Will Far Cry 6 Break The Franchise's Cycle Of Repetitive Gameplay?

Far Cry hasn't been done any favors by its adherence to open world gameplay fundamentals, or the many other open world hits of recent years.

Maybe it's wrong to say it...but the reason I like the FC games is because of its "cycle of repetitive gameplay."

There can be narrative and pacing improvements, that's for sure, but I like the gameplay cycle for what it is.

To many times.in far cry 5 I couldn't start a mission at hurk seniors place because of nearby cultists drawing fire

Yeah just started playing it this week. There's hardly an hour goes by while you're trying to talk to an NPC and a Wolf/Cougar/Bear comes out of nowhere to eat their face. Does start to grate. I think they went a little to OTT with the open world random events, you never go too far without an enemy or animal attacking you.

I just finished Far Cry 5 today after finally buying it earlier this week. And I must say that has happened to me so many times! Mostly a wolf or a wolverine would pounce out of nowhere 😂

the far cry games start off pretty good but mid way it ends up dragging on too much TBH i dont have the time these days to sit down with long haul open world games farcry 3 and 4 did about 10h each them finished the games quickly with trainer activated

I really hope it does after Vaas died so did the series for me. Second half of 3 was boring and 4 and 5 were too.

I’m hoping for the return of the gameplay from 2, the story of Vaas from 3 and a little of the suspense and surprise from 1. Is that too much to ask for...?

I liked Far Cry 3 but 4 & 5 were boring to me. The whole story idea of Far Cry 5 was weird and contained elements that were just annoying (e.g bliss).

I have the 100% and it is ok. There are parts that I liked but if you aren't into the Ubi game play, uncovering the map, locations for the sake of location count, you might not like it. If it is under $15, I'd say give it a shot.

Most of all I wanna see enemy AI improvements, not oh I silently shot this enemy with an arrow, friend finds his body and all start homing in on my position.

But it being ubisoft and a cross-gen title, I'm not holding my breath.

It's Ubisoft and it's FarCry I very much doubt it. You are still going to have to climb towers in each area.

EVERY game is repetitive. That’s part of the charm with sequels. You have a pretty good idea what to expect when you start playing, then learn the tweaked mechanics.

I would guess it wont change much. Just some refinements here and there. It should be cool tho to have and actual city with buildings and be able to explore all the floors in them. Like the vertical gameplay looks like it may be good. Like itll have its jungles/forest areas, but if the city areas are like a GTA FPS style and it feels lived in, that should be interesting. With the city setting, I have a feeling it may return to turning on towers here and there. Regardless, I'm excited, but we need to see more.

I beat 3 years ago but I started to bore from it even though I enjoyed, it was just too long or too much I'm not sure. Last week I put 12 hours into fc2 and same thing I enjoy getting the baddies but it was just boring same old thing. Maybe I need more time between sessions, but then I don't come back for 2 years. Went ahead and got fc4 today though

RAGE 2 was open world and the gameplay mechanics of RAGE 2 was way better than any FAR CRY game . I played every mission of FAR CRY 3 ,BLOOD DRAGON and FAR CRY 4 and loved it ! But unless they improve the gameplay mechanics, i will probably never buy a another FAR CRY game again.
