This is so damn pretty, intuitive, and hella smart. This is truly next-gen stuff!

JUST A FEW MORE WEEKS!

SullysCigar1335d ago (Edited 1335d ago )

It is gorgeous - worth the wait lol

I love how the UI is integrated right into the games, offering loads of info and even shortcuts to parts of the game.

morganfell1335d ago (Edited 1335d ago )

From the beginning it’s simply next generation and completely amazing. Everything about this is player focused and putting you deeper into the game and multiplying the experience you get from the title.

Also love the fact there are several features that cut the worthless game press right out of the equation.

SullysCigar1335d ago (Edited 1335d ago )

I'm loving speech to text messaging to your friends!

And Watching your friends play a game via picture-in-picture as you carry on playing your game is awesome - you can talk them through certain parts in their game as you grind in your own game, for example.

xHeavYx1335d ago

Now people can stop cancelling their pre-orders /s

morganfell1335d ago

@Sully,

There so many uses for that PIP mode. It’s just simple genius.

And to expound upon what is making some people angry, it’s great to get news directly from the publisher with no unwanted opinion filter in between you and them and it’s right to you PS5. Goodbye wasted clicks.

SpadeX1335d ago

So glad PS Store is integrated now! Literally love all the new stuff and the UI is pure eyecandy!

SullysCigar1335d ago

^ @morganfell, Yes I'm thinking the PIP just kinda made ANY game have an online splitscreen mode!

Monster Hunter with your mates, for example, suddenly became WAY cooler...!

Sunny123451335d ago

No more browsing powerpyx for trophy guides. Damn, after so long on ps4 this seems freaking amazing.

darthv721335d ago

Looks pretty good. I like the activities part that tells you what you missed and how long to complete.

bouzebbal1335d ago (Edited 1335d ago )

Store being integrated in the console OS.. Not an app anymore.. Great news!!!
Looks sleek, hi tech and smells next gen.. The help video and activity cards are going to be a big thing!

UltraNova1334d ago

Pretty nice and intuitive. It also runs at 4K HDR which is great.

Is the Series X UI really running at 1080p? I seem to remember DF confirming that. I wonder why, considering the system is more than capable to run at 4K.

The PIP of you mates game is going to be a winner, and the genuine hints on how to complete a level - or the progress of tasks. Top shelf effort from all involved.

UnSelf1335d ago

the only feature im ambivalent about. I hardly use guides as it is, games shouldnt hold your hand

Ju1335d ago

Well, I wonder if that also will let you use other apps in pip mode. Funny enough, XBox One had a sidebar initially. Is this still a thing there? Looks nicely integrated into the game (UI). I have a you tube stream running next to a game, often (damn ADD), but that would be kinda cool to have that on the big screen. Maybe this time it'll work. Hints can be nice at time, I had used youtube once in a while for a (parallel) walk through. Its kinda cool that the game now directly offers it. I am done with hard mode, done it long enough. Now I just want to enjoy the scenery and don't need the frustration of getting stuck especially with games with ridiculous save points which just makes me to never touch that game for months.

NEXUS-61335d ago

UnSelf - Don't use it, how easy was that?

Obscure_Observer1335d ago

Game help feature is behind a paywall. :(

Other than that, cool new stuff. :)

Things that actually cost money to host and provide costs money. I'd get it if these were just website or youtube links, but they're obviously tailored content for specific content.

It's 100% not the best option, but it's understandable considering what they're doing, IMHO.

Edit: Thinking about it, would be neat for them to hyperlink out to similar sources for help if you aren't a PS+ member. Would make the function not feel like it's just paywall material, but something they can provide in a browser even if you don't pay for it. Simple as sending the google search query of the game, the trophy/objective, and showing search results.

It was very interesting.

I wasn't sure whether I really liked it a lot or will find it annoying. One of the things I like about PS5 is how quickly and with less movement and clicks you can start a game. This UI seems to focus on activities. One side of me is keen on activities because they will (probably) help me get trophy completion up. The other side of me is annoyed that trophies will probably become easier for everyone to get and not require as much exploration on your own.

And I love how fast games loaded. Not sure if that was straight from start or not for Destruction All-Stars but it was blazing fast!

All that news and community stuff is just annoying to me... I game, I don't sit there and make gaming into a social activity. For me, gaming is me only time. But, that is just me being old school on gaming. I can see how the modern generation likes it.

Bathyj1335d ago

Nothing wrong with being an antisocial gamer. I'm the same. Good thing is you don't have to use all that stuff but I must say all this integration is interesting.

dumahim1335d ago

Yes, DA was a fresh launch. There's no indication the PS5 will have multiple game suspends.

UnSelf1335d ago

agree with you on the trophy part.

i hate hand-holding in gaming

SyntheticForm1335d ago

This is next gen's main UI.

And, it looks great.

