GameXtract writes "Home recently expanded adding in an additional 100,000 gamers across world. Although still in its closed beta phase, Home is gearing up to soon be released in a public beta phase in which hopefully anyone will have access to. We have come across a 20 minute Home walk-through that shows off all the new spaces within Home. First time i played bowling i got ownt by some guy who got 5 strikes in a row.

Chess is very competitive at the second floor of the mall. The mini arcade games are fun. Pool is well done and simplified which was hard to believe. But your Home avatar doesnt move with the stick maybe on later updates.

They only have a 5 minute video of Socom in the theater and people are yelling "down in front" most of the time. Also, a funny clown ugly fat guy or chick will give you a dance if you're sitting sometimes.

Home really is amazing.

Sony has been working on it since the early PS2 days. The scope of Home is amazing in its scale.

From what I've read and my roommate has described about Home:

* Your Trophy Level will reward you with larger/better personal spaces, items, and stuff for your avatar. This is something Microsoft really screwed up when they copied Insomniac's Skill Points for their online service. Skill Points reward the player with skins, cheat codes, and other things. Microsoft didn't full understand what they were copying and just made the number of Skill Points(aka Acheivments) go to some pointless gamerscore number.

* Home Spaces are very easy to make as has been demoed with the Uncharted, Warhawk, Far Cry 2 spaces. EA has said they are working on an entire sport pavilion for their PS3 games. It sounds like every game company is going to be setting up spaces for their company's and games inside of Home

* Doing things inside of games will reward you with items for your avatar and personal space. So people will be running around with avatars decked out in stuff from the games they have beat or have cool stuff from the games they'ved played in their spaces

It sounds like Home is going to be absolutely enormous a few years from now. Very much like we are just seeing the early days of the World Wide Web with just a few pages to browse. But with Home the web pages are the Home Spaces that you make inside of a 3D art package.

So far the best part about Home is how even if you are not a very social gamer you have to essentially force yourself to not make huge numbers of friends. When you see someone walking around in Home they have which game they are setup to play so people will join them. So you end up meeting up with people and hanging out and chatting, playing some bowling or pool while you wait for others. It's all very personal and human. You really get a sense of the various people's personalities from their avatars and interacting with them. There is so much more information than just an icon and text messages.

You know for a while I stopped caring about home and simply moved back into playing games as any gamer would. Though after watching this video I must say that it geared me up and hopefully (if the rumor or statement [?] holds true) then I can't wait for the open beta by the end of the year or in the weeks to come. From what I've witnessed it seems to be great and wonder what else sony will throw in to the mix at the cost of 0 dollars and 0 cents :).

Was watching my roommate inside the Home beta this week.

It is amazing.

It is the gold standard for online console gaming.

If you are in clans, Home works like this for you:

1. You create a clubhouse for your clan that acts like your personal Home Space. Everyone in the clan can come and go to the club house whenever they want and leave messages for each other. And later one you will be able to put screenshots and videos from you clan matches or your clan artwork up on the walls and all over the place. There will be premium clubhouses too that will be the giant and gorgeous Spaces if you want for your clan.

2. You leader will create a game and everyone gathering around in the clubhouse joins. You jump right into the online game with your clan/party and when people are done they pop right back into the clan's Home Space where everyone can hang out together

You actually don't need to be in a clan. Anyone can create a basic clubhouse and invite people to it and then go off and play multiplayer games all together right from the clubhouse and then return when you are done with the people you joined up with.

More games will need to be patched to work with Home but they say that it will be coming soon.

what is so amazing about home anyway? From the video it sure looks dull. Just looks like a real poor sim game with ads and movie trailers. You can customize youre house o neat. So please what is so swell about all this home. At least its free.

1. you can use all 3 accounts (NA, europe and japan) to visit and play around with. each one looks and feels different.

2. it's free

3. it's a social networking tool to make friends and build a clan. it has games too like bowling, billiards, arcade like echocrome. as time goes by this area is going to get better.

4. you can go to malls and later on buy different stuff like for fashion and upgrading your club house.

5. see what's new like upcoming games, movies and everything ps3. you get the first scoop.

6. chat free with your friends.

7. customize your look to almost your look alike or be someone else.

8. experience beautiful landscape and other architectural masterpieces.

9. build a clan or group then play your favorite online game straight from your clubhouse or anywhere in home.

