looks amazing indeed , especially for those who never played the original, almost like a new game completely .......just as a matter of preference as i ve finished DemSouls multiple times.... i ll get it later (when it gets cheaper ) and instead start PS5 s "journey" with Sackboy BA

Bathyj1297d ago

People forget that. Lots of people didn't play Demon's Souls. And for those of us that jumped in late to the Soulsborne genre this is definitely a big thing to play the game that started it all in the best possible version. And as far as console launch games god this is up there with Halo and Mario 64 is terms of quality.

4 days to go.

savedsynner1297d ago

Agreed. Looks like a very well made remake....but it still feels like Demon Souls and TBH, I'm a bit burnt out on the Souls combat engine. Sekiro felt different enough that it didn't feel stale.

Like you, probably in a year or two, I'll pick this up because if you still love that souls combat, or have never played, this has to be a day 1 purchase(assuming you can get a ps5).

NEXUS-61297d ago

Bluepoint have increased player movement/control, uour able to roll in 8 directions now instead of 4.

Other than that it's the Demons Souls we know and love.

nickanasty2061297d ago

I am really hoping that i can make it over the skill barrier so i can enjoy FromSoft games and actually continue on if so and beat DS1-3, Bloodborne and Sekiro. For some reason I never seem to get over the skill cap for this game, partially because I feel like i specifically have a rough time reading the animations of the attacks and knowing how to counter them correctly. This game does look next level, so I'm really hoping i can make it all the way through, then move on to enjoy the rest of the series played their best on next gen consoles with a higher framerate.

jznrpg1297d ago (Edited 1297d ago )

I was lucky to find about Demons Souls when it was only in Japan because of a friend so I did get to play it right away on PS3 in US . But even though I got the platinum for it I’m just as excited to play it like I did back then . I can’t wait to hear that hand bell lol, it scared the shit out of me every time

Sonic-and-Crash1297d ago (Edited 1297d ago )

..tbh og Demons Souls has one unique eerie feeling in its atmosphere (probably because its gigantic yet minimalistic environments).that didnt replicated in the remake ......the closest game that offered the same feeling is Sekiro in some areas...i think Fromsoftwre doesnt spoil its game making secrets so easily lol

Doesn’t look as brutal as I remember it. Maybe I was just terrible in 2009. Beautifully remade and the lighting looks amazing.

Sonic-and-Crash1297d ago (Edited 1297d ago )

agree ...looks a bit more fast action in animations and not that difficult , probably to widen the audience

SamTheGamer1297d ago

May be that was a super easy mode

Greg28011297d ago (Edited 1297d ago )

I mean he mainly showed the very first area with standard enemies, those enemies always die in a few hits.

And its looks faster because he is playing it in 60fps.

The game was not made easier to widen the audience...

Vanfernal1297d ago

They used the original code for enemies and such. They behave EXACTLY as they did back in the day.

smashman981297d ago

Nah its gonna be same difficulty. They probably just have a high-level character going through this stuff.

jznrpg1297d ago (Edited 1297d ago )

The character is probably higher level . You don’t one hit mobs to start out

DragonWarrior191297d ago

I bet it still will be but to any veteran player it'll be like returning home. It was so nice to see the game with everything looks new and fresh while still being exactly the same. Everything is where I remember it being.

NEXUS-61297d ago

They play with over levelled characters and know the enemy patterns and whereabouts.

It will take time for gamers to be able to play like that.

You will see 'You Died' a lot - don't worry haha

Miraak82 1296d ago (Edited 1296d ago )

Ohhhh it is ...........You probably forget you only can have limited amount of weight so you can't pick up armor, weapons and consumable if you go over your item burden . Repairing equipment is a thing , in soul form you only get half health , you die and world shifts into dark tendency making the game harder and more enemies appear . Also don't forget Soulsucker ... for anyone who hasn't played it you're in for a treat lol

robtion1297d ago

Finished this back on PS3 but will be playing again.

The character creator looks great. Such a nice upgrade. Characters in the original looked more horrific than the enemies.

Anyone upset that it isnt native 4k wasn't to going to play it anyways lol.

ocelot071297d ago

It is native 4K at 30fps. But Native 4K is something I would happily give up for that sweet 60FPS.

PlayStation is killing it with the exclusives this year. Exclusive wise, what has xbox released this year?

