It might've released in 2011 but, even now in 2020, the PS Vita is very much still worth buying.
Why didn't the PS Vita get more love again?
Not sure if the Nomad and Express should be on this list. Meaning that while they were portable, they didn't have their own games and instead relied on the same games the console hardware used. Neo Geo pocket, Lynx, Vita... those are dedicated handhelds with their own software library.
If criteria is simply to just allow for handheld gaming then the supaboy should be on there as well.
The Nomad should have never been made, that big cartridge on the back. Sega was throwing out money. I thought the Lynx was solid. I never knew about the Turbo express though
DS: Hacking a PS Vita has never been so easy.
Why is this news if sony doesnt want it get out of the way and let modders make games for it. There are people still making games for sega dreamcast and genesis if you abandon something dont be a ahole when someone else tries to support it. Thats like some deadbeat dad coming back after 20 years and yelling at the man that raised him thats my son leave him alone lol.
I've avoided CFW because I am afraid of being banned and also was unsure how trophies would work with syncing, and then Sony constantly patches these.
Sony removed the ability to transfer games from PS3 to Vita, which unfortunately locks Vita players out of a lot of PS1 classics.
Sony really hates the Vita. Years later and they're still finding ways to snub owners of the device.
It seems like this was included in the most recent PS3 and Vita fw updates. So as long as i dont upgrade my systems... it should still work.
A Vita well worth it I took it on the road when I went away for work same with my PSP, DS 3DS, use to play my Game Boy on the bus coming home from school. If you have a PSTV then you're even set they are expensive but they are also worth it play Vita games on your tv.
You really shouldn't get it, now, unless you are using it for emulation.
I doubt there's many more years it will even be supported via the Playstation Network.
It definitely is an awesome emulation machine, and there are some great games to be had.
GTA 3 with Vice City and San Andreas to follow.
You got Mario64 natively playable on it.
You have classic multiplayer games like Quake/2, Counter Strike.
Morrowind is also apparently possible and there's most likely people working on porting it over.
You have N64 emulation being worked on, and PPSSPP being ported over as well.
There's a bunch of classi PC games all running natively on it.
The modding scene has been pretty incredible, and that alone is reason enough to buy a vita.
I still play the vita a lot even now. To be fair I still play my ps3 too. I'm forever playing catch up thanks to all the games I've collected from ps plus over the years. And that's in addition to the games I've bought.
And as Inverno said, the mods keep a lot of people around to tinker with it.
My Vita is used when I have doctors appointments and have time in the waiting room. I recently took an airline trip and again the Vita came through in the clutch.
