the few things that i like in Nintendo is that doesnt give a FCK about what PC want (or fans of other system generally) ...Nintey protects their console and their (not so perfect) franchises with teeths and claws ..

.In the other Sony that indeed has an unmatched skill to create unique exclusive IPs (even the mediocre ones) just share them on PC (pS now , Horizon on windows etc) in search for bigger sales , that will surely hurt Playstation console

Sony must completely ignore PC crybabies and make PStation console the only place that you can experience its exclusives ...

ocelot071472d ago (Edited 1472d ago )

I see your point. That's if Sony was to release 1st party titles on PC and PS4/5 the same day. But with Horizon they released it 3 years later on PC. That extra cash in sales will most likely go towards Horizon 2 for PS5. If PC fans really enjoy Horizon 1 a few of them might not want to wait a possible 3 years for a PC port of 2 so will invest in a PS5. So it's win win for Sony.

KwietStorm_BLM1472d ago

You really typed all that and still clicked submit huh.

Father__Merrin1472d ago

i agree pc games should just be moba point click etc and a few sims thrown in

MWH1472d ago

Try to relax, life is good.

Exvalos1472d ago

As a 20 year Sony veteran and a gamer in general, this is one of the most ignorant and fanboy comments I have ever read.

nowitzki20041472d ago

Damn, I really want to know what PC gamers did to some of you.

naruga1472d ago

@nowitzki ...i have nothing against PC ...i m just a Playstation zealot ..that s all

I mean, wasn't there that supposed leak that Nintendo was remastering like all previous mario 3D games (Except 3D world and Galaxy 2 if I remember correctly) for swtich? If that's actually true I don't blame them for taking this down.

Jrios3551472d ago

Water is NOT wet. It is a liquid that MAKES things wet.

A more proper wording would be "The sky is blue", or "The grass is green".

Outside_ofthe_Box1472d ago (Edited 1472d ago )

Welp you went down this road lol =)

The sky isn't blue nor is grass green. What you see is the REFLECTION of the blue and green light that is not absorbed by the sky and grass respectively. So technically an object is all colors except what is being reflected.

So "The sky is blue" or "the grass is green" is NOT a more proper wording, going by your logic.

We get it water is not wet, I'm just tired of people being Mr/Mrs Auto-correct all the time. =/

Jrios3551472d ago

@Outside_ofthe_Box

Might as well just say that the earth is flat too lol

jambola1472d ago

a more proper example would be "there will always be annoying weirdos in comment sections"

Eidolon1472d ago

Water is a liquid. A gold bullion is a solid. Air is breathable... Super boring statements that are 100% true for any being and our physical world.

You could also say the Sky is blue, and grass is green.. This is the description of the object that reflects those wavelengths. No, an object is not all colors, it is THE COLOR, BECAUSE IT'S REFLECTING IT. You say grass is green, because it's reflecting it... Are you an idiot?

Jrios3551471d ago

@Eidolon

Even if I'm wrong, is water still wet?

N O I T ' S N O T

I guess we're all idiots in this website lol

Wow Nintendo
you sure do suck

Ratchet751472d ago

No they don't, they just do what all of us would do if one of our property was stolen.

FanboyPolice1472d ago

Maybe what you would do in this situation. Not all. This is not like stealing their only car. And this is not made to shame the company or its product. Either to profit, nor to devalue the franchise.

Eamon1472d ago

FFS, Mario 64 is easily the most emulated N64 game ever.
A fan-made PC port won't change that.

jambola1472d ago

No, if someone released something i made for more people to enjoy 20 years later i wouldn't care
maybe it's their own fault for making it so hard for anyone to access it

considering that nintendo seems to be the only one so uptight about it, you're clearly in the wrong about what all of us would do

FanboyPolice1472d ago

Yeah they do. It’s a shame because this won’t even stop the game for being distributed. The only thing they achieve is to look bad.

Mr_Writer851472d ago (Edited 1472d ago )

"maybe it's their own fault for making it so hard for anyone to access it"

It's not hard to go buy an N64 and a copy of the game or a 3DS and the 3DS remake.

Then there is the rumour of a Switch remake happening.

Expensive, sure, hard? Not at all.

"seems to be the only one so uptight about it,"

Didn't Sony try suing the team that made the PS1 emulator... Then use said emulator for the PS1 classic?

1472d ago
jambola1471d ago

don't use rumors as an argument
that's just desperate

maybe they did, but Nintendo are the ones constantly doing this stuff

Mr_Writer851471d ago (Edited 1471d ago )

"don't use rumors as an argument
that's just desperate"

That wasn't my whole argument, my main argument is buying an N64 or a 3DS to play the game isn't hard.

Maybe try reading the post first?

Oh and there is no "maybe" about it.

Toiletsteak1472d ago

Of course they took it down, it's Nintendo. I would love it if they remastered this game though for Switch.

FanboyPolice1472d ago

Nintendo is possibly one of the few companies that can literally live of remasters for years. They have so many super loved games. And gamers of those times are now adults and would pay for those gems.

