It's funny to think this game wasn't going to be a disappointment.

Terry_B1599d ago

It not a disappointment at all, Shenmue 3 is great.

Smitty20201599d ago

i agree with u, i do think if u were born in that generation like me u would enjoy it but i am an old boy :P

boing11599d ago

I concur. Young gamers do not understand what it means to legacy players.

FinalAeonX1599d ago (Edited 1599d ago )

I'd say Death Stranding. Watch Dunkey's review and you'll see what I mean. He perfectly sums up my qualms with the game and Kojima himself.

Elda1599d ago

Death Stranding is a good game.

MadLad1599d ago

It's definitely interesting.

Some in this comment section:
"Shenmue 3 is a disappointment because it isn't like Yakuza/Judgment/other modern title, even though it's its own unique series with its own style and gameplay."
"Death Stranding is not a disappointment because it's its own thing and is unique."

I know that's roughly what some of you bullshitters are thinking ;-)

Rynxie1598d ago

Yakuza and Judgement are spiritual successors of Shenmue. You can try to hide yourself away in your safe space all you want, it still won't change that fact. Shenmue 1 & 2 were flawed, but great games for its time. This isn't 2002. There's new standards. Sega evolved the genre Shenmue started. Shenmue always had a realistic feel. From character design to environments. Shenmue 3 is very cartoony, some characters look bad to hideous. Gameplay mechanics are out of date. It's still stiff and robotic. Some choices were goofy. Like when you walk with Shenhua to her village. One second, you're talking and walking, another second, you stand still and talk and then, the next second walk and talk (and repeat). Yu should have went with the Yakuza studio. Shenmue 3 would have been a million times better.

I played Judgement and beat it recently, many aspects of the game reminded me of Shenmue. I was hoping Shenmue 3 would be along the lines of Judgment.

I budge and bought Shenmue 3 today for $29.99 and it's Shenmue alright. It isn't too bad overall.

CDbiggen1598d ago

Ugh. That is all you deserve.

King_Noctis1598d ago

I love Death Stranding, but I understand why some people did not. Slower-paced games don’t exactly attract your average gamers.

It was never a good game. Cant believe it took people that long to realize it. Yakuza is the new king of this type of game and Shenmue is dead. No one wants a part 4 cause this one sold horribly.

SegaGamer1599d ago

Another person who obviously hasn't played both. Their similarities are minimal at best. Also, like I have said many times in the past, if they were similar, why can't they both exist? There are plenty of first person shooters that are the same, I don't ever see people like yourself saying we don't need them because there is another game like it.

MadLad1599d ago

So both aren't a Japan simulator; offering a lot of random side content, in between fighting? Their design is highly similar. Just Yakuza, you know, feels competent in 2019.

SegaGamer1599d ago

@TheRealTedCruz

Yakuza is an action game, Shenmue is an adventure game. They are games from two different genres.

Razmiran1599d ago

I mean, you cant say Shenmue is a Japan simulator when in 2 out of 3 games you are in China

MadLad1598d ago (Edited 1598d ago )

@sega

The literal only difference in design is the combat, itself; and only slightly. One's based on Tekken combat, the other is a "beat-em-up", relying still heavily on combos and a more in-depth fighting system. Other than that, the games are almost 100% similar.

@Raz

My complete and utter apologies. I haven't played the games since I was literally 15 years old. I'm 28 now.

King_Noctis1598d ago

“ Also, like I have said many times in the past, if they were similar, why can't they both exist?”

As long as both have high quality, I have no qualms with that. But it isn’t the case right here.

I never thought Shenmue 1&2 was interesting to play when it was released 2 gens ago & when I saw the trailer for the 3rd installment it looked just like the original far as the graphics just in hd. There are folks that genuinely like the game for what it is & that's ok,like they say...different strokes for different folks.

Never say never, I really didn't expect to ever see Space Marine 2 and 12 years later its almost here.
So there is still hope for all these games.

Chocoburger96d ago

I've completed 5 of the games on the list, but the author forgot to include Advent Rising. It was supposed to be a trilogy, but it bombed hard, and the two sequels never got made. It was Mass Effect, a console generation before Mass Effect.

The game is buggy and unpolished, it needed a few more months of development, but the potential was there. At the end of the game, you have all these super abilities, I remember the stomp attack that created a shockwave being especially powerful.

shinoff218396d ago

I personally think days gone will recieve some sort of sequel at some point. I'm personally also hoping it's not the rumored multiplayer online stuff. I'd think most that enjoyed it would rather thisnto.

Knightofelemia96d ago

Sony needs to dust off Sly Cooper and Days Gone so needs a sequel two of my favorite Sony titles. Bulletstorm I love great game wish it also got a sequel. And I wish Namco would finally give Enslaved a sequel another great game.

Dragon's Dogma and XCOM 2 are the best deals. The rest of the games are still overpriced. I would say 8.99 is good for AC: Origins, but you need to put $10 more into MTs to avoid the grind that slows down the story. So, the game is actually 18.99.

It's not on this list, but Pathfinder: Kingmaker is only $9.99. This is a deal if you have a current gen. consoles, as it runs poorly on prev. gen.

hangdang708d ago

I beat AC origins without grinding or spending any money on MTX?

anast708d ago

I had to grind for side missions. So, did many other people.

HeliosHex708d ago

Has anyone been able to login in to the ps store on ps5 I haven't been able to in days and my network is good.

RedDevils708d ago

Reset or shutdown your PS5. I always can go login to PS5, in fact just a moment ago.

HeliosHex707d ago

Hey thanks again. Although the shutdown/reset didn't work i found that resetting the mdm and hub did the trick. I use a Lan network instead of wifi. In case anyone has a similar setup and problem.

RedDevils707d ago

I forgot to mention about the router reset, that usually do the trick when it come to network problems happen with iphone/android. btw np