Muzikguy1335d ago

Definitely looks like a step forward from PS4. I like it

The switch from Sackboy @ 7:14 to Destruction All Stars's splashcreen @ 7:15 to its SIE logo @ 7:24.
Just sayin' 😏 ⚡

solideagle1335d ago

did they show multiple games running like resume feature? I think its so fast PS5 doesn't need it :)

Christopher1335d ago

Nothing like that was shown. And, personally, I'm okay with that. I'm not hopping between games and it's a very low priority item for me in my UI.

I am 100% excited about the PiP feature for watching someone's stream while gaming, though.

solideagle1335d ago

@Chritstopher
Thanks for replying, I am ok with it as well because I am single player gamer. was just curious that if I missed it.

NXFather1335d ago

No, and they did not confirm any quick resume to all save locations either. They specifically said "some points". Until they show otherwise that means basic loading. Twice as fast as series x basics loading and and twice as slow as series x quick resume depending on game.

Prem8tuaProcrastin8a1334d ago

@Christopher quick resume isn't about "hopping between games", it makes games you regularly play have virtually no loading times, even after the console is unplugged from the power outlet. It means if you use your console for anything other than playing 1 game at a time, and nothing else, you are straight into the games you want to play near enough instantly. Imagine this; you are playing cod campaign, and decide you want to watch some Netflix or youtube before bed, so you go to netflix, watch a movie, then power down and go to sleep. You go to work the next day, come home and fancy playing cod again, so you power up the XSX and are instantly back exactly where you were in cod, like you paused the game. That is seriously convenient and is just 1 example of how it can be used.

Christopher1334d ago

@Prem8tuaProcrastin8a:

What I replied to: "did they show multiple games running like resume feature?"

I think I answered their question.

mrsolidsteel201335d ago (Edited 1335d ago )

Interesting. It's pretty damn fast and I love this percentage feature.

PaleMoonDeath1335d ago

Crisp, clean and more than I expected honestly. Good solid UI, I already prefer it to the PS4's.

Christopher1335d ago

Yeah. At this day and time of them saying nothing, I fully expected it to just be the same UI we have on PS4. About time we get to see this and I like more than a few things about it.

Star Wars Outlaws Looks Like The GTA In Space We’ve Been Waiting For

IGN : This year’s Ubisoft Forward didn’t have much in the way of surprises, but it did have a ton of gameplay of two games that we’ll actually get to play in just a few months, Star Wars Outlaws and Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Outlaws in particular looks like a game we’ve been waiting our whole lives for, an open-world sandbox that lets us explore the grimiest corners of the most wretched hives of scum and villainy. It’s a premise we almost got in Star Wars 1313 and Amy Hennig and Visceral’s Project Ragtag, but both those got canceled. Unlike some past Ubisoft gameplay demonstrations, what we’ve seen of Outlaws seems like it’ll actually be representative of the game that’s coming out in August, so here’s hoping it delivers.

Konami didn't recover after ditching Kojima, but this Metal Gear revival is its best shot

With Kojima gone, a lot is riding on Konami's revival of Metal Gear.

Not really, Konami is basically in name only and like so many other Japanese studios that have come and gone they are just going to be an IP troll and milk that cow until it is dry. Also one of the advertised features is playing the game from a different camera view while everything else remains the same will just result in making the game easier like what happened with Twin Snakes.

Cacabunga3h ago(Edited 3h ago)

If this turns out good and gamers support it we will get the other ones.. i really hope we get MGS original in zanzibar, Peace Walker and Portable Ops remakes after this one.. they are related with naked snake

Portable Ops was sooooooo good and underrated

gold_drake57m ago(Edited 56m ago)

Konami might not be super active in the videogame business anymore, or less, but they still make a ton of money with their collections and pachinko machines.

and their castlevania series on netflix is really successful also.

isarai7h ago

When are people going to learn that all Konami is doing with these games Is licensing them out? They are not trying to revive their game development Branch and they are not the ones developing this. It is studios that came to them and asked to use the license to make a game and they have been doing this pretty much since MGSV

jeromeface5h ago

Remaking all his work reaks of desperation. The only reason they are getting away with it is everyones deep love for the series. If delta is successful (which as of right now it should be), they'll be sure to remake all of them.

Redgrave3h ago

Big shoes to fill, and compared to SH2 - this is as much a 1:1 remake as you can get. You can still see the PS2 bones in the movements and how the cutscenes have the same angles. If anything, I'd have preferred the reverse.... with SH2 being closer to a 1:1 remake but prettier, and have MGS3 have a little more freedom.

Ideally, MGS3 with a MGSV skin in terms of gameplay and freedom of approach. This is more like a high budget remaster than a remake. Having recently replayed the Bluepoint remaster, this is going to be like that same experience but even prettier.

But, as with both MGS3 and SH2, nearly impossible shoes to fill if not outright so. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Such is the legacy of these GOAT titles.

Inverno2h ago

It's a one to one remake, using the same voice recordings too. Not a reimagining, no new content thus far announced, just a straight remake of a game that already exists, but now with prettier graphics. There's no revival, they proved they can't make anything related to MG after Survival. They'll just remake all the games and people will eat it up.
