Personally, I'll be using the old costumes on my playthrough. Don't really care for the redesign Carlos at all. I understand making him look a little more Latino but the dude looks like he has a live animal on his head, no thanks. That's one huge critique I have of these new RE's. I think they're taking a little too much liberties changing things that don't need to be changed. If you're making a remake, make the game as close as possible to the original.

I was excited about this game, but I was afraid they would take the worst aspect of RE2's remake, that was Mr. X, and make Nemesis a version of him that's even more annoying. From what I'm reading about the game, they did exactly that, making it the focus of the game... Now I'm thinking about waiting a few months until I can get a discount...

I agree there is nothing more annoying. Uncomfortable than playing a game against someone you can't kill. It's like Jason from friday 13 or Halloween character got in the game lol at least give us lot of bullets to stop him and make it fair. Not make us run like little b ashes. Like in silent hill 4 (or 3?) those ghosts character thay could only be stop woth special swords or something like that so annoying hence the game went downhill after that.

I am still playing re2 remake but it's soo mind consuming because idk if i should shot(waste most bullets) or run and save those bullets for a future encounter. In the police station level i hail part i was literally one time with no bullets and i literally dont missed most of the time and all headshots. And other part i was with no life running abd having to restart the game few times because of the game design making it so limited abd this playing it normal mode. Now in the other levels i just run if i can and let the zombies alive and kill them only if i have to. That gameplay makes the game less fun but i feel more secure and have enough bullets and plants to not need to restart the game many times because im on the limit.
There is no stealth in the game also. For such a limited ammo no at least give us stealth like in within the evil. Anyways it's a fun game i never finished on the pc ps1 or ps2 era but now i will i guess. But definitely thinking on skipping re3 i don't need such a stress on confronting unstoppable characters. Lol

Other game with very limited ammo and that was so annoying was metro exodus only last level made little sense been the way it was but other levels took the fun away when i see mutants everywhere but i couldn't confront them most of the time because if i did i would be without bullets for next encounter. This are in my personal opinion design errors that make the game less fun. This are military guys the kast thing they will be limited is on bullets no meter if its post apocalyptic place. Specially if its since there will be plenty of ammo if is a limited human's alive. Anyways hopefully this devs stop making this error just for the sake of fun and let those moments of limited ammo be in the game but when it makes sense and in a smart way.

I don't think you understand what "Survival Horror" is. This isn't an action game. It's a HORROR game where the focus is on making the player underpowered and always at a disadvantage. Meaning, very little resources like health, ammo, and weapons. Its SUPPOSED to be like that. Its purposely made that way to add tension to the player and force them to decide whether or not it's worth it to stand and fight, or better to run away.

I played through RE2 Remake one time and I didn't fire a single round into Mr X except for during boss encounters with him. The rest of the game, when he showed up, I simply ran away and went to the nearest save room, or room ran all the way around the building to get back to where I needed to go.

You specifically said RE2 is "mind consuming" as if it's a bad thing, because you are constantly having to make these tough decisions. Well guess what? That's the entire point of the Survival Horror genre. If a Survival Horror game ISN'T doing those things, then it is failing at its genre. It's not a "design error", as you claim.

It sounds like this genre is not for you and you should stick to straight action games that give you more ammo than you would ever need. Maybe Call of Duty is more your speed?

"or ran all the way around the building to get back to where I needed to go"
You really don't think that's annoying?

Dont confuse constructive criticism
with hate. Resident evil is great game but it could have been. It definitely harder than other game. I started the game in hard mode and because i didn't save right away i die and i was like i dont have time for this lol so i quick my second pass. And the time trails are so hard. Like you got to try it 50 times to get it perfect i try it like 15 and every time got farther but got frustrated because on how limited amo i got

Re has always been horror accion game. I dont mind a challenge i platinum bloodborne. What i dont like is having jason Borges following me whole game lol and only way to slow him down is by wasting most of the limited ammo i get to have. They need to give more hints or clue on what to do before things happen so i the player don't make a wrong decision of wasting bullets when he cant be killed. I mean i had to YouTube a lot to know what to do next . Any well done game will give us hints etf to no need to use google or YouTube or break our head thinking. Its called game design and they are failing at it it's 2020 . Hints can be easily implemented to guide us understand the game and what do to next if we miss it. Hence i think ps5 is including a feature to get help in games. Its about helping us make better decisions not about helping us cheap but about guiding us. Anyways i am playing days gone now and wow graphics and acting is soo good in the game history seem interesting kind of walking death vibes but i see what they mean when they say something is missing. But melee and shooting is really good. Visuals and acting seem good but i see it getting repetitive got a red dead redemption vibe to it but with bikes and zombies and that's cool. It just need more big accion set pieces. I mean spiderman infamous gta do it on open worlds . Maybe it has them i am barely starting the game .
And soon also will play within the evil 2 loved one. Sony has to go for that studio and buy them has main RE ip creator devs.

Imagine a co op game by the silent hill siren creator and rwcident evil and i thing also extermination and now Within the evil wow that will be epic.

What i dont understand is what happened to silent hills creator he went from siren to a silly indie type game. I dont understand why Sony hasn't give him a chance to create a new ip siren was way to creepy lol but amazing

"or ran all the way around the building to get back to where I needed to go"

No I wouldn't call it annoying. There's something cool about thinking your in a safe area with no enemies only have the big guy show up out of no where. And even of there are zombies they are hardly a threat. They are incredibly slow. It adds tension to the entire game. You never really know when he's going to pop up, so you never really feel safe outside of a save room.

And as for having to run around, it's a Survival Horror game. The entire game is based around backtracking and running around the entire building multiple times. It's not a big deal and it forces you to memorize where you're going so you don't end up running into a dead end.

