I’m on a 3080 too with i9-9900k and my game crashed yesterday. Power supply issue or something as my gfx went black and my rams rgb was solid red. Tried rebooting and still got a black screen. Let it sit for a min and everything was fine. Card wasn’t even hot

phoenixwing1247d ago

@deth
That's your power supply not the game

Seraphim1247d ago

to be fair every game is crashing a lot on my PS5. Even Shadows Awakening which I was wrapping up from Wed-Sat when I finally got my PS5 [Wed]. That game would crash at least 5x a night & that game is 2-3 years old, not very demanding & ran on the Pro completely fine. So I don't think Cyberpunk is crashing a lot on PS5s because of itself. Personally I think Sony still needs to iron out their software. But I've also only played these 2 PS4 games so far.

I've only put about 6 hours into the game but so far it's running great; aside from those annoying crashes. There has been probably two major graphical hiccups along the way but nothing serious or game breaking. Just wtf moments. knock on wood

ssmilloy361246d ago

1080ti and it's the only game that doesn't crash

weird

Damn you are salty AF. Let the person play what they want.

He is playing what he wants. Op just disagrees.

Ignorance is bliss I guess.

If only it were that simple finch, but jin is in practically every xbox thread talking shit. That, my friend... is salty.

bouzebbal1247d ago

He never put a gun on him and ask him to play only in ps5.. Take a chill pill

I does not run better on ps5 it runs differently.

seanpitt231247d ago (Edited 1247d ago )

It runs better on ps5 but it’s running PS4 pro graphical settings at a little higher resolution the xbsx is performing worse on the performance mode but it has a higher graphical setting and more npc and traffic etc...

I have just gone from Spider-Man miles morales on ps5 to cyberpunk and it hurts my eyes and I just can’t play it

Neonridr1247d ago

yeah with toned down settings.. smh

@SpeakxThexTruth One of the only intelligent comments I've seen in this thread.

That's some good salt. Thumbs up.

They bought a Series X for a game that wasn't made for Series X. Not wise.

Gunstar751247d ago

Runs a touch better because of no npc's or cars lol

Tedakin1247d ago (Edited 1247d ago )

Have you seen the horrid crowd density on PS5 compared to Xbox Quality Mode?

Notellin1246d ago

Seriously people are having the hardest time grasping the concept of graphical settings.

gamer78041247d ago

DF said the best way to play cyberpunk currently is in quality mode on the series x, which after trying i would absolutely agree.

If you really did want to play in performance mode the series x drops on average 5ps more than ps5 but you get more scene detail and increased number of cities. I'd say either way atleast currently he chose the best way (other than an expensive gaming pc) to play cyberpunk 2077.

Jin_Sakai1247d ago

“DF said the best way to play cyberpunk currently is in quality mode on the series x”

They said if you want the the best looking version quality mode on Series X is the way to go. If you want the best performing version and 60fps PS5 is the way to go.

purple1011247d ago

There's a 20fps difference in places. I think 5fps is underselling it. But yes. More box's etc. But you have to think if xbox had the less nocs would it run same as ps5. I think both are equal to be honest.

Which is actually bad for xbox because it should run 10% better .. not EQUAL

Artemidorus1247d ago

You make it sound like many have the choice to go buy these new consoles...

Shiken1247d ago (Edited 1247d ago )

Even in performance mode the XSX runs at higher resolution, has more visual effects, and noticeable higher crowd and traffic density. Yes the PS5 has a more stable 60 fps, but it sacrifices a lot to get to that.

Here is the video from NX gamer, which picks up on a few things DF missed.

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

jznrpg1247d ago

It should run a LOT better it has a special patch because MS paid for it but it only looks a bit better and FPS is not good at all

gamer78041247d ago (Edited 1247d ago )

They did not say that... they said overall the quality mode is the best way to play, furthermore since 1.04 update the performance mode on Xbox has been improved. Also with series x you atleast have the option of how to play it. What you originally said to the author is just factually inaccurate.

Z5011247d ago

This was exactly my point when people say "They should've cancelled last gen version"
Some people specifically bought a PS4 & XBO for 2077. Cancelling it would be a slap in the face to them.

ClayRules20121247d ago

Yes, it would’ve been a slap in the face to them indeed. Especially considering development on this game started (from my understanding) before the release of the PS4 & XBO. This game needed time in the oven, to be cooked, improved upon and a delay would’ve been best for everyone across the board.

RgR1247d ago

Referencing your reply below.

