Really liking the BotW style exploration/open world with their own really cool touches like using animals for the final stretch of discovery.

Two versions of Yamadas work, but it is Takezaki's work in particular that shows the ferocious defense mounted by the Japanese that for some time office sitting historians did not think occurred.

This is actually a must buy, the gameplay and setting looks amazing. I liked the Sekiro vibes, but the Samurai combat was something truly unique, I absolutely loved that part, being a fan of Kurosawa movies. Japanese have a saying "Shiniyaku" for samurai movies, which means how you act once you have been sliced with a sword. They nailed that part with the animations.

Few things I didn't like were the Witcher-esque open world map with question marks and fast travel options, I wanted this to be more like Demon's Souls/Sekiro. The way the character picks up stuff without an animation is also a bit strange, looks a bit like PS2 era. Also, some of the graphics were better than the others, some animations were clipping and so forth. I feel like the game is a masterpiece, but it needed 12 months more in the oven. They have around 8 weeks to polish it up if this was, say, 2 weeks old build.

Hope the wind and animals guiding you can be toned down. Natural exploration with the odd visual hint via wind/animals would be nice, rather than constant animals guiding you like a disney film and wind that is too shiny and bright.

Unfortunately I don't have a 4k TV yet, but I'm getting either the C9 or CX this fall with PS5 and Series X, so I might just wait to play in 4k. I don't think 1080p on a regular PS4 would do this game justice.

Keep in mind that LG cut the bandwidth from 48Gbps to 40Gbps on the CX model to free up processing recources for AI features. Depending on your preferences that might point you towards getting the C9 over the CX. It'll also be cheaper. The C9 was the first fully compatible HDMI 2.1 4k TV available and it looks like it'll be more future proof than the successor. Glad I got mine at home and I can't wait to see Ghost of Tsushima on that OLED screen.

As far as I understand the reduction to 40Gbps won't really matter for any content that can be displayed on the TV. I'm still planning to get a CX, but I would be perfectly happy to get a C9 instead. They're very close overall.

@Ratchet75: It's hard to recommend a TV just knowing the budget. It really depends what the main use case of the TV will be. If you mainly use it for gaming than a low display latency will take a high priority for example. I recommend looking at some of the buying guides from Rtings and HDTVTest on their sites. They also have great youtube channel where you can get a good overview on what's available in your price range and what freatures to look out for.

@starchild: It won't matter much for the native capabilities of the TV, but you won't be able to pass an uncompressed 12-bit HDR, 4k, 120fps signal without chroma subsampling. It likely won't be a huge deal in real world scenarios, but it's something to keep in mind.

Just been watching the state of play in 4K and honestly, it's a massive difference!

I have the Lgc6 65 and everyday it blows my eyeballs to smithereens. I did my research before I bought it, so I knew it would be a superb all rounder for games & movies.

I watched the Unreal 5 demo on it yesterday and my jaw hit the floor. Also of note on the C9, was how amazing the sound was through my soundbar, when the rocks were falling in the tunnel. The tv played it with an incredible 3d depth and I was able to hear individual rocks & pebbles falling from, left to right and at one point behind the character during the cave section of the demo. I now know what Mr Cerny was talking about in regards to the acoustics with PS5.

I had to sell my liver & kidney and stopped short of, favours of ahem, a dishonourable nature to purchase mine, but rest assured, the lg C9 has been worth every penny. Lastly of note, there are a tonne of inbuilt features to prevent the risk of burn in. Ie if I leave a static screen on, it will after a set time go to a moving, twinkly, black starry backdop by default. I have used mine like a Trojan warrior over the last 8 months, playing games and watching movies and TV shows and have had zero burn in issues.

The C9 is like a F1 racing car which has made my old Samsung 2016 ks8000 look like Driving Miss Daisy.

Trust me, nobody is port begging on PC. Most PC players have consoles too and can play them there, but nobody wants to play a game that seems to flit between 15fps (seriously) and 25fps. There are serious framerate issues here, there'd better be a performance mode.

Otherwise it looks amazing, and I would have been sold if it wasn't for the framerate issues, which look like they may seriously hamper enjoyment.

What an incredibly beautiful game Sucker Punch has created. Phenomenal art direction, the developers really paid attention to detail and delivered a visually striking game, in my opinion of course.

The combat as the samurai and ghost look brutal and realistic. Stealth segments look great and player outfits with perks to help the playstyle and combat sounds great and hopefully does help with combat variety.

