This game on PS5 would take me off the fence of waiting or buying this holiday

blitz06231403d ago (Edited 1403d ago )

It better be a free upgrade to PS5 for those who already have it

crazyCoconuts1403d ago

I'm not buying right now just to play it safe

Marquinho1403d ago

Free upgrade for this and TLOU2 please. That'd be awesome.

AKS1403d ago

When have they ever charged for a Pro update? It's almost certainly going to be a free update. There is a charge when it's a Bluepoint level reengineering of the game, which Got certainly wouldn't need.

StoneyYoshi1403d ago

It's backwards compatible with PS4.... Do people really still think the PS5 is not compatible with PS4 games? Especially 1st party games?

crazyCoconuts1403d ago

@stoney we're talking about it being enhanced for PS5, not just playing it in PS4 compatibility mode

ravinash1403d ago

I remember Last of Us remastered for PS4.
That wasn't free.
Guess it depends if they say its remastered or if they just turn up the graphics a bit.

Mithan1403d ago

It would be for sure. They wont get away with double dipping anymore.

Sony already confirmed both Ghosts and TLOU2 will run fine on PS5. No word of upgrades or a re-release yet though.

MADGameR1403d ago

They confirmed in an article on N4G (this site) that TLOU2 will be running smooth on the PS5, indicating that there will be 60FPS on TLOU2. THAT is confirmed.

moomoo3191403d ago

@MADGameR
Yeah def thats the article im talkin about. They never confirmed 60fps though :( not yet

Amplitude1402d ago (Edited 1402d ago )

It better be 60fps. The game isnt thaaaat impressive. Its beautiful and fun as heck but even on PS4 Pro i think they coulda pulled off a lower res/lower setting 60fps mode if they tried hard enough lol

The game in Quality mode runs at a almost-always rock solid 30fps. Then when you switch it to Performance mode it runs at a..... i guess an always rock solid 30fps. There's practically no difference lol youd be super dumb to play on Performance Mode. I was really disappointed at the lack of a 1080p/60 mode but its cool i got used to it. Game's baller

sampsonon1403d ago

Already playing it and would buy the ps5 version in a heartbeat.

Before GOT released Sony had issued instructions to developers that all PS4 games going forward had to be PS5 compatible.
https://www.eurogamer.net/a...

"However, as one of PlayStation 4's remaining flagship titles, it is certain to be supported on PlayStation 5 (and indeed, Eurogamer has separately heard this will be the case, alongside fellow upcoming exclusive The Last of Us 2)."

Looper1403d ago

Not what I'm asking. It's backwards compatible that's for sure but will there be a PS5 version and if so is the PS4 version going to automatically upgrade you to the PS5 version?

ApocalypseShadow1403d ago (Edited 1403d ago )

So Looper, companies should put more work into their titles, make an advanced version for PS5, then give it away.

Now, a company can do that if they wanted. But why. You bought the version for the system you currently have. It works. But now, you feel entitled to a better version for free. I don't think so.

Go ask Samsung or whomever you purchased your tv from or ask the manufacturer of your car, to give you the next upgraded tv or next year's car model for free. See what happens and what they'll say.

They'll laugh at you. But today's gamers expect free games, free versions, free extras and AAA games in cheap services. That isn't right. If it was my game, I'd say you bought the game for system we made the game for. And enjoy it.

Anyway, dual sense is going to be awesome. A true upgrade from current controllers.

Mr Logic1403d ago

@ApocalypseShadow

What a stupid answer. Both Samsung TVs and modern cars get software updated. You are acting like people want a PS5 for free.

What about someone like me? I did not buy Ghost and I am buying a PS5. It having a PS5 patch would make it a Day 1 buy, otherwise I'll be busy playing PS5 games and will get to Ghost someday...maybe.

morganfell1403d ago (Edited 1403d ago )

I think the smart thing to do would be offer the upgrade for free. That seems like it will be the case. However purchasing the PS5 version instead should give you the same game but also offer something in addition. Sort of an enticement.

Anyone not getting this game because " It having a PS5 patch would make it a Day 1 buy, otherwise I'll be busy playing PS5 games and will get to Ghost someday...maybe." is a bit absurd. That seems like the fox and the sour grapes. It is going to run on the PS5. That doesn't mean its required to be enhanced. I think that it will be because its a flagship title along with God of War, TLOU2 and possibly U4.

Looper1403d ago

Apocalypse Microsoft are doing it.
So are Ubisoft.
And CD Projekt Red.
And EA of all companies.
And Sega.
And Bandai Namco.
And Funcom.
And Paradox Interactive.
And Codemasters.
And Deep Silver.
And Bungie
And Avalanche Studios

But now that we are expecting it from your precious Sony then suddenly it's like asking for a new TV from Samsung?? What??!!

