Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Doesn’t Run in Native 4K on Xbox Series X

Like the PlayStation 5 version of the game, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla doesn’t run in native 4K resolution on the Xbox Series X.

Well after seeing Gears 5 running on the Series X, it was safe to assume that a game that is massive as AC: V was not going to be native 4K at 60 fps.

As long as it stays at 60fps, that’s all that matters.

yeah totally agree, Native 4k is a pipe dream for now, locked 60fps above all else pls with good temporal image reconstruction / CB. Native 4k is a waste of resources.

Rude-ro1280d ago

Frame rate over resolution,
If we want to be “wow’ed” this gen....
4K should be of no concern.

I would even gladly take 1080p at 120fps. Even if the game was native 4K and 60fps.
The more images moving faster means a clearer image and far better sense of control.
I game using 1080p and 200fps at max settings. This makes me say wow as far as graphics go more than “4K”.

Do not get me wrong... IF 4K was moving at 200fps.. it would be nuts.. but we are not there yet. Not even on the new gpu’s.

Not saying “Sony” because they are making it happen... but Sony has been focusing on NEW game engines and better upscaling techniques over resolution.... just if they could focus on frames now.. that would be awesome.

A huge chunk of AC games couldn't even run at 60fps anyways. don't even get me started on AC Unity or the original games which were all equally messy in performance.

zawepa1279d ago (Edited 1279d ago )

there hasn't been a AC game that could run above 60fps if you gave them all the power in the world. Ubisoft's biggest issues. not even a $1,500 PC could either. proof. https://www.dsogaming.com/p...

S2Killinit1280d ago (Edited 1280d ago )

Not sure why they said that series x would be 4K then. Why lie about it...

Babadook71280d ago

Yah. It could have been a last minute decision to lock frame rate?

TheOtherMoon1279d ago

You are aware that neither system runs the game at native 4k, right... Or did you only read the title and not even the first sentences of the summary line? The issues is not with either system...its just a fact that the game is not running natively at 4k. You fell for a misleading headline.

S2Killinit1279d ago

Im fully aware. My question is, why did they pretend that the series X had native 4k when it didnt.

neutralgamer19921280d ago

It's time for all of us to act as grown ups and stop this nonsense. If you like xbox brand buy it and enjoy it and if you like playstation do the same. Because of this fanboy nonsense publishers take advantage of us because we are too busy arguing. I think any gamer would agree the most important thing in a game is locked frame rate. I would happily take 1440P at 60FPS

Starman691280d ago

Indeed. PS4 couldn't even run GTA 1080p 30fps properly. So big leap!!! Compare those two games and step bk. This gen is going to be awsome!!

Mithan1280d ago

Most games are not going to run at a native 4k this generation, unless they are old titles or graphically simple games. I couldn't care less either.

There is far more to graphics than resolution. Something the simpletons don't get.

So much for 4K @ 60 vs 4K and 60 debacle.

RaidenBlack1279d ago

PS5 boots AC Valhalla 34secs faster than XSX and full 2mins faster than One X.

Typical Ubisoft. Their release said AC:Valhalla would be “4K at 60 FPS” on both consoles. Over promise and under deliver.

GaboonViper1280d ago

The thing is though that statement is true, it does output at 4K, just not native, which Ubi never said, but of course certain people listen to idiots like Colt and Dealer and think XSeX will have a 40-50FPS advantage over PS5, meanwhile people with brains know that these consoles are really close with Xbox having a slight edge, but thats it, both consoles are well built and will other excellent competition to one another, the only winners are us, the gamers.

Challengerscatpack1280d ago

Well, native 4K is the only true 4K but I see your point. As for the rest, I don’t really care about that lol. I got my Xbox yesterday, my PS5 should hopefully be here by the weekend. As long as I get better looking games, I’m happy.

Smclaren19851280d ago

Exactly they never actually stated native even on the website. It was other websites misquoting I looked at all the actual comments made and none said native 4K. The just say at 4K resolution which like you said is true . Only sone sites reported the truth some saying although the ps5 was upscaled the actual resolution on series x could be the same. It was fanboys making something out of nothing it’s absolutely silly. Performance is the most important but it needs to have a descent resolution too. 1080p looks awful on my 60 inch tv esp now I’m used to 4K . 1440p or above sas long as the other effects are higher at 60 is more than fine with me.