RE2 got a ton of praise from critics and fans. It just sounds like this game isn't for you.

HectixTulip1598d ago

Hope it's got impactful changes to the storyline, something that resonates with the future re interactions and first encounter with the nemises should be memorable as the vanilla re3.

Lego games are always fun... and that is one I had not played before.

isarai73d ago

It's always the ine they leave out if the headline that interests me most 😅 DBZ Kakarot, been waiting for this to pop up on plus

Kyizen73d ago

I completely missed that DBZ Kakarot was in the group, I have midnight sons and RE3 so was kinda disappointed.

StormSnooper72d ago (Edited 72d ago )

Yea, it’s my last chance to play my childhood, now that he is gone. I’m watching way too many good anime at the moment to rewatch the series but this is the perfect excuse to visit that universe.

jznrpg73d ago

Never played Midnight Suns and probably won’t anytime soon but maybe someday. Pretty good month not great not horrible. I used to love sports games when I was a kid but that was before the monetization they went through and now I avoid them.

phoenixwing73d ago (Edited 73d ago )

Not all sports games are like that but ea and 2k games are definitely

DarXyde72d ago

Definitely give Midnight Suns a download if you've got Plus.

It's great.

phoenixwing63d ago

I agree midnight sun's is fun

Eonjay73d ago (Edited 73d ago )

Heard a lot of good things about Midnight Suns! Also looking forward to Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot and will probably download 2K24 as well.

LucasRuinedChildhood73d ago (Edited 73d ago )

Not a great month for me. Will give Midnight Suns a go.

I've never played Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier. Might give it a go although it's supposed to just be okay.

Never played a Phoenix Wright game before, so might try Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy.

SonyStyled73d ago

The Lost Frontier isn’t a true Jak and Daxter game. If you haven’t played them before I’d highly advise skipping The Lost Frontier and spending your time on the trilogy. The real Jak games are developed by Naughty Dog

LucasRuinedChildhood73d ago

I'm a big Jak & Daxter fan. Just not that into portables so I never picked this one up (didn't know there was a PS2 port when I was younger).

Resident Evil 3 Remake is one of the best RE games, actually

Resident Evil 3 Remake is one of the most debated games in Capcom’s survival horror series, but it’s just as good as the remake of Resident Evil and 2019’s RE2.

It’s a good game, but a terrible Remake.

I would choose the original over this Remake any day of the week. More areas, more enemies, more bosses, choice options, better unlockables, and I could go on and on.

If you go into this Remake as it’s own game and not compare it to what it’s, uh, Remaking, then yea it’s a solid game.

But I do not consider the Remake portion of this game to be “good,” like at all.

seanpitt23246d ago

The remake was inferior to RE2R in everyway capcom even said the B team made it the physics was so dumbed down it was such a big disappointment the A team that made RE2 was busy making RE4R

Walalon246d ago

And the whole idea of Nemesis "looking for you" was ripped off entirely making this Remake more than a knock off lol

solideagle246d ago (Edited 246d ago )

Didn't Capcom themselves
say the same thing that they will improve Quality and make Remake Lengthy or something along the same lines because RE3R was not received as good as RE2R critically

-Foxtrot246d ago

Not only that they literally snatched the RE4 off them and restarted development within the main team. That’s how bad the fallout was.

They tried to be cheap and it blew up in their face

It makes me super sad to think of how amazing RE3 could have been

We could have had hubs within the city to explore, to fully experience the Raccoon City downfall in all its glory…but they rushed it.

SyntheticForm246d ago

That boss fight on Inferno. Absolutely no.

GoodGuy09247d ago

Sure it was scripted quite a bit but I enjoyed it. Really good replayability as well.

Dandizzle246d ago (Edited 246d ago )

When I look back at re2 re4 and re4 remakes to which I beat all of them at launch. Re3 is the one I recall having more fun more of the time. Re2 and re4 get over stressful on harder difficulties.

Re4 remake was also great, but I liked re3 remake better

NovusTerminus247d ago

I can't comment on the "remake" aspect as I never played 3, didn't like tank controls even back then.

But as far as the remake goes as a game, I've got like 40 hours in it and played it far more then the 2 remake. I absolutely enjoyed the combat engine and dodge mechanic.

nommers246d ago

I gotta agree with the replay value of the game. Despite the cut areas it still feels like you’re going through more areas than RE2 remake. That and the Nemesis isn’t as annoying as the Tyrant.

BlackTar187246d ago

lol you can beat the game in under 3 hours on your first thorough and under 45 mins on your second without even trying to rush. The game has less content then some demos.

nommers246d ago

@BlackTar187

Don’t exaggerate so hard. You’ll live longer.

BlackTar187246d ago

If you look up playtime you can see most people beat it between 3-5 hours on the first playthrough and the trophy for sprinter which is beat the game in under 2 hours is a high percentage trophy compared to any other speed run trophies. So no I won’t change what I said. I’d wager with the infinite rpg you could get that even lower then 45 mins. My actual save says 57 mins

nommers246d ago

@BlackTar187

You can beat a lot of games in under 3 hours as a speed runner. Who cares.

Average time play through says about 6 hours, but for full completion it says 20 1/2 hours. First time through for me I took my time and took about 8 hours. Then again I’m not trying to race through the game. That’s about the same time for RE2 remake for a first time through, which even with multiple paths doesn’t have much extra content outside any given run.

4 was great... but missed some things. But still, the RE remakes have been some of the best remakes.

anast273d ago

2 was good, but 3 and 4 were phoned in. I suppose 1 out 3 successes is the new standard. This is why publishers get away with so much.

Babadook7265d ago

All were good. None were phoned in.
