Neil writes: "Episode 33 of TheXboxHub Official Podcast sees the triple threat of Gareth, Neil and Richard chat over some of the most important and intriguing issues of the last week - namely whether Maneater on Xbox One is actually any good and whether we really need to worry about Backwards Compatibility on Xbox Series X."
Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft's video game subscription service, is set to lose six more titles from its library, bringing the total number of departing games to 11.
The Hunter I still actively play but, eh, I got my fill. I'll grab it on the next Steam sale.
They probably announced and added most of these last showcase season and chances are they were on one-year deals. So makes sense June would see a high list of departing games than most other months.
Gamepass is starting to go downhill IMO. There seems to be more and more Indy games now and they dont seem to care what games come to Gamepass as long its something. There should be a quality standard or at least try and get more retail games, even if its just older 360 games and Xbox one.
"Developer and publisher Tripwire Interactive and retail co-publishing partner Deep Silver are eager to announce the "Maneater Apex Edition" is coming physically to stores for the PS4 and Xbox One on September 30, 2022." - Tripwire Interactive and Deep Silver.
Starting today, Maneater is free at Epic Games Store. The free game offer runs until June 16 at 11 AM Eastern. Once you claim it, it’s yours to keep.
Why get rid of it? Backwards compatibility is a good feature to have especially for people with large digital libraries and those who collect games. I hope some day, Microsoft achieves 100% backwards compatibility from OG Xbox to Xbox One. The software is there to do so, but licensing is a hindrance.
Do we need it? No, absolutely not. Is it nice to have? 100%. My backlog of PS4 titles is huge, and when I buy a PS5 you think I want to still keep my PS4 hooked up to my TV? I'd rather just move on completely.
It's not a deal breaker, but there is no reason to not have it with this new line of consoles.
Do I really need to save my money? My library? No, let me rebuy everything. Seriously, it's amazing how oblivious some console owners are when it comes to BC, considering pc gamers have had their library with them for almost two decades.
Is BC nice to have? Yes it is but if the PS5/XSX didn't have BC it wouldn't stop me from buying them both Day 1.
Do I need to keep what I paid for? Stop asking stupid questions. Also stop showing your Stockholm Syndrome and making excuses for these companies not to bother to try just so they can do a light up res and sell you back something you already paid for. Because behind every other aspect Your thinking on this ,this is the bottom line. I paid for it and the fact that they are going out of the way to respect my purchases, and I was able to carry forward and finish certain 360 games in my backlog that I owned on Xbox One is nothing but a good thing. There is no question about that. The system MS has put in to place should be the standard for all digital purchases for all game companies from here onward now that they are all based on x86 architecture. Also stop mentioning ps2 and early PS3 backwards compat in arguments we’re not talking about the archaic disk based method were talking about carrying forward your digital purchases. It is not the same thing. This should be your right to keep what you paid for. It doesn’t matter if old games old. You paid for it.
