Nindie Spotlight: Baldo | VGChartz Preview

VGChartz's Stephen LaGioia: "When it comes to indie gaming romps, most don't tend to think of lavish, sprawling RPGs. Yet, this is precisely the type of game Italian studio Naps Team seems to be crafting, with their upcoming adventure, Baldo. Despite the low-key reveal at Nintendo's Indie World Showcase last year, this game may just be one of the richest and most epic RPGs to hit the Switch."

all i know is baldo better not get delayed. studio ghibli art direction rpg games are hard to wait on

Jackhass1045d ago

Considering how long its been in development, I'm guessing they're pretty sure of the release date...hopefully.

isarai1045d ago

I dunno, i just expect every game to get delayed these days given the pandemic and other world issues going on at the moment.

So many games, with a few I really am looking forward to!

sourOG1044d ago

I heard that real-time trailers app bullshit is available for download. Does anyone know where it is?

Viking_mo1044d ago

Apparently its on the PS5 somewhere. But it'll be on YouTube too

sourOG1044d ago

That’s what I heard but I can’t find it on the app. Yeah that’s true, that app will probably be overloaded and worthless anyways.

BioShockGX1044d ago

Search abandoned on the store then click the 3 dots and you'll see abandoned real time.

"The Ghost is coming for us."

Good spirits awaits.

Preordered on ps5. I can't wait to play through again with the enhancements and the dlc

brewin1044d ago (Edited 1044d ago )

Really want to check out the Iki Island expansion to Ghost of Tsushima, but ill wait as I dont like the politics around charging more for early adopters, regardless of their excuses. I bought that shit digi day one, they shouldnt be charging me any more than an additional $10 to upgrade and create parity with new purchasers of the PS5 version. Gouge your early fans who made the game popular by charging us $30 to upgrade?! FFFFFFUUUUU Sony! Im sure itll be on sale in a matter of weeks. Can probably get the full PS5 disc version for $20 on Black Friday. Id rather support the indie devs who need the $$$! That Baldo game looks incredible, probably a day 1 buy for me.

SeTTriP1044d ago (Edited 1044d ago )

So you want a full expansion for $10? lmfao

brewin1044d ago (Edited 1044d ago )

Sony knows who the day 1 digital purchasers are. Since they're charging $70 for the DC, yeah ur fkin right Id like that upgrade for $10. Sonys getting greedy again like they did with ps3. That shit isn't gonna fly with alot of people who have been longtime PS supporters. I refuse to pay $70 for games so ill be dammed if Im going to $90, simple as that. So I'll just wait till it's cheap.

I've been a day 1 ps gamer since the ps1! But I'm not brainwashed and Sony's not the only game in town. As it is now, there's not much on the Horizon with Horizon getting delayed. Iki island is something I'm looking forward to, but not for a $30 upgrade fee. Usually expansion passes with 2-3 expansions are $30. I'm not paying that for 1 no fkn way. I'm happy with my loaded Gamepass sub anyway so Ill just wait till I can get the ps5 disc for cheap on black Friday.

GhostofHorizon1044d ago

I'm having a hard time understanding exactly where you're coming from.

$30 is for the expansion and an upgrade to PS5.

I wouldn't be surprised if the base game goes down to $40 when Director's Cut releases. The game you paid $60 last year is not worth that much today, it's what I call an early adopter tax.

Games go on sale all the time, there is no good reason to pay full price unless you just have to play it exactly when it comes out.

brewin1044d ago

When the game came out the base version was 60 and the special edition was 70. there was never any announcement of any expansion, the $70 version only had costumes and I think a weapon or something. Clearly it was not worth the extra $10 to me. Now those people who paid for the special edition are getting the Iki island expansion totally free and then they just have to spend $10 upgrade to the PS5 version. I think the upgrade fee in general is stupid. They're still going to make sales off the new ps5 copies, so why do they have to gouge the early adopters extra money?

Had I known there was going to be an expansion I would have dropped the extra 10 at the time I purchased it. There are so many other examples of PS4 games getting free upgrades to PS5. Many of them are first party or exclusive games as well. FF7, Nioh 2, Miles Morales, Sackboy. There's just no consistency and that's what I don't like. Why are some games getting free upgrades and others aren't? it feels anti-consumer and if this was Microsoft doing this most of you would be jumping all over them.

SeTTriP1043d ago

The upgrade fee is ridiculous, but the expansion is still worth more then $10.

It should've been $20 across the board and the ps5 upgrade should be free.

GhostofHorizon1043d ago (Edited 1043d ago )

They already released a free PS5 patch that makes the game run better on PS5 which is what other devs have also done as you have stated.

This is a whole different thing and you can judge for yourself if it is worth it. Nothing stops you from playing the PS4 version of Director's Cut on PS5 if you're not willing to pay the extra $10 for duelsense support and all the other additional stuff you get.

Pretty excited for this one, I'm digging the artstyle.
Here's hoping the battle system is any good.

OmarBanat1541d ago

Absolutely agree. I hope the next trailer we see goes in-depth on the battle system since what we've seen so far looks pretty basic.

Jeronemo1541d ago

Agreed. Let's hope it's got more depth than just hack 'n slash. Same goes for the puzzles... I can't remember the name of the game. It was such a promising game, but it turned out pretty aweful as the puzzles were just variations of "push this blok over there" and "hit that switch".
