Reveal the upcoming games from The Initiative and Playground and show some Halo Infinite gameplay.

That'll do it.

xboxcult1432d ago (Edited 1432d ago )

I agree. At the very least that's what they need to do. They need to go all out though. A mass amount of Game announcements and hype galore if they want to bring it to Sony . And no blurry webcams lol.

chrisx1432d ago (Edited 1432d ago )

They need to show gameplay and more gameplays. It can't be stressed enough just how important that is.

RazzerRedux1432d ago

"And no blurry webcams lol."

And no fatass Greenberg. lol

Bruh1432d ago

@chrisx
Wait I don't get the expectation, Sony barely showed any gameplay yesterday. Yet Microsoft is expected to show a lot of gameplay to match them? lmao wheres the logic there

Sunny_D1432d ago

@bruh

MS has been lacking gameplay for the past 7 years. They are last place for a reason. They want to make an impact on consumers? Then they need to go all out. It’s been known Sony will deliver games just like TLOU2 and GOT this year. It’s always been wishy washy with MS.

remixx1161432d ago

@bruh

Bro there was plenty of gameplay shown, what event were you watching??

I saw kena gameplay, ratchet gameplay, gt7 gameplay, and many others. I'm confused...

Darkborn1432d ago (Edited 1432d ago )

Sony already said this was like half the games their showing off before the PS5 release. So even if they throw all the stops, in August, Sony is gonna have another conference and probably reveal God of War, and that multi-player shooter and a couple other games they are holding onto.

bouzebbal1432d ago (Edited 1432d ago )

No halo gears Forza, show they have other things than these boring franchises that have been milked like crazy..

Now the problem is, they said there will be only cross gen titles in the first 2years, so I won't have expectations high

hamburgerhill1432d ago

There's nothing wrong with Halo, Forza or Gears, but they need to show a bigger variety of games.

derek1432d ago

Xbox cult? Bring it to Sony? Sony has never prevented Microsoft from doing anything, this isn't even a battle between them if you listen to good guy Phil. No Microsoft sucks at producing great games because they simply don't care to invest the time or money to do so. The smart money is that the July event will continue Xboxs slide into irrelevance.

sampsonon1432d ago

@Sunny_D: And Spider-Man 2. Three heavy hitters in 7 months.

"That'll do it."

That´s the easy part. I want to see how well current gen games like Forza 8 fares against GT7 and Playground´s RPG vs Horizon: Forbidden West.

RazzerRedux1432d ago

I get comparing racers, but I think open world RPGs can usually stand on their own. Wither 3, Skyrim, HZD, etc. They don't need to be compared to each other to be great.

I'm expecting an awesome RPG from PG simply because they are great developers.

i3eyond the Circle1432d ago

I think current gen Forza 8 might outperform GT7 even being cross gen. Turn 10 actually does good work and pushed the genre forward the past few installments.

Sunny_D1432d ago (Edited 1432d ago )

GT7 isn’t going to be out for a while where as we assume Forza 8 will be out this year. So wouldn’t make sense if GT8 is nowhere near completion.

CaptainHenry9161432d ago

Has Playground ever made a RPG? Horizon is one of the best games this generation

crazyCoconuts1432d ago

I've gotta think just a quick visual comparison between Forza and GT is gonna get harder and harder as these games look more and more photo realistic. Assuming they're both beautiful, I wonder if they'll both be available at launch...

RazzerRedux1432d ago

@CaptainHenry916

"Has Playground ever made a RPG? Horizon is one of the best games this generation"

Had GG ever made a RPG before Horizon? Or an open world game? Don't think so. I think great devs aren't tied to a genre or a style. Great devs, like Playground, just make great games.

Sol4ris1432d ago (Edited 1432d ago )

@Obscure

"That´s the easy part. I want to see how well current gen games like Forza 8 fares against GT7"

If the footage Sony showed from GT7 is anything to go by, then MS has nothing to fear.
GT7 barley looked better than GTSport on PS4pro, and pop in on the PS5? Polyphony better up their game, because next to Ratchet & Clank (which looked awesome) it appears decidedly current gen.

