Dreams User Offered Job By European Game Developer

A Dreams content creator responsible for making an arcade shooter has revealed he's been offered a job by a European game dev.

UnSelf1547d ago

It’s called Dreams because it makes them come true

GTgamer1547d ago

Hell some of the things I've seen made my jaw drop so I definitely see other players being offered jobs.

Imalwaysright1547d ago

Yep. Imo by the far the most impressive game of this generation.

GTgamer1547d ago

@imalwaysright
Hands down imagine what we'll see further down the line gonna be some insane creations.

Genkins1547d ago (Edited 1547d ago )

1 out of a 100 people will usually get a job. thanks to society.

fr0sty1546d ago

Imagine what happens when they drop the VR update...

Kinda makes Sony look stupid tho.

Teflon021547d ago

Please elaborate?

1 Mm make what they want to make. THEY make the game they want. If someone uses Dreams as a portfolio, they can get a job anywhere they want. Doesn't mean they'd get the job because alot of the backend stuff is dealt with by Mm and the engine

telekineticmantis1547d ago

Teflon instead of recruiting talent you have working right on your platform on your game, you have others taking it right from under you.

Tele, I’d have to disagree also. This reminds me of the Unity or Unreal tool sets that are free to use and create with. However, Dreams Is much more user friendly.
Having this game just may spawn a newer gen of creative devs....you never know.

averagejoe261546d ago

Sony has all of the talent they need.

1 novice developer from Dreams is not going to change Sony for the better.

ShadowWolf7121546d ago

Or, you know, it helps them get into the industry, gain experience, and become quite hireable later?

The saltiness on those disagreeing with UnSelf comment can be smell through the screen.
Wait there’s smoke too noooo it’s burns it burns.
All jokes aside haven’t played the game yet so can’t comment on the game quality

badz1491546d ago

first, it was GT Sport player getting a real seat in real races even in Formula 3 this year, now Dreams are also doing its things. great to hear gamers getting the job in what they love doing by doing what they love.

DerfDerf1546d ago

I don't see how one could possibly make the transition unless they already have real experience and knowledge when it comes to making games. What you do in dreams is so stripped down in comparison to an engine like Unreal or Unity.

IN_ecK1546d ago

This I’m very curious about, do you know this from experiencing all of Dreams tools and methods comparing them with Unreal/Unity and knowing these tools or is it based more loosely on what you thinks, hear, read? I’ve put in some 20hrs into dreams tutorials and even thou it’s very smart in its structure and “help” it still requires users to have the mindset and capabilities of handling and structuring a huge project with tons of aspects. I know very little of the other tools but Dreams has made me curious.

dietis_h1546d ago

yea, this guy is absolutely lucky.

wish him all the best.

I bet this game will start a lot of carers.

aaronaton1547d ago

Yeh there is a carer shortage in some countries tbf. The elderly just seem forgotten sometimes.

Newmanator1546d ago

Was thinking ‘is he serious or joking’ then I read the clincher haha

JackBNimble1546d ago

Don't you need to know how to code ?
What happens when you don't have the tools right in front of you ?

Maybe it's easy to make games, I honestly don't know the first thing about it.

S2Killinit1546d ago

Not everyone in development know how to code, there are those who are creative directors. So they come up with character designs for instance.

XxSPIDEYxX1547d ago

This is incredible. So happy that creators are getting the recognition they deserve.

"We've hired four people from the LBP community" reveals Alex Evans, co-founder of UK studio Media Molecule and creator of LittleBigPlanet.Mar 3, 2015"

This isn't new. Mm has actually hired people from LBP in the past. It's so cool that other companies are able to see how amazing some creators are

Father__Merrin1547d ago

Dreams on PS4 and ps5 is an important peice of software. No other platform has this. Can't wait to see sales of the first year of the ps5

sprinterboy1547d ago

I see dreams evolving for alot of playstation generations tbh.
Mm and Sony knew all along imo it wasnt just a game to play but to create themselves new employees for themselves and others.
I see some cool indie companies forming in the future tagging themselves to playstation for a game or 2

If there was one PC version that should have existed it’s Dreams

I’m super glad they will be going back to something more traditional gaming wise.

Cacabunga17d ago

I’m sure they’ll find something creative to implement like Tearaway on vita. What a gem 💎 that thing was!!!

Abear2117d ago

My dream was DreamsVR and creating landscapes, characters, and sculptures using that amazing toolbox in vr, that would have been something imo.

ocelot0717d ago

I thought It has vr support?

Amplitude17d ago

It did but it came out as an update LONG after the game was essentially dead

P_Bomb17d ago

Dreams PC was the dream. Woulda given the game a much needed boost. Here’s hoping they follow it up well.

phoenixwing17d ago

If sony had any sense they'd be making a pc version pronto

mkis00716d ago

They probably ran into the same problem they did with the potential of last of us factions....the support needed was just too much to consider expanding to more platforms for a smallish studio.

Abnor_Mal17d ago (Edited 16d ago )

I use to say this when the game was first releasing, many kept saying it would not be possible, something about the toolsets.

I said this was one game that needed to be on as many platforms as possible, including PC and Xbox just like how Minecraft is everywhere.

Goodguy0116d ago

Creation tools just don't work on console very well. It's definitely more suited for PC, and it's very odd Sony decided not to port it over. Good MM is working on an actual game instead.

Dreams Dev Media Molecule Says Layoffs Impact Planned Community and Curation Support

IGN writes: "Media Molecule has said the layoffs at the Sony-owned studio have affected plans for ongoing community and curation support in Dreams."

Inverno61d ago

How self sustained can DREAM be when it's basically stuck on PS4? I don't think it's even gotten a PS5 upgrade. Ending support for what is essentially a game making engine is basically death. SONY did DREAMS dirty.