Loved the musical scores and their inclusion in photo video mode. Being able to change background effects is also welcomed and seems they've put a lot of thought behind capturing screenshots.

Very interested in seeing how well wind navigation plays out, but is a nice touch. I wonder has any other game gone the same route to navigate.

The fox as a sort of a guide is also cool, but I always thought that in Skyrim the foxes in that game did the same thing, helping the player get back on track. I could be wrong but it always seemed that way to me when ever I was lost I would notice a fox run by and wait around so I would follow and some how ended up back on track.

The ability to affect the voice acting from the very beginning even before a scene starts is also a nice touch for those who want to play with Japanese voice acting first. My first playthrough will be in english so I can fully take in the story, and color for the visuals. Second time will be Japanese voice acting with color visuals. If the game is as good as this State of Play shows then my third play through will be black and white with Japanese voice acting. Then maybe once again in cinema mode.

Solidifies why I chose this game over The Last of Us from the first showing of Ghost premier trailer. Not taking a dump on tlou which I still will get day one, but this, this game will be something special I believe.

Did anyone notice at the end of the trailer there were 122,980 people watching, imagine how many views in the next 24 hours. This game is going to break records when released, I can feel it in me bones.

This gives a a distinct "taking full advantage of the hardware" vibe that has been missing some this gen. Don't get me wrong, there have been many great games, I just feel like games progressed more from the beginning of the PS3 gen to the end, than what has happened this gen.

That could just be because it was easier to develop on the PS4 from the beginning, so there wasn't as apparent of a shift over the years. Still, this is exciting to see. Despite being a big Sucker Punch fan (Infamous is one of the most underrated franchises in my view; unlike uncharted, it was never able to recover from originating during the era when it was still fashionable to hate on PS3), I wasn't sure this was going to be my bag, but after the last few trailers and this, I think I'm sold.

Fantastic showing. This game for me just kept getting better the more they showed it. I enjoyed this style of “State of Play”. I hope they take this format going forward. Solid gameplay, nice narrative and gave the game the attention it deserves.

The only thing that looked "downgraded" to me was some of the larger rock formations near the beginning, and some of the textures on the road. Everything else looked as good, or better than the prior showings. They could have maybe eased up on the sun glare at times though. I'm having a hard time recalling much of those two things from prior showings of the game, so saying it's downgraded probably isn't the right term. Maybe not as up to par with the rest of the visuals.

It's hard to believe we see these sorts of games running on the base PS4. From Horizon, to Uncharted 4, God of War now to this. Sony really has some amazing 1st party developers who can do what feels like magic in comparison to other studios.

I can't wait to see what this game looks like on my 4K OLED. If Horizon or God of War were any indication, I am in for another visual treat.

Legit looking forward to this, and I don't usually play many games involving Samurai.

Anyone else got a Red dead vibe? It shares a lot of similarities. Seriously it could pass as red dead 2 dlc. The world doesn't have as much detail as red dead but it still seem flushed out none the less. This is the AC we been asking for. I'm willing to bet the next AC will have an Asian setting after this. My only worry about this game after seeing this is the map might be to small. Hard to tell but when they pulled the map up it didnt look very big and he travelled half of 1 region pretty quick.

As i watching it live i wasn't totally blown away by what i was seeing. However, watching it a second time, it helped me appreciate everything even More. Holy f this game looks INCREDIBLE!!! I got a combination of Horizon Zero dawn, witcher 3 assassin's creed and Nioh vibes from this demo!

It also looks like they are doubling down on immersion in the open world - relying on visual cues to reveal possible secrets and locations which is made even more impressive considering the level of visual fidelity here. . I hope the game is littered with places to explore. I was impressed with the combat - taking a leaf out of nioh's book with different stances - and the stealth gameplay especially looks brutal.

All in all, this is shaping up to be the complete package. Nice!

That's been sonys MO for the majority of this gen, beauty masking deficiencies in gameplay.
As long as they can "wow" you in looks, it won't matter much how the game plays out. This comment section is a good example.

This is like a Japanese themed Assassins Creed without the silly time jumping around between past and present day story. Done very nicely though. I was hoping for dismemberment in they way he slashed at his enemies. I know the Japanese have a problem with cutting of heads, so how about an arm or hand? What about visible damage to the enemies? And more blood spilling like the movies Shogun Assassins.
EDIT. No wait. I stand corrected. I watched it again and missed the hands being cut off during the fight at the mongolian site during the day.
