Square-Go: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness: Episode 2 review

Square-Go:

"The comedy, although even darker this time round, is still brilliantly written. Even the occasionally lengthy conversations are interesting, bracketed by frequent animated cut-scenes that give a flavour of fun that was sadly underused the first time round. As before, this sort of darkly black comedy may not appeal to everyone, especially since a good portion of the plot involves killing the mentally ill. The counterpoint is that it still seems more style than substance when it comes to the storytelling.

Overall, this is a decent sequel and any fan of the original would be well justified in laying down their money-pounds to play out the continuing hilarity. Just don't expect a more rounded experience, as it's still just as inane and bizarre as the first game, and just as refreshing for it."

Preview: Hands-on Penny Arcade’s On The Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness [Try Indie]

Try Indie: "The trajectory of Zeboyd Games’ indie RPGs has been followed the beginnings of the genre. Their first game, Breath of Death VII, had the charming looks of an enhanced 8-bit game. Followup Cthulhu Saves the World moved things to the early 16-bit days with detailed artwork and some nice backdrops. Their latest game, Penny Arcade’s On The Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness looks like it belongs among better looking SNES games. All it needs is some Mode 7 graphics to totally nail the look."

Ahh, Braid. Game of the Millennium.

I've still yet to play the full version. I'll probably pick it up on PC soon...

Ugh, double-posted. Lemme think of something else to say....

I think the author did a great job, and I'm having difficulty thinking up anything that could have been listed on here instead. The only one that's got me a bit confused is UNO. 0_o

SlamVanderhuge5540d ago

I'm sad to admit that I have played many an hour of Uno

cain1415540d ago

Geometry Wars is on of the best time wasters ever created...

SirLarr5540d ago

Uno? Really?

I have a don't-play-anything-I-could-ea sily-do-in-real-life policy.

Ocelot39975540d ago

Exactly. This list just serves to remind me how boring XBLA games are. PSN FTW. They have games that are experimental and push the limits of games.

DK_Switch5540d ago

It takes a real fanboy to bring up the PSN in the comments to an article that has nothing to do with it.

Who ever said "don't hate the player" has clearly never met you, Ocelot.

Viewtiful5540d ago

This is a pretty good list. I vehemently disagree with #1. Although I think I'm probably the only one.
