Can Bethesda Save Fallout 76?

Genuinely one of the worst games ever. I don't just mean gameplay wise, because there are obviously worse games to play out there. The controversy surrounding this game is ridiculous, I don't think I have ever seen so much controversy for one game before. Every few months there is something Bethesda does with the game that gains negative attention.

This game is a stain on Bethesda's reputation, a reputation they didn't really deserve in my opinion, and they will have a tough time getting people back on side.

Modern Bethesda is a stain on Bethesda's reputation. Fallout 76 is the cherry on the icing on the shit cake, but like you said, they got a free pass on alot of things for years.

Fallout 76's problems are too deep in the foundations to save it and I don't trust their future titles to restore faith either.

While it's definitely not unfair to say Bethesda got a free pass over the years, it's still a tad misleading. Sure Bethesda was always known for releasing somewhat buggy games. But those games were so fun and interesting that falling through the ground every once in a while, or seeing a corpse floating through the air wasn't much of a big deal.

76 is on a different level of bad. And Bethesda went through some ownership changes over the past 3-4 years and their entire company and outlook has taken a turn for the worse. They've joined the likes of EA in the sense that they would rather release unfinished games, and then charge money for micro-transactions. And then while the game is still in a terrible state, they release a $100 year long subscription?

Get out of here. Whether the old Bethesda released buggy games or not, it was no where near the amount of garbage the new Bethesda is pulling.

It's funny, I compared them to EA, but at this point I would actually put EA a half a step above Bethesda. Bethesda has bungled every step of the way with this game and on top of it, they are trying to charge their playerbase more money lol. Its insulting. At least with EA we can see slight differences in what they are doing. Their sports games are still the same garbage. But they did release Fallen Order and Modern Warfare was worlds better than the past years' versions. (EA is still a piece of trash company though, but at least they are STARTING to show signs of a POSSIBLE face turn. )

Yes, any game can be saved. It's just a matter of if they will succeed or not. But if games like FFXIV and No Man's Sky can be saved, so too can this. But this one I don't see happening honestly.

No Mans Sky problem was lack of content, the foundations of Fallout 76 just aren't there to rebuild effectively, it can get alot better, but there's an upper limit to what they can do for Fallout 76.

Again, I point you to other games, specifically FFXIV. They literally rebuilt EVERYTHING about the game, including the game engine...

So again, I say it can be done, because it can be.

seriously though, bethesda should have just spent the time to release a decent game. just a DECENT game at launch. at least then they could have fixed things and it would be in a good state by now. instead, they tried to piggyback off of a 15y/o engine that can’t be salvaged anymore. not only that, but their pr and general ideology of how they treat their consumers is atrocious. they took community feedback and turned it into microtransactions when the game was already failing. on top of that, they added an expensive, yearly, sub service when the game is still in a beta testing state lol
