Exactly, they leave out Bloodborne, but put Persona5. Granted it is an exclusive but there were other first party games that could have taken that slot like Bloodborne or Uncharted2, or even a PSVR game Blood & Truth.

RazzerRedux1588d ago

Disagree. Persona 5 was a phenomenal exclusive. It is as deserving to be on that list as Bloodborne, imo

Abnor_Mal1588d ago

@RazzerRedux Honestly I was only thinking about first party games. When I made the comment I actually had Until Dawn listed but then removed it as it was not made by a first party studio.

Then after I posted, I thought would a game like Until Dawn be worthy of the list because it was published by Sony so it would not appear anywhere else. Although we've seen that's not always the case with recent exclusives making their way to PC, Heavy Rain and the other two for example. I believe they all had Sony as a publisher.

I don't know if Sony is the publisher of Persona5 or is the game a full on third party exclusive. Will it eventually make it's way to other platforms like Yakuza now on XBox platforms?

Anyway that was the reasoning behind my comment, and I respect your opinion.

RaidenBlack1588d ago

Uncharted 2 came out in 2009, so can't include

RazzerRedux1588d ago

@Abnor_Mal

It is all good man. Bloodborne is highly regarded and has many fans so I'm just as surprised as you that it didn't make their list. I'm just a Persona 5 fanboy. :)

Abnor_Mal1588d ago

@RaidenBlack Okay Unchated2 is too old but Uncharted3 came out 2011, so it could be included.

@RazzerRedux lol look at that, you're a Persona5 fanboy and I'm a Bloodborne fanboy.

Now here's another question if Persona5 and Bloodborne are both worthy to be on this list of top 10 games of the decade, which game would you remove from the list, and why. I already gave my reasoning for Persona5. If both stay then I would have to say remove Ratchet as it was a remake with limited changes, but then again so was Shadow of the Colossus. Head scratcher.

Imalwaysright1588d ago

Sony doesn't own FromSoftware. Bloodborne isn't a 1st party game.

Abnor_Mal1588d ago (Edited 1588d ago )

@Imalwaysright I believe Bloodborne was co developed with Japan Studio. I also read that Sony went to From Software with a rough outline of Bloodborne after they realised they messed up with Demon's Souls and not really backing it when first released. Then after Dark Souls because a phenomenon Sony when to From with tail between legs, so to speak.

Well I believe that was what was stated in an Old Game Informer Magazine which featured the game on its cover before release. Unfortunately I don't have that magazine anymore to say which issue.

From Wikipedia:
"Development of Bloodborne began as development was being completed on the Prepare to Die edition of Dark Souls, released in August 2012. Sony Computer Entertainment approached FromSoftware concerning cooperative development on a title, and director Hidetaka Miyazaki asked about the possibility of developing a game for eighth-generation consoles. The concept of Bloodborne developed from there. There were no connections to FromSoftware's previous titles, even though Miyazaki conceded that it "carries the DNA of Demon's Souls and its very specific level design".[44] Development ran parallel to that of Dark Souls II."

RazzerRedux1588d ago

@Abnor_Mal

I'd have to say Ratchet as well. Love the game, but not top 10 considering its competition.

Imalwaysright1587d ago

That's right, Sony went to FromSoftware because of the talent that can only be found in that studio. A studio that isn't owned by Sony. Bloodborne (just like Demon's Souls) is FromSoftware's baby or more specifically Miyazaki's baby and we all know it.

Abnor_Mal1587d ago

@@imalwaysright okay I see by your name I pulled a string, but that's what scissors are for.

Imalwaysright1587d ago

The only thing you did was to prove my point: "Sony went to From Software"

If you go to Sony's Bloodborne page it will say this:

"Publisher: SCEA
Developer: FromSoftware, Inc."

https://www.playstation.com...

Since the developer isn't owned by Sony, then it isn't a 1st party game and so aren't any of the Ratchet games because Sony didn't own Insomniac when they were developed.

mav8051587d ago

Persona 5 is the game of the generation, but agree, Bloodborne should have been on the list and is considerably better than most of the others listed.

cyber_daemonx1587d ago

@imalwayswrong, Demon's Souls and Bloodborne are PlayStation ip's owned by Sony no matter how you try to spin it.

Gotta go with God of War.

I really enjoyed most of the PS4 exclusives this gen, but I really cherished God of War.

bluefox7551588d ago

Sony exclusives have won the most GOTY awards 3 out of the last 4 years.

ClayRules20121588d ago

Yep, for good reason! Sony’s got some of the absolute best talent in the world working in all of their studios.

Asuka1588d ago

Very unpopular opinion here but my favorite(s) would be Gravity Rush and the sequel. I really enjoyed those games and it's charm.

RazzerRedux1588d ago

Gravity Rush was very underrated. I haven't gotten around to the sequel yet.

bouzebbal1587d ago

Loved the first one, perfect for vita.. Second one is somehow better in content but gameplay not so engaging..

The Wood1588d ago (Edited 1588d ago )

Completed that. Its a unique game often overlooked. You've given me an itch to go back and complete all the extras

The Death Of Arkham Has Me Worried About Spider-Man

Saad from eXputer: "After the rise of Rocksteady and its fall with post-Suicide Squad, I'm worried about Marvel's Spider-Man suffering a similar fate."

Hofstaderman37d ago

Why? According to the well publicized Insomniac leaks they have a slew of plans for Spiderman including its sequel.

CrimsonWing6937d ago

The sequel has had rumors that it could be sold piecemeal style or might be GaaS.

https://youtu.be/XCFr3KRB9G...

This is all coming from the leaks you mentioned. The problem is the industry is not doing well no matter how ill-informed people spin it on here when they see “sold 3 mill.” In those Sony leaks it showed the struggle to get ROI and they spend an insane amount of money to develop, which makes 0 sense to me when there’s not much to show for the increased development costs. Case in point would be Suicide Squad vs Arkham Knight.

I believe we’re in the middle of seeing a drastic change in media and distribution. This goes for movies, but more so for games and the industry is scrambling to figure out how to get more money out of consumers rather than stick to the “buy it once” to play it all.

https://www.gamesindustry.b...

https://www.theverge.com/20...

These are things you need to pay attention to in order to know which direction the wind’s blowing with this sh*t storm. I was almost certain the GaaS initiative was killed when Jim was leaving, but now seeing the success of Helldivers 2… I’m thinking we’re in for a bumpy ride. I just don’t know what that looks like yet, but I don’t think it’s gonna be pretty.

anast37d ago (Edited 37d ago )

Insomniac still has a good generation left in them before they get cannibalized by investors. It'll probably happen around the mid PS6 gen, when we see the beginning of the fall.

dmonee37d ago

Huh with this article? If Sony and Insomniac want to abandoned the Spider-Man franchise and make a half baked, live service Spider-Man game, and miss the mark with their fans, then God bless’em!!!!

37d ago
JimmyDM9036d ago

Seems unlikely when they abandoned the GaaS spiderverse game but are still going ahead with single player games like Wolverine and Spider-Man 3.