GaboonViper1280d ago

Enjoy BOTH your new consoles.

Challengerscatpack1280d ago

I will! PS5 still hasn’t shipped, stupid Target.

CR7JUVE18971280d ago

@Challenger

Aside from your username being my dream car just in time for my middle aged crisis, I am in the same boat as you in regards to Target. In fact, as of yesterday they hadn't updated anything online since I pre-ordered my PS5 in September. Thankfully they just updated it today, and a customer service rep I spoke to said that I will get mine either Friday or Saturday. Which is cool, since I just hooked up my Series X 10 minutes ago

Challengerscatpack1280d ago

Nice man!! If you get a Challenger you will love it!! Try to get a scat pack at least, it’s stupid fast. It’s a blast to take to the track and I wasn’t a track driver prior to owning it. The torque down low is a kick in the pants too, squealing tires for days.

As for Target, yup. I got my Xbox from Best Buy during pickup. But both my Xbox’s (for friends) and my PS5 are coming from Target. They didn’t even ship the Xbox’s till Monday and they’re scheduled for tomorrow. Target kinda screwed up the launch being days late but I guess having one is better than not having one. I’m still waiting on a shipping confirmation for the PS5. Have fun with your Xbox, it was fun for the 20 minutes I played last night. Spent 3.5 hours downloading updates and transferring data over, kinda killed it lol. Enjoy!

Smclaren19851280d ago

Fantastic enjoy both my friend 👍 I couldn’t get a series x but got a ps5 I will at some point though

Starman691280d ago

Reviews say that it didn't under deliver... Maybe some peoples expectations are too high for the machine. Upscalled 4k from 1440p or 1800p in 60fps , with all the bells and whistles , it awsome for a £450 console inc. ssd

Smclaren19851280d ago

It sure is , the performance of these at the price is really really good

boing11280d ago

To be fair, they said that for XSX. For PS5 it was 'up to 4k'.

SamTheGamer1279d ago

So Sony said the truth and didn't lie like MS.

Modern Games Are Getting Too Long

While there’s a lot to love about modern video games, there is one trend — particularly in the AAA space — that tends to grate: their length.

Games are coming out with too much fluff and side activities that are horribly dull. That's my main issue with all these open world games. Open world should be about exploration, discovery and wonder, not have some stupid 10s or 100s of boring activities spread throughout.

IAMRealHooman47d ago

100% agree
All these ubisoft titles, Farcry, AC, Ghost recon, boast huge maps, but with the same, 3 missions or the same base to clear 100s of times. Hour 1 of any of those titles is the same as hour 100, there big for the sake of being big, with the illusion of player freedom, where we really want depth and player expression.

Ninver46d ago

Give me a solid 15-20 hour engaging single player driven IP any day. Life's too short you dig.

isarai47d ago

I stopped buying overfluffed games like a decade ago. Cant stand games with the Ubisoft mindset of just filling maps with uselss collectibles and fodder. Make it mean something. Ill gladly take 1/4 size of the map and 1/10th the "content" if it all meant more, were more unique and greater affect on your progression.

Abnor_Mal47d ago (Edited 47d ago )

Well people complained like the world was ending when a few games were six to ten hours of gameplay. Developers listened and started making longer games full of repetitive gameplay, time wasting fetch quest and other forms of bloat. In doing so they were able to justify the high cost of a game being sold to the customers at seventy dollars or more.

H947d ago

Filler, it's like a 80 episodes show where only the first and last episodes actually matter

Inverno47d ago

It's been a problem with pretty much every modern AAA game all through last gen and this gen. God forbid you point it out tho because all these big games are masterpieces and people lose their minds if you criticize them. Death Stranding is a fetch quest fest, but people will die defending it cause it's a "masterpiece".

Thanks for the warning. I sure would have hated to have been surprised by installing a ubisoft game on accident.

Because you can't play all the games on every subscription already

Valhalla is not on GamePass.

anast278d ago (Edited 278d ago )

I like Valhalla. The others haven't aged well.
