Three Things We Want from Project 007

Jacob S. from Link Cable Gaming writes: "After a brief teaser yesterday, IO Interactive was quick to show off their next project with it being a new James Bond title simply titled Project 007. This is a surprising take, but not one that is unwarranted as there have been countless James Bond games over the years that have been terrific or even groundbreaking video game entries. In part of this announcement, we here at Link Cable Gaming wanted to take a moment to discuss our expectations for this upcoming project and what IO Interactive needs to achieve to make this the next great James Bond instalment."

Project 007 has an opportunity to include a crucial James Bond element

Details about the new James Bond game Project 007 are slim plot-wise, but Hitman developer IO Interactive has a chance to explore this piece of 007 lore.

Would be cool if you could choose from all of the Bond actors to play through the game with.

porkChop420d ago

To be honest I'd prefer if they create their own Bond with their own voice.

Snookies12419d ago

I'm fine with any direction they take it, honestly... I'm just excited to see how it's shaping up down the road. I just hope it doesn't borrow too heavily from their Hitman gameplay mechanics. I love those games, but I want to see a different approach for 007.

gangsta_red419d ago

That's an interesting idea, each Bond with a specific skill set and stats giving the game a sort of RPG flavor.

I personally would love to play as George Lazenby's James Bond...the best Bond ever

What I like about the sound of this is because it’s a video game they can make Bond look almost exactly like Ian Fleming imagined him going off the drawings

camel_toad419d ago (Edited 419d ago )

I wonder if they'll go with a big actor instead just to draw in non-gamers and filthy casuals (as the kids say).

As you say though I'd prefer them go straight for the source material for the look.

-Foxtrot419d ago

I hope they do, it's a video game, this is the best chance to have a Bond that looks exactly the way Flemming pictured him.

I just hope they don't try and be edgy with it

Hopefully they'll include their own Bond theme song, whether they get a big name or someone unknown

Deathloop had like 3 songs made for the game and they were fantastic, even The Callisto Protocol had a theme song by King Elliot and it was beautiful.

Project 007 & Project Dragon To Not Release Before March 2025

IO interactive's latest annual report for year ending 31 March 2022 indicate that Project 007 & Project Dragon will not release for 3 years.

Orchard619d ago

That is a lot further out than I was expecting... but I'm still super excited to see what IO can do with the 007 franchise.

-Foxtrot619d ago

I just hope it’s a good Bond game that can separate its self from Hitman

Oh and I really hope they have a theme song created for the game, there’s a lot of artists to choose from

REDGUM618d ago

Always chance of a delay here lol.

rlow1618d ago (Edited 618d ago )

Wow, it really seems that game development for AAA has become longer. I wonder if this has to do with the fact that developers are adding in more ways to milk gamers?
Game engines like Unreal are supposed to make it easier and cheaper. Obviously that doesn’t seem to be the case.

MIDGETonSTILTS17618d ago

I don’t think they need extra years to set up mtx x revenue streams.

They need those years to push boundaries. Just because the new tools make development easier doesn’t mean it is easier than it was 10 years ago. The new tools just help mitigate newer headaches, so that dev time doesn’t continue to grow.

rlow1618d ago (Edited 618d ago )

True, but it seems that with all the broken content coming out these days. That something has changed, that has really upped the cost and time of development. I haven’t really seen anything that pushes the boundaries. Unless your talking about graphics, but even then we haven’t seen a true next generation of graphics in a game outside of tech demos.
But just my take.

**There wasn't any E3 2022.**

Calling it that is fiction. But I would have liked to have seen Replaced. That 2D looked awesome.

neutralgamer1992689d ago

E3 doesn't exist anymore

and one game almost everyone is waiting to hear more about is GOW. Really hard to believe any rumors about delays/release on time because the voice actor for GOW got sick and had to take a long break. I want this game when it's ready because i much rather get the full game instead of release followed by patches

Eonjay689d ago

My guess for GOW:R is November 18th.