1432d ago
chiefJohn1171432d ago (Edited 1432d ago )

What are you comparing? Graphics? Everyone can tell you a racer is something you gotta feel and play to compare more than anything. And an RPG is hard to compare visually since what's make a rpg good is it's story, combat, and world. Graphics is just icing on the cake nothing more. I'm with Razzer on this one.

JesusBuiltmyHotrod1432d ago

LOL good luck Playground you will need it.

JohnDoe1871432d ago

Man, I hope that game Playground Games is working on is Fable. I miss that series. Probably won't get a Series X for it but will be getting a shiny new PC to play it on.

RazzerRedux1432d ago

I'm down either way. Open world RPG. Yes, please. Be it Fable or new IP.

Yeah...I'm playing on PC as well. No need to buy a console that duplicates what my PC does.

AngelicIceDiamond1432d ago

Have fun despite you two are in the small minority. Hardly anyone buys or suddenly switches or even upgrades to PC considering X Series will be the highest fidelity.

Obviously if you mainly play PC then you're not going anywhere. But if you natively play console you're really not goin anywhere.

chiefJohn1171432d ago

I'm praying it's Fable. Seriously if there was 1 specific thing I wanna see from the event it's Fable.

CaptainHenry9161432d ago (Edited 1432d ago )

I agree with you except for the Halo part. Halo is getting stale. Just show all new IPs

1Victor1432d ago (Edited 1432d ago )

Like they say “you can only do first impression once”and Microsoft messed up their by falling on their old habit of over hype under deliver now no matter how good they do (outside their cult of few hardcore fanboys that can’t see anything wrong) Microsoft is going to have a hard time to convince people they have changed for the better.

Now personally I want to see actual gameplay of new and old franchises and not been called exclusives unless they’re only on series X, just do a disclaimer like Sony did (time exclusive and available on PC) just with that they can show us they are changing for the better.
Oh I forgot most importantly the price
Editing for gloves typos

Petebloodyonion1432d ago

I doubt they will announce the price at the moment.

rlow11432d ago

I wouldn't get to caught up on first impressions. Yes it's important but what's more important is how you finish it. Because that will be what people remember. I agree they need to come out swinging.

Antnee5341432d ago (Edited 1432d ago )

Honestly no halo will never live up to what it once was. Halo 4 was the death of the series, halo is now just a shitty clone of cods flavor of the year. Now I do hope they something to make the console worth purchasing because atm nothing is on this console that is a must buy.

mcstorm1432d ago

I see this halo doing well as it is being hyped up more than ever before. SP was good on 4 and MP was good on 5.if they can mix them together the game could be up there with the others. For me gears 5 did that felt alot better than 4.

I do think Microsoft need to show us all the games that will be available at launch and a few that will be out on the 1st 12 moths. If they do that and all ips look good then announce the price and game pass for free for x amount of months and I can see Ms being onto a winner. That said all if buts and maybes

neutralgamer19921432d ago

Best way to do it is to show a lot of games, show the games which are coming out with the console, show the games which are between 12 to 18 months from launch of the console, and show some games with trailers which are more than 2 to 3 years away

The reason for this is because Sony does the same they show you what's coming now was in development and what could be expected down the road. And please put on professional event we are not looking for a zoom call. Make it a digital event just like Sony. And maybe it's time to rethink the strategy of not having any first party exclusives which are only available for next generation. You may think it sounds good on paper but in the market people will buy console for which they want to play their favorite games on. And if someone can play Halo on OG Xbox One and PC then why would they need to upgrade

I am a long time PlayStation fan and I was not happy with yesterday's conference I thought Sony under delivered. But towards the end of the conference they're really showed up and they flexed their muscles to show the development power they have.

Xbox brand is nowhere as strong as PlayStation or Nintendo so right out of the gate you are starting on the back foot. You must bring must have games and some of them only available on next generation. It's amazing to me this is Microsoft's 4th console and they have yet to have steady stream of video game IPs. That's exactly what happens when you keep depending on three to four different IPs to hold your brand

AngelicIceDiamond1432d ago (Edited 1432d ago )

This is gonna sound weird but I'm slighty, again SLIGHTLY less concerned with content. Then I am the structure of the show. Sony's Conference was a master class in pacing. Games got their time to shine. Games didn't get too little or too much time. Mainly because Sony had a big time window of an hour and a half.