10. watch a movie on home's own movie house pretty cool stuff.

it may look a little boring right now because it is the beta. they are just trying to iron out the kinks and make sure it's going to be a stable and enjoyable place for psn members. so rest assured this is going to be an awesome experience.

the ability to socialize and to play with gamers within the community. It connects your games to this service in Unique ways. It serves as Hub for the PSN. It can allow you to virtually be in a big Media Event, such as E3 and watch a live stream of a Particular Sony Conference. Not to mention 3rd Party companies can do the same thing at Home (example, UBISOFT experimented with Home with the UBIDAYS event earlier this year. We were able to see what games were in the event, not to mention learn about these new games UBISOFT were offering).

All in all, Home can be anything you want it to be. Home could potentially also Enhance the PSN system within the PS3 by adding new things that were not available prior to Home's Release.

BTW, The Trophy System could reward you in Home by receiving New Apartments, new clothes, new items, or possibly a new game. this is all part of Home's plan.

....don't get too hyped. Home is extremely basic and needs alot of work doing still. You will see when you get in Home. Lets just hope Sony have some major updates for Home when the open beta roles out because alot of people will be really annoyed if theres not tones of new spaces and things to do. People like myself who have been testing Home for 3-4 months now were seriously disappointed with the v1.0 update. In a number of ways version 0.98 was better and more fun.

Lets hope Sony deliver on what they promissed. Its been long overdue.

The problem you have with HOME is that you think this is a game but as you just said, the purpose of HOME is:

"As a social tool, its fantastic, you will meet some great people on it, and just spend most of your time just chatting to people and dancing."

Home is not a game that gets updated everyday for you to enter and simply play like if it were a game like Little Big Planet or Sims. You're going to enter and use HOME because of the functionality it provides. {read the @Rigmaster comment}

-Like: watch videos/trailers with your friends, coordinate online games utilizing Home as a HUB, play games that never get old like chess, billiards, etc., meet new people to play online... And not only that, Sony said that they are planing in making special rooms for events like E3 for us to visit through HOME.

Home is a fantastic idea from any way you see it.

and I must say, it's pretty cool.

Creating your own character, making them look almost like you.(The hairstyles are lacking :S I did find my own style though! :D)

The graphics are really nice, the spaces are large, and the people there are really friendly.

Some of the areas are pretty cool, the mall is empty (for now) the theater is just sweet. Watching commentaries about video games, dev videos Ect.

The arcade with the bowling alley is really fun.

and your home space is really cool.

I found myself staring out into the scenery because I loved how it looked.

I was among the lucky person who got invited into HOME BETA. The only thing that makes it boring right now is not a lot of advertisement and shops to go to because its still in BETA MODE. But i tell you guys this will be huge especially if you have a lot of friends in your list just like me (100 in my 2 accounts). It's really fun to hang out and discuss games with people you know. Playing bowling is hella fun...i won twice already.

Now my suggestion for SONY is to add places that we all can participate in HOME.

1. Amusement Park (Roller Coaster, Ferris Wheel, Go-Kart)
2. Ski Resort (Ride in a Gondola to go to the top of the mountain and ski with your fellow friends. Once you reach the bottom you can hang out in a Log House or shop)
3. Join a contest just like NINJA WARRIOR or TAKESHI's CASTLE where 100 participant will compete for a bragging rights or prizes.
4. Outdoor games like basketball, tennis or baseball.

If they can implement those stuff....HOME will be the place that you want to go all the thime before playing your games.

I got into the beta this week and really there's not a lot to do at the moment (however I find myself in there a lot). I'm sure once they have completed the current load tests the content will significantly increase.

Once it is opened to the public and Home is heavily populated, the advertising and third party content will not be far behind. The oportunity to market to such specific demographics and for developers to reach their fanbase will not go overlooked. Thats when Home's real potential will be realized. I doubt there will be a single developer that will not utilize Home in some way.

What really suprised me though, is how well it works as a social network. I have already met several other gamers that are now on my friends list.

home is actually a lot smaller than i thought itd be.

but nonetheless its still pretty impressive. ive never been on the home bandwagon, but i can definitely see how this could shape up to be a very impressive and useful application. on top of that, i think that the space that sony is reserving for advertisements is borderline ingenious, hopefully it will work out a lot better than their current marketing tactics. lol.