I do think they should get the slap for buying a console for one game. Especially the base version. You dont get a return... $200+ to only play $60 worth.

I get what you mean but they could easily buy any other game from the generation at a very very low price.

RgR1247d ago

Well if they bought these consoles for one game...yea they should get the slap.

ClayRules20121247d ago

Lol. No, they shouldn’t get the slap. Many do that for one game. Especially with how the times are now, not many are going to be buying multiple games with their new consoles right away.

ClayRules20121247d ago

I get what you mean and appreciate you replying back. When I first replied to you earlier, I was referring to PS5/XSX consoles in all honesty, not specifically PS4/XBO consoles and realistically, some are buying those now for the first time, and could get other games at a low price, as you said. So, thank you for saying that!

Nismo4581247d ago (Edited 1247d ago )

Nonsense, this game was made for PS4 and xbox one.

RgR1247d ago

The devs themselves acknowledged that they didnt spend time on the base consoles...

anast1247d ago

What are you going to do with your SX after you finish playing the game?

1247d ago
SPEAKxTHExTRUTH1247d ago

The same thing I do with my ps5 after I beat Spider-Man and Demons Souls...wait for more games.

Popsicle1247d ago

Missing out on the Xbox One, I have more than enough to keep me busy on the Series X. This is not an excuse for their lack of exclusives and launch titles. Microsoft most definitely needs to do better, but I am not sitting around twit ling my thumbs.

anast1247d ago (Edited 1247d ago )

@fewdank not really I've been paying RDR2 since its release and just now uninstalled it. The writer said he bought the SX specifically for one game. I asked What he/she is going to do after they played that one game. Wait until next gen for the next "one game"? 10 years a game? Come off it.

Games That Were Bad on Release, But Are Now Great

BLG writes, "Some of the most popular games have had a rough start, with some of them being downright unplayable.

Despite that, developers have managed to turn it around for them and make their game worth playing. Here are some games that had a rough start but were pretty great."

Good list..hoped to see Street Fighter 5 there..and it is.

Vits11d ago (Edited 11d ago )

Sea of Thieves... I'm not disagreeing that the game has improved in terms of content. But I feel that the most significant change between now and its release is actually the public perception. Nowadays, most people are aware that the game is a multiplayer PvP-focused experience first and foremost, and not "Black Flag made by Rare". Consequently, people dismissing the whole experience because the single-player aspect is lacking or the story is plain are much less common.

darthv7211d ago

Several years ago, i submitted an idea to Rare that would change up the mechanics of battling opponents in the game. whereby if you died in battle, you turned into a skeleton warrior and had to fight your way back to the land of the living. It was an interesting twist on respawning and would allow the player to experience both sides of a battle.

I keep hoping to see something like that get added to the game.

Kaii11d ago

They consider FO 76 & ME Andromeda to be great now 🤭

anast11d ago

Every game in the last 2 decades...

INMATEofARKHAM11d ago

It's sad that this quick retort is more often than not true... The industry's acceptance of release and patch has gone too far.

gunnerforlife10d ago

Days gone! By the end of the game I couldn't drop it down! I went around so many hours killing zombies! It was addictive by the end.

S2Killinit10d ago

That game was just plain good game. It didnt improve, it was just good.

gunnerforlife10d ago

I don't know, I got it abit late, and struggled for a few days, and then all of a sudden it just got good!!

Well they are using unreal engine now thanks to there work culture and horrific job on making cyberpunk so for the future no impact.

But it will be interesting to see what mods will be made

just_looken23d ago

7 disagrees shows how many look at one dlc that had a rip off fight from ghost in the shell and goes wow what a goat team i love cdpr while ignoring that they only made 2 games that were good witcher 2/3 in 20yrs.

But its a new world we want a criminal that support's legal murder as president/support shoplifting love toxic work environments and have a mass casualty event every other day.

GhostMirror23d ago

I’ll admit I didn’t play it at launch, but Cyberpunk 2077 is a really good game now.

And who the hell knows what you’re even going on about in your second paragraph here.

EazyC23d ago

Wait a min...I swear to god CP2077's source code got leaked before. CDPR needs to stop using "password123" for all their accounts 😅

just_looken23d ago

Na its hundreds ex employees no doubt just getting there revenge.

Profchaos23d ago (Edited 23d ago )

This is the same leak the threat actors have been trying to sell the source code after cd project didn't pay the ransom.

They didn't manage to sell the source code to any company largely because it would be unethical for say EA to buy it so the threat actors failed to find a buyer.

After they failed to make any money they went through with their threat of simply giving it away.