Instead they do this

Etseix1472d ago

People are downvoting you while playing SMW remade on Mario Maker 2

1472d ago
Mr_Writer851471d ago

There was a story on Eurogamer recently saying Nintnedo have plans to do just that.

OG_TK_Cole1472d ago

You guys kill me.. Why wouldn't they take it down, its their video game. You cant just go around Infringing on peoples property and think that its ok.

RosweeSon1472d ago

No apparently you can but I’m sure if these people created something and then everyone else just borrowed it and made money out of it they’ve be absolutely fine with that 😑💆🏻‍♂️ 😜✌🏻🤓

Hungryalpaca1472d ago

Except these ports don’t make money...

FanboyPolice1472d ago

The thing is that, the game is not being remastered. This is not a satire or a way to steal Nintendo’s property. This is actually an anthem of adoration for such an amazing experience. So good that fans decided to take their time to do the job themselves. And share it with others.

It’s not even a war. It’s a tribute.

--Onilink--1472d ago

Its unauthorized use of their IP and if they do not defend it, they can lose it. This was ALWAYS going to happen. Thats how it works

1472d ago
Neonridr1472d ago

it's not their property though. They are using assets and characters that don't belong to them. I get it's an homage and they are trying to honor Nintendo, but that doesn't make it any less illegal.

RazzerRedux1472d ago

They have every right to take it down. That doesn't mean that taking it down is right. What if I wrote some fan fiction about Nathan Drake and used "Uncharted" in the title and gave it away for free? Yeah....Sony could stop me. Should they? Of course not.

These companies should stop being corporate assholes when it comes to this stuff and let fans be fans. As long as they are not profiting from this, I don't see the problem.

Nerdmaster1472d ago

You're... comparing the release of a pirated game to writing a fan fiction?

Dude, this game isn't an original game that uses the characters of Mario franchise (when Nintendo does take down this type of games, I also get irked) to be compared to a fan fiction. This game is the whole Super Mario 64, the game that Nintendo made. A guy just made the game work on PC without emulators, he didn't create a game from zero.

RazzerRedux1472d ago

Yeah....not a good comparison on my part. I see your point.

1472d ago
--Onilink--1472d ago

And then when someone else decides to write an actual book based on some “uncharted fan fiction” and Sony decides to go after them, they can show how Sony didnt go after you.

Regarding IPs, if you dont defend it, you can lose it

Harkins17211472d ago

It's already out in the world. People can just share it again.

jambola1472d ago

at least they were smart enough to just release it instead of announcing it months before

Super Mario 64 DS: Remakes Done Right

Super Mario 64 DS was offered as a launch title for the Nintendo DS, a remake of the classic platform game with a few original tricks.

Chard18d ago

Not with those D-pad controls

CDbiggen18d ago

Needs more appreciation. I never had an N64 so this was what I played. Sure the Yoshi hat mechanic at first is a slog but you unlock Mario and the others for real and then it takes off. Personally I never had an issue with the controls. Can't forget the mini games and the 4 player rumble over download play.

kevco3318d ago

Indeed, as stated in the article there were tonnes of control options and very much a 'take whatever you like, leave the rest' attitude to most of the game's extras.

If they ever did I hope they would add onto it, there's so much you could do with Princess Peach's castle alone

roadkillers101d ago

Or just make the Mario 128... the cancelled sequel that sounded amazing (or was it just an amazing tale).

fr0sty101d ago

Funny that after all these years, we still use 64 bit CPUs, so it wouldn't make sense to call it that.

fr0sty101d ago

Yeah, a straight remake doesn't sound good to me. Same formula, but different game.

Number1TailzFan102d ago

Each level is pretty small today in the original game, I don't like huge levels but I think they could be at least 2x bigger, or close to it and more of them, with more things to do.

They could do a mix of having open levels and more linear ones like in 3D World or Land, I doubt they will do that but it would make a change.

Neonridr101d ago

I mean Odyssey's levels weren't massive, but requiring you to do different things in each world is what made the levels feel bigger than they were.

ZeekQuattro102d ago

I'd prefer a Oydessey 2 or Galaxy 3. Besides the DS
game was a Mario 64 remake complete with more playable characters, stages, bosses and muti player content.

Cacabunga101d ago (Edited 101d ago )

I did not like Odyssey i found the idea of ot lame.. i find it boring to just look for moons instead of exploring and enjoying the levels. Let’s not talk about the extremely repetitive and ridiculously easy bosses. Level design is so meh most of the time. Galaxy 2 is a far better game so Galaxy 3 anytime!!!

TiredGamer101d ago

Agreed. I enjoyed Odyssey for a while, but it quickly became very formulaic where each level felt like a checklist of things to do with WAY too many moons to find. The Galaxy series were the best, as they took some of what made 64 great and juiced it up perfectly.

Lolly101d ago

Yes! Let's release an almost 30 year old game to kick off the next generation for Nintendo...
I'm over re-releases...FEED ME NEW MARIO!
