Capcom Announces Super Street Fighter Destination Experience

With the release of Microsoft's New Xbox Experience tomorrow everyone seems to be wanting a piece of the action. Capcom has just announced that it will have a specific "destination" for fans of the upcoming XBLA title Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix to view the latest information and media on the game.

Not as big of a deal as an entire channel devoted to whatever Capcom wants to use it for over on the PSN Store. It's only for one game here.

Personally, I think Capcom is doing more for the PSN than with the Live Arcade right now.

And why do I have the feeling that MS gave them this just to compete with what Sony did for them?

EDIT:

lol@ a comment that someone posted when the Bitbag posted this story (which, by the way, started with "Wow this came as a surprise! Glad to see 3rd parties already taking advantage of the NXE. Here is what we are getting". WE?!! Shouldn't you say THEY? Sounds like SOMEONE is happy about Capcom giving them this.):

"JorgieX, on November 18th, 2008 at 5:15 pm Said:

I was actually looking at this section yesterday when I got my NXE. From what PS3 fanboys say..lol
PSN was gonna get exclusive Capcom themed section….! I guess the exclusive was just to announce it first and nothing more. NXE is ripe for this type of promotion. I love my NXE..I pwns all….!"

WOW! He really hasn't seen the PSN Storefront Capcom has there, has he?

The PSN thing has a LOT more than SSF2 remix (and by the way, it's not Thursday yet, just so you know), which is the only thing MS got from this. Remember, Capcom kind of dissed Live a month or so ago, so I don't think them and MS are exactly friends just because of this. It's good for 360 gamers, though, nonetheless.

How is Capcom doing more for PSN? All downloadable Capcom games have been on XBLA as well. If you are talking about the store, that's not really doing anything for PSN, that's more of an advertising deal with Sony. Remind me again who got the beta for Super Street Fighter HD Turbo Remix? Exactly, that was exclusive to XBLA, not PSN.

ThanatosDMC5658d ago

Speaking of Capcom, is Age of Booty any good? When you go inside the Capcom store front in PS Store that's like the first thing stamped on the screen.

That doesn't mean why that put more effort into XBLA. Sony gave them Choice on the PSN. Capcom takes advantage of that Choice now, which is why you see them complain most of the time on XBLA has size limits. Capcom has also Signed in for Trophies and of course Home. Because of that effort they are putting on the PSN, Sony is rewarding them now by granting them their own PSN department store.
Expect Capcom to do more on the PS3/PSN than ever before.

1. Like I said, this is NOT Thursday. The PS Store only does updates on Thursdays, so who knows? Maybe Capcom plans on making this avaliable for everyone but is going to update for the PS3 once Sony does the update (I didn't read all of that press release, so I don't know if they said it was exclusive or not). From the love fest Capcom has given to the PS3 and PSN lately, we can probably expect them to.
2. The HD Remix beta happened a long time before Capcom maturely trashed the Live service (remember the Ripten thing a bit back concerning that stuff?). Also, on the latest episode of the HipHopGamer show (who, by the way, is one of the few Bitbag people that I like as he has plenty of talent and sense. Hopefully he doesn't hate me as much as the other people do on there (which I could care less if anyone else over there does or not)), he mentioned that the upcoming game from them "The Punisher" is a PSN exclusive. This might be a sign of things to come, actually.

EDIT: Also, what pwnsause just said. He actually said things I didn't even know about (the trophy support and the Home support. NICE! Hopefully Mega Man 9 will get trophy support. If it does, then anyone that thinks that I sounded gay on my YouTube videos BEFORE won't be hearing ANYTHING yet, as I'm one of the bigger Mega Man fanboys around and will be dancing in the fu#king STREET. Don't ask, I just WILL!).

Bnet3435658d ago

You don't even know if it was Sony that let them do that. Unless you have a link, I can just saying Capcom paid Sony for ad space on PSN.

pwnsause5658d ago (Edited 5658d ago )

Ok, Heres a link
http://www.ripten.com/2008/...

And another

http://www.joystiq.com/2008...

Good idea on Sony for Opening up the store like this

@darkpower

MegaMan 9 will not have trophy support cause it was too late to add such an addition, games like Bionic Commando Rearmed and Supposively Street FIghter II HD Remix, not to mention Age of Booty will have Trophy support.

Other than that they Did signed up for Trophy Support and Home. SFII HD Remix is one of their last games for the year. After the end of this year, all of their games Have to Support Trophies according to the contract. BTW Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5 is supporting Home, if you havent seen the Video, you should go see it.

And you say you're not a Playstation Fankid? When I said 'We' I meant gamers who own Xbox 360's. What else would I mean by saying that? You are hilarious!

Every single attack post you make is against Microsoft or the 360 or the gamers that own 360's. And this is coming from someone who doesn't own a 360 and has no idea what Capcom has planned for the NXE.

I don't hate you btw, I just don't have any respect for you. You call me out on these 'threads' all the time but wouldn't come on my show to duke it out with me. I was even willing to go one on one in a podcast with you so the playing field was even. You are a game journalist now right? Put up or shut up.

JD_Shadow5657d ago

>> And you say you're not a Playstation Fankid? <<

Did you forget the Wii exists?

>> When I said 'We' I meant gamers who own Xbox 360's. What else would I mean by saying that? You are hilarious! <<

So, your choice of words suck. Not the first time you didn't choose your words properly when writing an article. And what did "we" mean when you first wrote that, huh? Sure, it means what you said NOW because you got called out on it (as always, I have to check you), but that doesn't necessarily mean that's what you were saying when you wrote it.

