STALKER 2 Is Powered By Unreal Engine

GSC Game World announced today that they’re using Unreal Engine to develop STALKER 2. In the announcement tweet, the developer explained that they’ve chosen Unreal because they feel it’s a good fit for they kind of game they’re trying to make and also because it will make it easier to support mods.

I so am looking forward to this game.

I do wonder if it might be smart to remake the original versions and bring them out on PS5 and Xbox Series X, so GSC can turn a quick profit. I personally want to see the sequel more, but if they can contract a remake out to someone else, I can see that being a benefit for the company and make it so S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 doesn't get delayed for the remake.

Be good to get new gamers on board for sure releasing the 1st one.
Stalker, half life 2 and doom 3 were the game bk then which got me into pc rigs and building ultra settings pc, remember sli x2 gfx cards if I remember correctly when sli was new, £1,500 on 2 gtx cards at the time and a ball ache setting them up together lol.
Edit: btw it's old news, we knew it was unreal engine half way through 2019.

Mmmmm, Unreal usually doesn't handle open words very well without some heavy alterations to the engine, and i usually like STALKER's proprietary engine. Hopefully it works out and isn't a setback. Lookin forward to seeing more though!

I'm sure GSC would of tested the engine to see if it fits with their vision for Stalker, either way very interested to see how this goes (Stalker with all the mods is still great).

Stalker is a series that always deserved more commercial success. They always planned to do ports to console but for some reason it never happened. Cool games though that still hold up pretty well

Maybe because of all of the trouble they ended up facing (even so far as to having shut up shop for years), plus it was buggy enough on the PC (not sure how the older consoles would coped) and needed a lot of top hardware (at the time).

Why is it always such a big deal when someone uses unreal engine? i don't get it. Is it like the Gucci of game engines?
It just sounds like such a buzz word to me and it bothers me a bit lol. Like why should it matter

Because it's prepped for next gen, supports all platforms, and is apparently somewhat easy to modify to suit your needs, so third party and indie devs can really get a lot of mileage out of it.
