Happy for the small studios like this finding a bit of security.

The lump sum payment really is the only way for these subs to work, but some still believe it is based on some allotment of revenue or hours played. That's too similar to the nonsense Onlive tried to pull. I would hope devs aren't foolish enough to fall for that again...

I wouldn't be surprised if at least 1st party have bonuses tied to player counts, but the bonus for 3rd parties is probably just more negotiating power to renew the license agreement after the contract end at a higher price.

I wonder if all Game Pass deals are imilarly structured like this or is there wiggle room to make more money on the back-end for the developer if it's a higher profile title.

I read somewhere else that they get money upfront, plus a tiny bonus every time it is downloaded. I forget who stated it. But hopefully that upfront payment is worth it in this case.