That's what they need to do. The inside Xbox showcase set the wrong expectations. Not so much of what they showed was bad or anyhying we needed gameplay and a reason to be excited for these games.

mrsolidsteel201432d ago

@RazzerRedux

Yea they should definitely do that and show some gameplay for HB 2.

rainslacker1432d ago

I think if MS was thinking of holding back, they probably changed their mind by now. But either way, it's good, because I'm curious what they have brewing as well

ABizzel11432d ago

Agreed those two new IPs from Initiative and Playground are what I'm interested in most from this show.

porkChop1432d ago

Yeah, pretty much. They need to show off some gameplay of their big hitters, and show us the launch lineup. And obviously announce some more games coming within the first year.

Sophisticated_Chap1432d ago

And reveal Lockhart finally. This is the ace in the hole on the hardware front. Software remains to be seen.

Atomicjuicer1431d ago

We dont need or want Lockhart. We have the one x for anyone who wants to make a half step.

Sophisticated_Chap1431d ago

No, the new RDNA2 architecture will allow different technology to be used, such as hardware accelerated Ray Tracing, which the One X can't do, and then you also get the benefit of the much better CPU and the NVMe SSD, so Lockhart isn't for nothing. Besides, AMD probably won't be producing the hardware inside of the One X for very much longer, since it's old tech.

Sharky2311432d ago

I don’t think 3 games is gonna be enough. Especially since ones halo and one is gonna be Forza. I feel like racing games have looked so good for so long. They’ve almost lost the WOW factor. That’s just my opinion... I could be wrong.

DiRtY1432d ago

Perfect Dark reboot (after 16 years!)
Fable IV (after 10 years since Fable III)
Halo Infinite (after 5 years since Halo 5)

Maybe a new Banjo Kazooie or a new Conker as well. Why not?

TranceHop 1432d ago

Hellblade 2 gameplay reveal would be insane!

xboxcult1432d ago

I agree I hope they show some new gameplay from Hellblade 2, MS Flight Simulator, and Everwild.

dumahim1432d ago

Probably won't. At least not something that will match what the final game will look like. They said it will be running Unreal 5 and that isn't available until next year.

Wikkid6661432d ago

Hellblade 2 isn't even close to a point to show game play. That's a 2022/2023 release window.

rdgneoz31432d ago

They did say it was 2 years off from release, so any footage would be pre-alpha at best. It'll probably be one of the first true XSX games and not multi generational releases like they'll have for their first party games for the next 2 years.

RaidenBlack1432d ago

Hellblade II was being recently reported that the development is shifting from UE4 to UEV.
So any gameplay if they show is subjected to change.
So expect only trailer at best similar to that of the Game Awards.

ColdSin1432d ago

To my understanding, the shift from UE4 to the UE5 is easy according to Epic.

chiefJohn1171432d ago

Maybe just maybe....HB2 will be UE4 on XO and UEV on XSX they say the switch is easy.

NotoriousWhiz1432d ago

They should follow the Playstation / Nintendo direct format and show lots of game play from a variety of games, with minimal talking heads.

Koolaidude1431d ago

Really just the Nintendo Direct format.

Vits1432d ago

Basically show off games. But with a greater focus on their internal teams, maybe get some deals rolling with third party devs for time exclusives like Sony did.

What they should not do is reveal the price. Because Sony will definetely undercut them.

xboxcult1432d ago (Edited 1432d ago )

Microsoft already has a lot of 3rd party console exclusive deals. Here is a few titles that are 3rd party and are upcoming console exclusives on Xbox One and Xbox Series X ..... Scorn, The Ascent, The Falconeer, Tunic, Call Of Sea, The Medium, Second Extinction...

It makes me mad that Microsoft doesn't promote there invested games enough. Their marketing team is beyond horrible in my opinion. They invest in so many games but most people don't even know they exist until they release.

