I would may 100 bucks for Shenmue 3

Ryo-Hazuki5656d ago

If Sega took in donations, I would most certainly donate to Shenmue 3

Homicide5656d ago

I would also donate money for Shenmue 3. I don't care where it goes well except maybe Wii, but damn it I want another Shenmue.

AAACE55655d ago

Right now would be the perfect time to release a Shenmue title, cause they could make it a multiplat game, and increase their potential sales target! They could probably get it to work on the Wii as well.

When the Dreamcast went down, their main priority should have been to make all their games multiplat, so they could get the maximum return for their efforts. But I guess that would have been too much like doing the right thing...

I wish them luck.Please SEGA,make Shenmue III.

sinncross5656d ago

I have a question:
i've never played Shenmue but understand why ppl would like a third.

But being made from SEGA, is Yakuza not the spiritual shenmue successor?

Cause if so, then surely Yakuza 3 will be worth the wait if Shenmue 3 never comes?

Marcello5656d ago

I hear wat your saying sinncross but the problem is Shenmue II was left with a cliffhanger ending that many like me have played over & over now for 7 years so we want a conclusion. Shenmue is a game that you either love or hate, i love it there simply nothing else like it even Yakuza just doesnt match up.

I have posted this story over on the ShenmueDojo i beg all Shenmue fans to spread the word.

ThaGeNeCySt5656d ago

that cliff hanger ending was just... i dunno... the fact that Lan Di only showed up ONCE after Ryo beat up on that big guy (can't remember his name)... i need closure... i need to know what happens with both mirrors.. I need to fight Lan Di.... it needs to be finished like SERIOUSLY.... hell I'll even take a graphic novel or something.

Marcello5656d ago

The ending i am talking about was in the cave in Guilin when suddenly everything went kind of magic/fantasy and Ryo & Shenhua could cearly see that everything was predestined.

InMyOpinion5656d ago

I bought my Xbox just for Shenmue III. Also bought my 360 partly cause I'd heard rumors that Shenmue III was coming out for it.

If they are going to make Shenmue III it needs to have a big big budget and of course Yu Suzuki as director/producer. If not I'll pass.

Pennywise5656d ago

You bought your xbox for companionship... dont lie.

TheColbertinator5656d ago

I agree Jenzo.Shenmue III would a massive exclusive if it came to 360

InMyOpinion5656d ago (Edited 5656d ago )

And I assume you bought a PS3 because you enjoy being lonely?

DarkSniper5656d ago

Shenmue III is the absolute most requested game that Dark Sniper has. It's unparalleled greatness cannot be surpassed. Not even Kojima's masterpiece Metal Gear Solid series holds as strong a place in Dark Sniper's heart than Shenmue. Shenmue II was the primary reason why Dark Sniper owned an Xbox last gen and an Xbox 360 this generation in hopes for the sequel. But yet Microsoft and Sega disappoint once again.

If there will be a Shenmue III it's unknown what platform it will be or if it will remain exclusive to the Xbox series. If it does remain exclusive to Xbox, then Dark Sniper strongly urges Microsoft to wisely spend 50 million dollars on funding a classic franchise that needs to be rejuvinated for the greater good of gaming rather than using it for exclusive content for a stagnant Grand Theft Auto series.

completely agree with you my good man

Rikitatsu5656d ago

Shenmue is a game, not even Metal gear solid, Mario, Zelda, Half- life can surpass, its without a doubt, The best game I ever played, And I can't see any game coming close to its greatness except Shenmue III

So please, SEGA! Release Shenmue 3 Directed and Produced by Yu Suzuki.

TOO PAWNED5656d ago

Dark Sniper

You are full of it! You own 360, and i thought you were PS3 fanboy, booooooooooooooo

InMyOpinion5656d ago

Real gamers like myself played Shenmue I & II on the Dreamcast, where it's supposed to be played. ;)

DarkSniper5656d ago

Dark Sniper owns both Shenmue I and II on the Sega Dreamcast. The console itself is one of the greatest and saddest stories at the same time. However, being that Dark Sniper does not know the Japanese language, he also picked up the Xbox version with english dialogue. Even though Ryo Hazuki's character had a bad voiceover (Corey Marshall), it's one that fans grew to love and is very tolerable.

Either way, it doesnt matter what console this comes on. Be it PLAYSTATION®3, Xbox 360, or even Wii, as a hardcore Shenmue fan Dark Sniper just wants to see this game get finished.

Shenmue 2 turns 20 today

From Eurogamer: "Shenmue 2 is 20 years old today.

First released on Dreamcast on 6th September 2001 in Japan, it came to Europe a few months later on November 23rd - and was an Xbox exclusive in North America when it eventually arrived in October the following year."

Awsome game. I loved the HD collection

TheColbertinator987d ago

Good times and I'm glad we got 3. Sure it was not very good but I never thought I would live to see the day and that feels special.

autobotdan987d ago

Sega will try to make hundreds and hundreds of Yakuza games in the next 10 years. Because people keep buying them. I wish Sega would try a few Shenmue games. Shenmue could use the full budget that Yakuza and Judgement games get

slowgamer987d ago

I played yakuza 0 a year or so ago which was my first yakuza game and it was awesome and I played 6 but I really can't stomach all of them. There's so many. So I would also take more of Shenmue instead.

slowgamer987d ago

I liked the fact that that original shenmues especially the first was like more of an adventure game. Well, perhaps there were too many quicktime events.

BinaryMind987d ago (Edited 987d ago )

I have the opposite problem. I played Shenmue I & II a few years ago and found them surprisingly good and compelling. Then I played Yakuza 0 and was absolutely floored by it. Afterwards, I beat Yakuza 1-7 in little over a year and though I can safely say I have had my fill of Yakuza for now (and nothing reached the heights of 0), I could never go back to crusty old Shenmue in light of the improvements Yakuza made. Sorry Shenmue.

Popsicle987d ago

@binarymind. Yeah Shenmue was amazing and felt so fresh 20 years ago. I beat 1-2 on my Dreamcast and couldn’t wait for next game. When the next one came nearly 20 years later it was clear Shenmue needed a refresh and I was no longer interested. Not to mention due to the length of time between games the story of 1 and 2 are for the most part lost on me now. Nevertheless, the both games left a pretty big impression on me back in the day and were great for their time.

Popsicle987d ago (Edited 987d ago )

I can remember finishing Shenmue 2 in 2002 and being extremely excited for the next one. If asked back then I never would have expected that the series would still be incomplete in 2021.

How real-life martial arts influenced all three Shenmue games

After a surprise announcement at E3 2015 and a massively successful Kickstarter campaign, Shenmue III finally arrived last month and it…. didn’t exactly blow us away. Developer Ys Net has painstakingly recreated the goofy and stilted charm that defined the first two Shenmue games, but that charm sadly isn’t as easy to appreciate in 2019 as it was 20 years ago when the original Shenmue arrived

I thought the fighting techniques were real techniques way back when I was playing the original.

IamTylerDurden11608d ago (Edited 1608d ago )

Playing through the original on PS4 atm.

I'd really like to catch up on the series before playing the third.

I enjoy the classic martial arts aspect. It's cliche, but beautifully so!

My only criticism of the first game on PS4 is the classic controls are rather rough and movement has a bit of lag. However, I bought Shenmue I & II Collection on PS Store for $11.99 several days ago and it was still a steal. Very nostalgic and I'd have to assume that the visuals and controls will be significantly better in the third installment. I believe I will love the third.