VersusDMC43d ago

They won't complain about Microsoft not releasing games here but put all their effort into saying that only first party counts. Games like Rebirth and Grandblue Relink don't count. Games published by Sony like Helldivers 2, Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin don't count because Sony don't own the studios.

It's some narrative building so for when Hellblade 2 come out they can say, seemingly without shame, that Microsoft is actually releasing first party games this year. And claim victory.🙃

Chevalier43d ago

Weird 1st party games didn't matter when Xbox had so little, but, now they're important again? Guess Ark 3, Stalker 2 don't count any more?

KyRo43d ago (Edited 43d ago )

ARK 3 doesn't exist and it's just a timed exclusive. It's also a game that a majority of the ARK player base doesn't want as it's a massive deviation from what people like about the original game

Abnor_Mal43d ago (Edited 43d ago )

Honestly to me it doesn’t matter what they say, they are just finally getting a chance to say all the things PS fan(boy)s were saying to them for the past few years. Let them get that, they deserve a “win” for a change.

The new narrative is that suddenly first party games matter again when awhile ago they didn’t, but that was because they were struggling with the same three games with the occasional fourth or fifth. That games should be everywhere on all platforms since that’s whats happening to theirs. The consoles don’t matter just the ability to play anywhere. Whatever Xbox is doing Sony will soon follow.

They’re not moving the goalpost anymore, but rather just moving the whole damn stadium.

jwillj2k443d ago

Only a incel would care about who published what and who owns who.

If it’s not on the other consoles it’s an exclusive.

Killing what? Where are the 1st party games??
Stellar Blade and FF7 is what I’m seeing this year.. so shallow!!!!

andy8543d ago

Doesn't really matter as long as they're great games. Baffles me why people put an emphasis on 1st party. They're still games you can't play anywhere else this year

Cacabunga42d ago

Andy

PS brand is my favorite because of their stellar first party software.. currently I see absolutely nothing to go crazy for..

CS742d ago

Nonsense.

PS1 and PS2 was built on great third party exclusives like FF, MGS, GTA & Tekken.

raWfodog43d ago

Of course I love the games I’ve played from PS but I don’t believe we need to limit it to ‘exclusive’ to acknowledge that Xbox will be releasing some good games this year also. In that same vein, I believe that Xbox diehards shouldn’t limit their acknowledgment of good PS games to 1st party. There are plenty of good games to go around for everybody.

Tacoboto43d ago

This is a Playstation article about Playstation games and your comment is about Xbox. Can't you just celebrate what PS has without dragging this into console war BS?

ChasterMies43d ago

I don’t think Microsoft is releasing games exclusively on Xbox anymore. They have some timed exclusives that release on Xbox first.

Returnal, Astro Bot, and Ratchet made having it since day one worth it.

GT7 free updates and Spiderman 2 and others at 60fps have made this last year more than okay.

But yeah, it’s been dry lately. BG3 and third party have made great filler, but we ready for that SOCOM or Killzone announcement and some more 1st party goodness. Crossing fingers for Ghost of Tsushima 2 announcement this summer.

Didn’t know Helldivers was exclusive! Wtf is going on at Xbox that they can’t get these games, series s strikes again.

SonyStyled43d ago (Edited 43d ago )

Sony owns the Helldivers IP. The first was a PS3/Vita/PC game. It was never an Xbox game that they could ‘get’ a decade ago. I’m not sure what the upset is with Xbox here

CS742d ago

Lol, how do you ignore Rebirth one of the best games ever made?

anast43d ago

Looks like they are on par with the previous gens. Solid games all around. Interestingly enough, we can't say they released a bad game yet this gen. Unlike the Quiet Man dustup.

I actually do not mind if Marathon releases on multiple platforms . I just wish that Marathon has a dedicated single player campaign.

DaniMacYo43d ago

Helldivers 2 is exactly what gaming needed. I’m loving it.

The 7 Best Co-op Games on PS5

There's no better way to enjoy your PS5 than with friends, so here's our picks of the best co-op games on the console.

Cacabunga136d ago

For coop, get a used switch instead

jznrpg136d ago

I own a Switch and have never played co-op on it. I do play Elden Ring , Demons Souls and some other co/op games with my friends on PS5. Baldurs Gate 3 is the next game I’ll play co-op. Can’t do that on a Switch

Cacabunga135d ago

I was thinking for couch casual immediate fun.. not online coop games that require some adaptation.