Vits1432d ago

I mean big 3rd party games. Like what Sony did with Bethesda.

ColdSin1432d ago

No... timed exclusives is just pure bullshit. This will only create a vicious cycle that is disasterous to the consumer in the long run. I truly hoped that Sony wouldn't go this route.

Vits1432d ago (Edited 1432d ago )

Unfortunately that ship already sailed. And if Microsoft want to compete they will have to do the same.

leejohnson2221432d ago

Do you know who started timed exclusives??

phoenixwing1432d ago (Edited 1432d ago )

to be honest the microsoft fanbase is so faithful at this point they could just show more cgi trailers and they'd defend it. However, i'm sure they got the hint by now that they should show gameplay. It will be a hit no matter what but it won't be as big a hit as sony's presentation (that's just reality). I liked the xbox 360 but i'm putting my money on ps5 and eventually an awesome gaming pc. xbox series x makes no sense to me but i understand there are console only players and they want to only play on xbox. they definitely exist. if microsoft made their consoles only in america i'd feel patriotic enough to buy one though but they make them in china like everyone else.

@vits i'm not so sure sony is in a position to undercut them like the last generation. their ssd doesn't come cheap

Vits1432d ago (Edited 1432d ago )

Every fanbase have it's faithful bunch. The point is convincing the ones that are not part of that group though.

PC is my main gaming platform, but I will likely get either the PS5 or the Series X now that I have a good living room. It only depend on what of those two system will give me the best deal. As I don't have any nostalgia for either brand.

And Sony will burn money if that means moving consoles. I don't think they will let a PS3 happens again. So even if their SSD is expensive (what it really shouldn't) they will just take the hit in order to make their console the cheapest one. .

Obscure_Observer1432d ago (Edited 1432d ago )

@phoenixwing

"to be honest the microsoft fanbase is so faithful at this point they could just show more cgi trailers and they'd defend it. However, i'm sure they got the hint by now that they should show gameplay."

Where´s the gameplay for Horizon, Spiderman and Demon Souls, dude? Where?

phoenixwing1432d ago (Edited 1432d ago )

@obscure
all three of those games will play like the games before them, just upgraded. i do get the point you're making though it would have been nice to have comprehensive gameplay of all 3. here's hoping microsoft has a cool gameplay video of fable coming in july

@vits i seriously do not think that the ssd will be cheap but if i'm proven wrong all the more reason for me to celebrate on a lower price from sony

Edito1432d ago

@Obscure

Sony has proved time and time again that they deliver on games that is why people are not talking a lot about gameplay... but Microsoft in the other hand hasn't delivered anything for an entire gen and more... Sony didn't promise gameplay for every game like Microsoft did with the Inside Xbox event, so yeah... and we all played Spider, Horizon and Souls games... so we know how the gameplay is.

Koolaidude1431d ago

Microsoft still gets your money if you go PC fam.

Hypercharge Unboxed Dev Saddened By Claims It'll Be 'Dead' Without Xbox Game Pass

One of the big Xbox releases heading our way in May 2024 is the long-awaited Hypercharge Unboxed, which is finally bringing its "first and third-person shooter action figure game" to Xbox consoles on Friday, May 31st.

Sadly, ahead of launch, the game's official Twitter (or "X") account has been highlighting the "trolls" who are claiming that because it's not launching on Game Pass, Hypercharge Unboxed is already set up for failure on Xbox.

helicoptergirl9h ago

It's horrible what people will say, but the truth might be harsh. There is a good chance it might not do well on Xbox if it's not on GamePass. There is a strong possibility that is the case. We'll see.

When it launches on Playstation in the future you can rest assured it will sell much better. The devs have confirmed it's coming to Playstation in the future.

"It is built in the Unreal Engine 4. The game was released on the Nintendo eShop on January 31, 2020 and on Steam on April 27, 2020. The development of Hypercharge: Unboxed for the Xbox platform was officially announced on July 16, 2022, with the developers also confirming future support for the PlayStation."

ZeekQuattro8h ago

I remember having this on my radar years ago for the Switch but never pulled the trigger on it. Crazy it's still not on PlayStation yet.