And still, what were the readers that read it going to think when seeing THAT the way it was worded?

>> Every single attack post you make is against Microsoft or the 360 or the gamers that own 360's. <<

1. I've spoken ill of MS's business tactics and their failure to actually FIX the RROD problem, not them completely. Wanna know what OS I'm running on my comp now and have yet to have a problem with? You'll never believe it: WINDOWS, F'N, VISTA!! Not once did I have an issue with it, and I actually like the OS (I'm in that minority). Oh, and what was one of the games that I was saying I was really wanting to play? Oh yeah: FABLE 2! What system is that on, again?
2. I've called out the blind fanboys that just defend the console and/or suddenly insult the people that just do a civilized debate. As you have seen during the past 3/4 year (if you cared TO see it), there have been several times where people have posted a well thought out comment that just marginally says something negative about the 360 with "YOU PS3 FANBOY, ROT IN HELL!" in the GAMER ZONE! And they get away with it! This is what I'm calling ill to, not every single person that owns a 360.

And by the way, one of my online friends, someone who I usually agree with alot on this site, Sonarus, has a 360 (I know because he was playing it while his PS3 was out of commission for a bit because of that Wipeout HD bug some time back). If I was attacking all the 360 owners on this site, I would be attacking him, too, yet you never seen me do that. Yeah, I'll say when and why I disagree with a viewpoint, but unless you're someone that goes into an immature diatribe (like some of the people that have viciously insulted me in the name of your website that I've asked you to distance yourself from yet you've not done so).

If I'm not going to bring up some of the things I do about you or the 360, who will?

>> And this is coming from someone who doesn't own a 360 and has no idea what Capcom has planned for the NXE. <<

Then enlighten me! Tell me what it is that you know that no one that reported this story knows that no one has read yet!

>> I don't hate you btw, I just don't have any respect for you. <<

Likewise

>> You call me out on these 'threads' all the time but wouldn't come on my show to duke it out with me. <<

And I might had was it not for you're silly tactics of calling my house at midnight like some drunken sailor when you went out LOOKING for my number (like some stalker), and your audience that tells people how and why they should kill themselves just because they disagree with you and call you out on the things you discuss.

And by the way, why shouldn't anyone be allowed to call you out. You ARE on the internets saying your opinion. Of course you're going to get some people doubting you, especially when you pretend that it's just the PS3 that ever has fanboys. Clear up your OWN damn image before going and saying that anyone else has to clean up THEIR'S! I don't expect everyone to agree with me, but I do expect people to say their points respectfully and understand that I am not blindly defending anything.

>> I was even willing to go one on one in a podcast with you so the playing field was even. <<

Read above.

>> You are a game journalist now right? Put up or shut up. <<

Well, seeing as how you're REALLY wanting me to come on there and save your show or something like that (HHG can do ten times better and I would GLADLY give him space on Game Gazette if he ever needed it provided I could get the resources going for it as I'm still learning with my site), I would be the only other unbiased voice on there. Then again, you've proven yourself to not be any better of a journalist, so let's just leave it at that.

Capcom is trying hard to get its place in the digital download market.

Pffft. What desperate articles

I played street fighter 2 for years on my SNES even after I got my N64. It was just relaxing the way you could beat the snot out of such iconic characters.

Persona 5, Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD & Virtua Fighter 5 are almost playable on RPCS3

Great news for all PS3 fans (blasphemyyyyyyyy, how can a PC gaming site talk about PS3 fans, how, HOW, HOOOOOOWWWWW) as RPCS3 is making a lot of progress. Since the launch of a Patreon campaign, its author has been working hard on it and it appears that its latest version can run a couple of games.

Humble Capcom Playstation Bundle Nearing End Date

Carl Williams writes, "If you are reading this then you are probably a fan of retro games. Just taking a stab in the dark there. Well, we just found out that Capcom, one of the better retro supporting companies out there, has this package with Humble Bundle full of Playstation 3 and Playstation 4 games. You better hurry and grab this one because time is running out."

If they had more PS4 games I would've taken advantage of this.

triverse2811d ago

I have to agree. I wish companies would do more porting of their previous digital only games such as Final Fight Double Impact over to the PS4. I want to get a Playstation but 3 seems on the way out and 4 is still too new for a lot of what I am interested in.

NapalmSanctuary2810d ago (Edited 2810d ago )

I wish they would port their full classic line brawlers from the 90s. Man, they made some good games back then.

triverse2810d ago

Napalm, check out their PSP Reloaded and Remixed collections. Great value for the money and full of their core retro games. I am not sure what consoles they released those collections on but I am sure PS3 and Xbox 360 were in there.

just-joe2810d ago

Or say if the PS4 was backwards compatible.

triverse2810d ago

Well, we know that is not going to happen anytime soon, at least not till people stop buying PS3 games and such. Sad. I wish it was backwards compatible too- I would buy a PS4 immediately if it worked with at least the digital stuff from the PS3.

DivineAssault 2810d ago

I wish Sony would get the licenses for all the classic arcade games from the 80s and 90s for the PS4.. I dont see why they wouldnt want to make money? I miss those brawlers like xmen, tmnt, etc.. So many great games people are forced to play on mame

triverse2810d ago

The problem with that idea is that a lot of those companies are now defunct and no one really knows who owns the rights to what game. Then in cases like X-Men, it is multiple companies involved (the engine would be Konami's while the actual X-Men license would be Marvel's) and sometimes none of the companies involved are interested in working together again for whatever reason.

I wish it would happen too though.
