S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 reveal trailer wasn't actually in-game graphics

The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 reveal trailer looked amazing, but we didn't actually get to see what the game looks like — and the release date has been pushed back, too.

Wow, not only the game doesn't look like what they showed on the event, but just one day after the reveal they pushed back the release, basically they just put a bunch of things without dates (something that until not long ago was a cardinal sin according to MS and Xbox Fanboys, to show games years in advance) just to fill the presentation out

Showing games off too early, No Release Dates, Cross Gen, Keeping games away from other platforms etc

Its true this has been the worst 24 hours on top of a bad week for Microsoft and a lot of it is due to the things Phil and other xbox higher ups have said. You don't have to defend every misstep that happens. Yeah, I get it. Sony people troll for the sake of it but on occasion the criticism is very just. A lot of xbox guys feel the same. . . What @The Wood said, the difference is that Microsoft does everything they say it's convenient to them at the time and then disregard it to do whatever the F* they want later.

Same thing with exclusive games, just a couple of days ago exclusives were anti consumer according to Phil Spencer and following him, according to a large part of the Xbox Fanboy population, yesterday they showed first party next gen exclusives, EVERY fanboy saying "who understand you guys, first you say you want Microsoft to move forward, now they they do you just complaint!!", It's the double talk ALL the time, if Sony reveals games ahead of time, MS critics that, but then they do it themselves and it should be ok, because Sony does it, it's like what?.

Angelic is absolutely correct. There certainly seems to be a double standard. Just look at Dreams, which was annouced at the PS4 reveal event in Feb of 2013, only to be released in the year 2020. TLOU2 was announced around 5 years ago, GoT was anounced around 4 years ago, and if I would care to spend the time to build the case even further, it would show that Sony built the PS4 generation on promises, which took the entire generation to fullfill. They promised "greatness awaits" ..... and await PS4 owners did. Brand zombies will down vote no doubt.

In the grand scheme of things I much rather have then double speak or go back on what they say. It's weird because Phil did say no exclusives for the first year or two. Only to end up most of their games being made only made for Series. That's weird as hell. One thing you can't take away from the conference is that they finally got the AAA games. Look like in game broll but makes sense now since it was best Looking in game but all cgi like everything except halo ad like 5 current gene only games. Is like they didn't listen to the complaints from their last bad show not having gameplay. This event is literally a marketing disaster on Aaron Greenberg’s part. I get Phil’s “confidence” on games I guess. The show had excellent pacing of showing from indie to AA to AAA.

But Aaron hyped this up so much beyond what most marketing leads would. Especially after saying “we’ll learn” and “be better” after their last show was all CGI trailers.

Don't defend Phil, right after the Sony presentation (which DESTROYED Xbox One), he said that "after seeing it he felt good about what they had", people were hyping it as a "night of mic drops" the entire Internet was waiting after years of radio silence from Xbox, what they were saving, what they had in stores and they showed that.

So don't put it all on Aaron, people have to stop treating Phil as the saviour of Xbox, he's been at his job for 7 years.

I understand they acquired these devs not long ago and the games arent far along, but the avg customer doesnt. If you want to sell systems to new customers, then they need to know what these games are about. Gameplay.......that's all they needed. They have the games, so just show something, even if its 30 seconds. They really dont seem to understand how to market their products. I mean a lot of companies have the whole CG trailer problems, but MS has a big issue with it.

People tend to really overstate how much exclusives supposedly drive console sales.

The big big majority of exclusives dont gear near 10million sales. Compare that to how many PS5 have been sold? Just how many dozens of millions of people dont play any of the first party exclusives.

Just because they are a big factor to us doesnt really make then that big of an overall factor for console sales if you think about it

Exclusives aren’t the only driving force for many people. It’s ONE of the things that drives people to a console. If they are mostly multiplat gamers like COD or FIFA, if they ever did care enough they could pick up an exclusive down the road.

I'm pretty certain Phil doesn't have any actual games to show. They showed several games that were optimized for series x which mean it's 2+ years out and most of the other games we did see were mostly CGI trailers or running on high end PC's once again. That means they don't have anything to show that's coming soon except for a couple released first on game pass games. Good job Phil, you really highlighted the world's most powerful console that doesn't do anything worth purchasing.

Is anyone even surprised at this point? I mean the two companies approaches to showing games couldn't be any more different. Xbox show a combination CGI trailers and In engine cinematics and basically everything running on a PC to show "representative" footage.

PlayStation on the other hand come straight out and say captured on a PS5 and if you've seen a trailer on YouTube for a PlayStation game in usually says cinematic not actual gameplay because they are very transparent about that. Not every trailer does this of course and they didn't do it at their show but it's always very clear what's game play and what's cutscence and they definitely told us what was running on a PS5 which was everything.

MS had the chance to do this but declined because for some reason the most powerful console in the world a few months out from launch wasnt good enough to show off a bunch of current Gen looking games.

You know why Sony games Are transparent? Because ever since that 2005 Killzone 2 trailer, critics try to shit on Sony for showing a CGI trailer for the game and it didn’t help them at the launch of the PS3 perception wise. But then GG delivered with KZ2 and ever since, Sony has been showcasing real time in engine games ever since for the most part.

If people knew the real story about that they'd know Guerrilla made that trailer and it was never supposed to be passed off as gameplay. They did it as a target render and submitted it for the show.

Then some journalist asks a Sony rep who knew nothing about if it was gameplay and he foolishly said yeah sure why not. Rest is history.

It was a dumb mistake but it was never an attempt at deception. Not by Sony and definitely not by Guerrilla. . But yeah if transparency is the byproduct of that then that's a good thing.

MS needs to stop showing games running on PC. Have we even seen real XBsX verified gameplay yet? I mean the console is out in a matter of months. Show something running on it and stand by it.
