Starting to think that this really is the current gen Mass Effect we never got. Definitely interested now, might just pick this up.

DerfDerf1408d ago

People must have a skewed vision of Mass Effect because Andromeda is exactly like the other 3 Mass Effects. Feels exactly like them. Plays exactly like them.

anonymousfan1408d ago

I never played it myself, I thought aside from the numerous bugs at release the story seemed to be a letdown. How did you like the story vs ME1-3? Maybe I should give it a shot.

DerfDerf1408d ago

I really enjoyed the game as a whole. It suffers from a lot of the same issues the other ME games have. The story wasn't bad but there are a few loose ends that never really get tied up. If you like the ME trilogy there is no reason why you shouldn't like Andromeda.

anonymousfan1408d ago

Thanks for the advice on Andromeda. I did love ME1-3 but 99% of that was characters and epic tory.

Razmiran1408d ago (Edited 1408d ago )

I didnt really like the game, but its true, you cant say it doesnt feel like mass effect
Id say its much less "epic" but you can get it so cheap these days that you should try for yourself

Rebel_Scum1408d ago

The gameplay was great but the story, characters and dialogue content was so weak. I could only finish that game by skipping all of the cut scenes & dialogue.

Daeloki1408d ago

I never played Mass Effect 1-3, so can't compare to those, but in my opinion Andromeda was a huge letdown and a waste of money. The game felt like a long drawn out chore, and I honestly can't even remember what the plot was about.

execution171408d ago

Story wise its pretty forgettable and same goes for the story but its saving grace was it probably had the best combat out of the 4 games

Profchaos1408d ago

It was merely an ok game but the story and twist was lackluster. I think the idea of emptying the universe was a missed opportunity and only introducing one alien species was a fail.

Christopher1407d ago (Edited 1407d ago )

It's the writing behind the characters in Andromeda that completely do a 180, though. ME 1-3 were about people trying to save the world, deal with their troubled past of death, loss, betrayal, past decisions, etc. Andromeda was dealing with things that didn't seem important or relevant and oftentimes felt really unnecessary to the main storyline or important to what they were doing.

Flewid6381407d ago

Thats also the problem. They made the game with a 2011 game engine.

Razmiran1407d ago

2011 engine? They used Frostbite 3 which debuted with BF4 in 2013 , same as Battlefield V, Dragon Age inquisition and the latest need for speed games
While it is not an ideal engine its not due to its age

I'm not judging the game, I don't know enough to comment on it's quality or "fun'ness" .

But that said any time people try to say a game is "like" some other popular game I get nervous.

I'm sure Outriders will be the Dark Souls of Mass Effect and FTL and Resident Evil and Final Fantasy....

But I'm going to stay optimistic, I'm always interested in new IP's.

Luc201408d ago

Defo one to watch for next gen systems. Those broadcasts got me interested.

MadLad1408d ago

Yeah, this is starting to look really good.

The 7 Best Co-op Games on PS5

There's no better way to enjoy your PS5 than with friends, so here's our picks of the best co-op games on the console.

Cacabunga122d ago

For coop, get a used switch instead

jznrpg122d ago

I own a Switch and have never played co-op on it. I do play Elden Ring , Demons Souls and some other co/op games with my friends on PS5. Baldurs Gate 3 is the next game I’ll play co-op. Can’t do that on a Switch

Cacabunga122d ago

I was thinking for couch casual immediate fun.. not online coop games that require some adaptation.

played it..de-installed it after 30 minutes.

Lighter9693d ago

I got pretty far, and just stopped caring. I uninstalled it as well.

Profchaos693d ago

It's extremely generic. It's not bad but it reminds me of the period between 2007 and 2009 where gears introduced cover shooters so almost everyone went out and made a unreal engine 3 cover shooter.
It feels like that to destiny

IanTH693d ago (Edited 693d ago )

For some it is. At launch, I expect more people felt that way. It also had tons of technical issues back then, at least on PC. I tried it after the New Horizons expansion later last year. I found the campaign enjoyable enough, even if not an amazing one. The gameplay was pretty fun, the story was pretty pants (but how many games can say otherwise lol). Still had some bugs even then, though.

I've no idea what is in the newest expansion, but if it ever piqued your interest, I'd suggest giving it a shot. It might give you 20-30 hours of fun before it fizzles out. Maybe I'll look into this expansion, see what's what.

MadLad693d ago (Edited 693d ago )

I'm having fun with it.
Originally avoided it having heard of the issues around launch.
It has been sitting on Gamepass so finally downloading it the other day.
I'm about 3 hours in, have my Trickster class at level ten, and it's a pretty good time.

Don't know if I'll end up beating it or not, but I'd give it a solid 8 so far, personally.

Livingthedream693d ago

Nah it’s fun, first 30 minutes ain’t enough. Give it a go!

Terry_B693d ago

Bad...nah. Its simply super boring

I played through the entire campaign. It was very generic. The story was mediocre and the technical issues on PC were pretty bad. They patched it up quite a bit. It plays better now. I can say the only reason why I enjoyed it was because I missed Division 2-type gameplay but was was tired of running around the same areas in New York. The endgame is just an enemy hitpoint multiplier where a tiny creature has 20,000 HP. It's too bullet-spongy.
