‘Avengers’ Can Teach ‘Destiny 2’ A Few Things About Battle Passes

Enough free credits to earn 6 battle passes (via 6 free premium battle passes) and no time limit.

monkey6021352d ago

F*k off Forbes!
Are we really pretending these "free premium" battle passes arent actually the games natural progression being used to soften the implementation of the paid ones?

Square are being scumbags and the amount of paid content we know about already is disgusting

exactly.... Forbes being forbes...

cloganart1352d ago

Did you even do your research into Avengers battle passes?

jukins1352d ago

No he's crying about cosmetics. . .and is obviously ignorant to the gact that you get 6 free ones for the original and credits get refunded. Avengers battle pass is basically for people who don't wanna grind to look different. Im so amazed at the dedicated ignorance and hate this game is receiving. From being called a button masher to a microtransaction money pit. Im so glad I've been able to pick up a free friends from beta who actually know what this game is about.

monkey6021352d ago

You could do with a lesson in Reading comprehension there Jukins. I directly referenced the "free" ones

Yes. I have looked into the Avengers battle passes. I've read the information release they had to put out in order to get people to understand the sheer amount in game market this game has. Exclusive content to mobile networks, Platform exclusives, Multi Character specific battle passes. Early signs point to this game being a money drain. You can guarantee those currency refunds are going to take a long time to earn too.

@Monkey

well the passes are for new characters. first 6 are free (current characters)

I don't understand the hate for this. The free characters will be released most likely like seasonal, and not only that but these passes never expire so they arent making people rush to buy them, in addition that they can be bought with in-game credits

Can someone tell me why its bad for them to be charging for cosmetic passes for character that will be free, along with their campaign missions and everything else not tied to certain cosmetics?

So people are upset about a completely optional thing while they are giving you a whole new character experience?

I've complained about Battle passes before because theyre there to make an urgency of needing to get it now or you miss out forever. Here I can play the game in a year and still access that content, and even free if I have enough credits earned.

yomfweeee1352d ago

Can you please explain to me why you think companies should add continuous content after the games release and it should all be absolutely free?

Old McGroin1352d ago

@monkey602

I get where you're coming from but from what I can see the first 6 battle passes are free and all the other ones can be unlocked through progression? Not 100% if I'm right but if I am that just reminds me of the old days that people keep wishing were here, unlocking stuff through progression. That's just my not 100% uninformed take on it anyway!

-Foxtrot1352d ago

Honestly the MT's and the like from this is disgusting

It's like the standards are so low now thanks to games LIKE Destiny that anything just a TINY bit better is now automatically good and we should praise them

I'm not buying this game, I love Marvel, I love the Avengers and I was once excited but an online clearly live service game, no thanks.

Give me a single play focused game like the PS4 Spiderman anyday

Old McGroin1352d ago

@ -Foxtrot
Are all the microtransactions cosmetic?

Old McGroin1352d ago

@ DaReapa

Cheers bud, personally I'm not too bothered about cosmetics, I'll just play the game and unlock stuff through progression.

wwinterj1352d ago (Edited 1352d ago )

Yes we also know of the free game changing content such as heros and missions. While youtube influences and the like are getting hot and bothered about cosmetics that don't change the game at all they seem to brush this fact under the rug. Seems to me some folk are looking for any reason to trash this game.

But Avengers already learned from Destiny 2 about battle passes.

Learned how to try and legitimize them and screw over people who buy and get into the game while saying they aren't. Exploit cult mentality.

Outlawzz1352d ago

Yes I must say I need to thank these guys, they have really made me feel like their microtransactions care about me. They have shown me they are the good microtransactions in a world of horrible exploitation.

So much value, so much content, so much unplanned extra goodies !

Damrock1352d ago

Battle-passes, Micro-transactions, season passes, Not forgetting the amount of games these days that have 3+ different editions of the same game.

Every year i get less and less excited about gaming.

ssj271352d ago

I definitely think is stupid i paid 60 plus tax for horizon zero down. My cousin got it for free by that time i aw kys been sold for $3.50 with the dlc included.
I never buy the dlc never played but whoever paid $3.50 had the opportunity to played but i who paid $60 don't. I mean sure sale the dlc but after a while why not include it to those who buy the game at a original price even if is after a year or whatever. That way if i don wanna wait i wll buy the dlc. This is stupid.

Or including free future dlc maps etc are a smart good way to make gamers buy the game day one at original price. It warranty the first time buyer a huge value and make us wwntng to buy more games days one. I hae learn to wait I'm burn on paying 60 and getting less only go get it first few months specially when now days games come buggy are are fix better months after and way cheaper with dlc included