Mr Logic1403d ago

@morganfell

If you're going to quote me at least engage in the conversation. I'm not sour grapes about anything. I literally do not own a PS4. I also don't think Sony "owes me" a PS5 update. BUT when I go to pick up my PS5 I will only be getting a handful of titles. Ghost being one of those is contingent on it offering something that takes advantage of the $500+ system I just got. Otherwise I'll get it on deep discount during a dry spell. Why is this so hard to understand?

morganfell1403d ago (Edited 1403d ago )

What is hard to understand, at least for some people, if GOT only on the PS5 as it does on the PS4 it is a gaming experience that will still outshine more than half of the launch titles. The measure of a game isn't in its resolution or its framerate. Those things are nice to have and I am absolutely looking forward to features like new audio and massive detailed worlds. But this game is pretty much next gen already. It is for many of us GOTG. Its worth picking up period. Based on comments from Sucker Punch that just came out I would say the chance of a PS5 upgrade are about 200%.

And I did engage you... in the same manner you jumped into the conversation and called someone's answer stupid. I am all for being civil and prefer it that way but you get the respect you offer.

ApocalypseShadow1403d ago (Edited 1403d ago )

Basically, because some companies are doing it, everyone should do it is your gist. Even small companies, Indies with less money than the big companies, should give their upgraded versions for free. Nope. You're entitled.

Now, I'll take it if they give it to me. But I'm not going to expect better versions that take more time, more manpower and more money to be given for free.

As I said, entitled gamers expect everything handed to them. If Sony makes a super duper PS5 version that takes 100 million to make like a GTA game, don't always expect you're going to get it for free.

Sure. Better textures. Better frame rate. Higher resolution. Great. But a whole new version? No.

Like I said above, no other company gives away their next version of products for free. Not phones, not cars, not TVs, not refrigerators, etc just because you bought the latest one. But entitled gamers are expecting it in the game industry. Spoiled gamers wanting everything free. I guess that's what the recession has done to current kids. And those kids expect free and don't want to pay for anything. And I didn't say a free PS5. Put on your glasses. We are talking games. A game you didn't even BUY. But are worried about Sony being like Microsoft who has to give away their games in cheap services. Now you want Sony giving theirs away either with an upgrade or a cheap service. Think again.

spartan112g1403d ago

When games release on PC, they release with countless performance variations and those have never increased the price. Next gen upgrades should be free, full stop. There is no argument that will change my mind. You call us entitled? I’ll take that. We’re the ones giving them money, thus a level of entitlement is expected. I don’t get this false notion that we’re supposed to give them money with no expectations. People would have called the Battlefront 2 backlash entitlement, or the push to cross platform play. I say that there is, in fact, a healthy level to this entitlement that keeps the games industry in check and from adding pay-2-win in everything. Hell, if it was up to them, singleplayer games would be dead. They tried to kill them multiple times.

TKCMuzzer1403d ago

Pretty sure there will not be a PS5 version released on disc etc, any enhancements will be via a patch for those who already own the game.

RevXM1403d ago

I hope that is the case. The game just came out and Im assuming the game can be patched or set up to know when its running on ps5 and have a PS5 mode.

Im no dev or engineer, but I dont think PS5 mode in a patch or some sort of advanced system level boost mode for ps4 games is too far fetched in order to achieve virtually the same thing as what a typical remastered version would be.

StoneyYoshi1403d ago

They have already stated that games like TLOU2 will be able to utilize their boost mode for PS4 games. Pretty sure GOT was in that information too.

CrimsonWing691403d ago

if this is going to be a thing I wish they'd let people know in advanced. I mean, should I start waiting for PS5 versions of the games coming out now?

Silly gameAr1403d ago

Seems like that would be more of your decision, sir. Do you want to wait to play on PS5, or do you want to play on PS4? Pretty sure you'll be able to play the later games released on the PS4 on the PS5, also.

CrimsonWing691403d ago

Right, that's what I meant that I'd rather play these games on PS5. I do want to play the games but if there's a possibility that they're coming on PS5 I'd rather wait till those release. I think if there's plans they should at least announce it so people can make a better decision on whether to buy now or wait.

BrettAwesome1403d ago

I think you should! I'm not playing ghost or tlou2 till the PS5 is out

Mr Logic1403d ago

They would never do that. It would only hurt current software sales.

Evolve1403d ago

They're the ones who took full advantage of the DualShock 4 in Infamous: Second Son. Pretty sure they'll do an amazing job with the DualSense. Can't wait.

Yi-Long1403d ago

Very much looking forward to playing this game, but I'm holding out for PS5 to arrive before I do. I want to experience this (and some other games) in the best way possible.

phoenixwing1403d ago

I couldn't wait and to be honest ghost of tsushima is one of the better games i've played all gen. to me that 80 something score is underrated it's easily a 9 or higher

boing11403d ago (Edited 1403d ago )

I concur. It's easily a 9 in my book too. There is something captivating in the whole experience. You don't get that from watching videos. And combat is super solid and fun. I'm playing this with 3D audio on Platinum headset and it is just wow!!

garos821403d ago

it has a couple of issues but it is in no way shape or form a 6/10 or 7/10.
really enjoying it so far and im still on the first island
