FIFA 21 Legacy Edition (Switch) Review - IGN

If last year’s release was borderline insulting, this year’s is just plain disgraceful.

Palitera1311d ago (Edited 1311d ago )

1. Nintendo allowed it. EA isn't alone on this.
2. Would Nintendo allow the scam if it was made by a smaller developer?

septemberindecember1311d ago (Edited 1311d ago )

@Palitera

Okay, so Sony and MS were also to blame for that Battlefront 2 fiasco?

Ron_Danger1311d ago

Did you just defend EA for this and try to put blame on Nintendo??

Palitera1310d ago

Where exactly did I defend EA? smh

Eamon1311d ago

EA is not a smaller developer lol

Nintendo allowed it for royalty payments, of course. It's not their decision what's in the game. EA is 100% responsible for what they develop and publish.

Palitera1311d ago

"EA is 100% responsible for what they develop and publish."
Absolutely.
And Nintendo is 100% responsible for allowing this scam to be released there.

Eamon1311d ago

Yeh I suppose you can say Nintendo is responsible for allowing it. But I don't see Nintendo as being part of the "scam." They simply give license to use their console platform for publishing games.

So I suppose you're right to say that Nintendo is consenting to allow the scam to occur.

But the tone of your original post kinda implied Nintendo was the main culprit lol

Palitera1310d ago (Edited 1310d ago )

Yeah, Nintendo, MS and Sony actively approves any content on their platforms. Nintendo knew what they were doing. Even Steam once denied a release from a partner of mine for not having enough new content to justify another release.

EA being the main culprit of some big s*** is nothing new. I just expected a little more from the platform holder.

Profchaos1311d ago

Would be Nintendo allow it from a smaller dev absolutely did you see the shovelware on the wii

Sgt_Slaughter1311d ago

I think you might need a job at the White House because my goodness that was a spectacular spin job

Palitera1310d ago

Or you might find some good folks to follow there, with all your brilliant cognitive skills.
There's no spin here. Only two very guilty companies of an intentional scam.

Not because the game is bad, but because it's a rooster updates for older games sold as a new game.

WTF is EA thinking? They can't do no effort and re-release old games and try to charge full price! Nintendo themselves have tried this low effort repackaging of old games with close to no effort with the Mario 3D all stars collection and IGN gave them a score of....wait...no score?? The F?? Is IGN afraid of Nintendo or something?

mafiahajeri1311d ago

No wonder these pricks didnt release a demo, my last Fifa was 16 I moved to PES and never looked back.

potatoseal1311d ago

Damn son. That mid-gen upgrade for the Switch can't come soon enough.

RaidenBlack1311d ago

EA's re-releasing FIFA 19 as FIFA 21, that too publicly admitting and charging 50 bones.
Nothing to do with the existing hardware.

RaidenBlack1311d ago

No problem, mate. Cheers!

RosweeSon1311d ago

Wouldn’t be so bad if they did it for barely half price but nah greedy robbing 🤬😏😂

RosweeSon1311d ago

Because a lazy dev tried to fob off their customers? Hardly, other devs have utilised the switch so why couldn’t the multi billion $ EA? Were the 60+ million switch owners not enough incentive to do a few exclusive modes geared towards handheld modes or something other than copying and pasting for a 2nd year in a row. Nintendo don’t need a new console revision (it’s getting replaced within a couple years/next gen models) it’s the 2nd best selling console of the current batch it’s games, the good ones clear 10-15 million. EA just lazing porting when they could have done something special with switch but nah. Their loss.

ocelot071311d ago

They should do what Konami have done this year. Simply charge £20 for a update roster.

RaidenBlack1311d ago

Exactly. Pretty good deal for the fans.

spicelicka1311d ago

Yeah that sounds fair. You don't see games like Mortal Kombat release every year with some added characters, it's all done through DLC.

Gamerking821311d ago (Edited 1311d ago )

Thats what all companys should do for every yearly sports games. As they all the exact same but with updated teams.

RaidenBlack1311d ago

Maybe they can do biannual release?
1st year the base game, 2nd year the update. Then repeat.

RedDevils1311d ago

PES is better than Fifa all the way.

RosweeSon1311d ago

They should be free to play at this point but yeah that wouldn’t have been as bad (pro £20 upgrade job) really it should Just be a free title update on switch tho if they aren’t even going to do anything different.
What makes me laugh is devs go oh but our games don’t sell on switch... can’t think why legacy edition 2.0 😑🖕🏻 28514;
They should have just saved themselves the editing of the box and just keep pumping out fifa 19 on switch saves the typing legacy edition, it’s hard work when your making billions to make any effort with your multiple development teams 😑😑😂

Gamerking821311d ago

HAHA nice Eat that EA you low life greedy Fu@*s.

badz1491311d ago

Have you you seen the glorious effort made by Nintendo in the recent Mario collection? So...Nintendo can do it but other can't? This practice ny EA and Nintendo is like a perfect match made in hell!

XbladeTeddy1311d ago

3D All-Stars is in no way the same as what EA is doing with FIFA. Nintendo is just selling 3 of their games in a collection that work on Switch, how is that remotely the same as what EA is doing with FIFA?
