I've got it, it's fun, and original, and it's success is good for the games industry in general. Sure it's not everyone's cup of tea, but no need to hate on it, after all regardless of how good Gears of War 2, it would get boring if we only ever got to play the same style of game over and over.

As said so many times, It's a new IP. You shouldn't compare it to blockbuster sequels. It will sell progressively perhaps in small numbers, unlike the latter which could be sold out in just a matter of days.

Remember ICO? Though it was critically acclaimed , it did not sell in great numbers. All I know it was a great game that I played.

Bottomline: Everyone should just play and enjoy a great game, and do away with the numbers. Leave that problem to the developers and their marketing dept.

If you are trying to compare Gears 1 sales with LBP sales, they are completely different genres, Gears had a larger ad campaign, Gears appealed to the 360 fan base more (while LBP is often thought of as "kiddie" even though it isn't), and I'm fairly certain Gears didn't go up against a line up like we have this year.

@TheTwelve - That's because most people in this site (Mostly a Sony fan community) Thought that Fable 2 was going to flop in review and sells... and LBP was going to be the second coming, "The New Super Mario, the YouTube, etc" of gaming.

Also, because Fable 2 is a hardcore gamer game and an RPG... and 1.5 million for an RPG game on the xbox 360 is actually very good.

And LBP which is a casual game which is being hyped like crazy didn't sell better than Fable 2? mmmm.. I guess that's the answer to your question.

Note - For the record i am not pointing fingers at anyone in here because i can't actually remember the people on this site that said it the most.
I think people are coming down hard on this game because so many people were saying how LBP was going to drive PS3 adoption through the roof and mark the end of the 360 and so on so forth. I didn't see that happening for games like Fable 2 on this site, i might have missed it though.
Personally i don't care how the game sells because i don't have a PS3, however if i did though i think i would give this game a whirl because it does look different. I don't actually care how any games sell, i just like the play them.

I really like LBP, however it clearly isn't the game to push massive amounts of PS3 like many people on here said it would and the sales so far have been dissapointing. Isn't it funny how all these reports popped up on the Web talking about poor sales for LittleBigPlanet? Those idiots act like if a game doesn't sell in huge numbers its first week that it will never sell. This isn't the movie business where opening weekend sales matter the most. Some games sell huge on the first day. Others sell well over a longer period. And with the economy the way it is and so many other games coming out I'd say LittleBigPlanet is selling great.

I purchased my PS3 when MGS4 was released, since then I have 4 (yes, just 4....) friends, 1 of whom 1 know in real life and another is an XBL friend. Now to put it in perspective, in the same time period on XBL, I have gone from around 60 on my friends list, to around 90. However, from what I hear, Home will be a mssive boost to the community aspect of PSN.

It basically means that it reached each of those milestones in that month. Some of the other titles had reached those milestones in previous months. Eg. Wii Fit reached the 1million milestone in November, but had reached 600k in a previous month :)

I think, according to the article, that the award is given to games that sell over 100k in the UK, that's why he estimates european sales at 300k. Considering that this weeks sales figures aren't in yet, it is possible that it will sell more.

But 300,000 isn't such a bad figure anyway, it's certainly more than Banjo Kazoe, which is a comparable competitor.

For the record the week it charted 19, it was in the mid 40's on that Amazon UK chart (Fable 2/Gears 2 etc were low teens), so this is pointing out a trend as much as the raw position...

Is that LittleBigPlanet is not one of those AAA titles that will sell millions right out of the gate ala MGS4, Gears 2, Resistance 2, etc.

But what it will do is sell consistently until after Christmas, maybe up to February's release of killzone. I think it all depends on how Sony continues to market it and how much DLC Media Molecule is willing to bring to the table.

I love the game, and think that many others will be doing the same this holiday season

People just jumped to conclusions and over-exaggerated things as usual. If a game breaks a million copies it can be deemed a success, sales-wise. LBP is a success critically and commercially.

LBP sells as well on the PS3 as Madden 08 and 09 in the first 3 weeks on the Xbox 360 - and people are talking about what Sony did wrong. Holy crap, this game is set to top a million in a month. Do any of you have any clue just how rare that is?

that's the problem. I had a long fight with Kuest about this yesterday.

For some reason Kuest thought like most x360 fans that just because alomost everyone on NG4 which i think at most is 1000 people lol! hyped LBP it will "garunteed" to sell like hotcakes all around the world lol!.

LBP is nowhere near the level of hype like Halo 3 and Gears 2 in the actual market and yet x360 fans thought it will sell like them just because its hyped on N4G lmao!. Some people give N4G too much credit.

In the end it still sold pretty well when all factors are factored in and especailly for a casual PS exclusive with the PS3 price and installbase. The truth is. I really didn't know how well it will sell. I knew it will sell well but not really how well as its a new untested IP.

But 1 million in a month is perhaps only second to MGS4 which is pretty good if you ask me.

no-one gives a sh@t if you buy a 360. i have a ps3 and it does collect dust. i've tried to sell the sh!t but no-one wants it. i've offered all four games i have(MGS4,uncharted,RFoM,R2) warhark on the HDD. and no-one wants it. but back to the subject. LBP isn't sell well at all. you can claim all you want how you went into a game store and LBP was sold out. but with all these sites claiming sales suck. then you have to put the fanboy aside and except the truth. IT"S NOT SELLING AS YOU GUYS CLAIMED IT WOULD.

and between them 4 continents (5 if you include asia) there will be at least 500k sales

any howvg charts a very biased and 360 weighted site lists it at .8 million even with a 50% error rate thats still more then you numbers

What matters is that this game LBP is an instant classic..If people haven't bought it yet and even though its still selling very well, then you are missing out on an extraordinary experience! Just like how well received this game was in the media, you the gamer is missing out, of course not me, it's too good!
