This is my theory:

• Sony wanted to publish this in May and sell a separated Remaster for PS5 Later, just like they did with TLOU1 remastered...
the biggest system seller at PS4 launch.
• Microsoft comes up with "Free Remasters" for Series X... kills that strategy.
• With the excuse of covid, Sony delayed the game "indefinitely" so they can launch it for both PS4 and PS5 in parallel and keep the hype and charge on both consoles.
• Someone VERY angry about this, leaked the whole game yesterday on the Internet, probably someone who really needed that bonus money for this season.
• After the Leak, Sony is pushed to release the game ASAP. Obviously, the game had gone gold already.

I mean it's possible but I doubt that was the case. I don't think they was planning on selling a remaster at all. As people would would of questioned why it was not a simple update since both PS4 and PS5 architecture is near enough the same.

I think one of Sony's upcoming announcements will be. At launch they will have PS5 patches for the likes of Spiderman, God of War, Ghosts, Last Of Us, Days Gone, Horzion plus more. Plus what ever launch exclusives they have for the PS5.

That's why people are replying to you this way as your alternative is to never release or release in June. You should word it better as remaining indefinite means never releasing. When people say it is delayed indefinitely that means until a new date is set. I think what you mean is releasing in June or much later.

This. I went a few years before even playing tlou 1. While I knew the general premise, I paid zero attention to people the hype and people talking about it when it came out. Years later it was still a great experience. Spoilers have released for a lot of games without such a hissy. Don't read them for crying out loud. Issue resolved.

Although I cant wait to play both games, I'm way more interested in Ghost of Tsushima.

If people are so concerned about storyline leaks, then why read them. Surely if you care that much about the games story you would do your best to avoid any spoilers and not dive head first into an article divulging the storyline and critical plot points.
Even if others put a spoiler in the title of a video or article why continue to look at or read pass what was already spoiled. Besides most spoilers only give the critical information and not the subtle nuances of the story and characters. Also if so concerned about story then don't even look at trailers for the game made by the development house because many times too much information can still leak out in dev diaries and the like.

Now for my big decision: play these gems immediately or wait till next gen? At the same time I'm considering buying Xbox Series X long before PS5 due to it's alleged superiority. Hopefully within the next month or so we see some next gen gameplay analysis from the Digital Foundry boys so I can make an informed decision.

I don't know about that. It feels like Sony is not treating Sucker punches's game with respect by prioritizing Naughty Dog's game. There is a reason why games don't release in July and August...that's because they don't sell during that period. People go on holiday and although there will still be a travel ban in July people are still gonna go on holiday locally.

Last of us 2 had a release date of May 24th which is a month from now. They can still manufacture tons of retail because the lockdown are starting to ease and by the 24th more places will open.
