From IGN: "2K has announced a new BioShock game is officially in the works at a newly formed internal studio, Cloud Chamber. However, don't expect this new game in the near future.
Cloud Chamber is a new studio, with locations in both Novato, California and Montreal, Quebec, headed by Kelley Gilmore, who has worked at 2K's Firaxis Games for nearly two decades in various capacities on Sid Meier's Civilization and XCOM."
One of the most popular video game franchises of all time is set to receive a Netflix film adaptation, according to an announcement on Tuesday afternoon.
Gee...can't wait to see how many things they change and stray away from, oh don't forget the miscast actors
I have such high hopes because the first game is so near and dear to me. That being said, I'm sure they will mess it up. I'm hoping it's adult rated, and violent. I want to see a Big Daddy put that drill to good use :P
They're great at butchering stuff but there have also been some gems and surprises.
I never in my life thought I'd like a series based on League of Legends but it was pretty great.
Maybe just maybe they'll do Bioshock justice.

Damn! It sure sucks when white men aren't the sole focus of everything! Why can't these fringe groups be kept on the fringes like the good ole days?!? /s
Netflix did well with Dare Devil and the Punisher and I hear the Witcher is pretty good I know when I had Netflix at the time Stranger Things was also good. But Bioshock I love the franchise Bioshock Infinite is my favorite game I would pay the $21 Canadian just to check out Bioshock. Normally I would never renew my Netflix after they did their price hike but Bioshock would be worth it.
When firing on all cinders, Netflix do produce some brilliant stuff so I am not feeling pessimistic at all here. If Netflix deliver to their potential then this could be incredible given the quality of the source material. Personally, I am quite excited.
Agreed, Netflix originals etc are fantastic in general, it's rare I don't like something they do.
Certainly not feeling negative with Netflix doing bioshock quite the opposite infact.
Bu bu bu bu but what about Cowboy Beebop though? That was a little miss opportunity. Just a little nervous that Bioshock could turn to crap 💩 like that show. If they do a Horizon Zero Dawn show, I hope they don’t screw that up as well. I know a few good actresses that could play Aloy like Jon Snow’s girlfriend from Game of Thrones, and his wife in real life. Definitely see Aloy in her.
Netflix does a lot of great things, recently finished the first season of Arcane and it was brilliant.
Arkane was so damn good.
I just hope they keep up the quality with later releases.
I'm not even a LoL player.
I’m sure they will, I don’t play the games either, I love the fact that I didn’t need to play them to enjoy it.
Arcane was insanely good imo, I was hooked almost all the way. Im not sure of this but i think Netflix didnt have much to do with the production of the show? More like they just bought the rights to have it exclusively on there?
Some of their original shows are really good so im quite hopeful this might turn out to be a good show. Lets hope they wont F it up.
Love Bioshock but I'll prepare myself for the likelihood this will be both crap and a pale imitation of the source material. That covers most video game adaptations and Netflix films.
I meant Netflix films in general, there are some good ones but most are average at best in my experience. Castlevania is good but I didn't like The Witcher, although it is successful.
Not sure if there are any live action video game film adaptations on Netflix as yet but they don't have a great track record.
@ Nacho
For movies, I think it’s very difficult to cram he narrative from a 10+ hour game into 2 hours. I think that’s why series are much better suited for video game adaptations. Seems we have a bunch coming up, so we’ll see how well it plays out.
Has the potential to be great but Netflix can't help themselves so it will demonstrate the triumph of Marxism over the greedy racist individual.
YES! To this day I feel like the first bioshock was a masterpiece. They NEED to bring back that psychological twist, it MADE the game for me, literally had me in awe at how well voiced and executed this game was.
Point of these games is to escape the need of the flat film format. The experience was already conveyed and it was amazing (it's too bad some viewers will not know these experiences). Now to make it palatable, a director and crew that have no association with the IP or the heart-driven creative process are going to splatter their nonsensical "what works for them" bs into it by casting what sells and bring to a bigger audience. Shi7 like the uncharted movie. That casting and retelling seems completely unnecessary, but it is for certain audiences, and I am not that audience. My format is the game.
Great premise, the story is pretty much laid out for them. Saying that, they will probably miss cast and bludgeon the lore and plot which we know and love.
MK Legacy was nice but it was low budget and pretty pretty short. The first movie however was just flawless
Netflix has put out some great stuff. Just Ozark for instance is one of, if not my favorite show of all time. Money Heist was very good. I haven't watched The Witcher. I like that genre of games, and movies. I just don't want to watch a series, in that category. Maybe one day I will check an episode out.
Well if anyone can do it justice I'm confident it's Netflix. They nailed the Witcher in my opinion! At least it's not going to be some big budget over bloated crap fest like 99% of Hollywood makes out of game franchises.
I can see it now big daddies will be called protectors, little sisters will be little ones that are all gender ambiguous. Elizabeth will be a purple haired Brolic man hating person named Liz. Andrew Ryan will be Asian and named Andrew Chang. Splicers will be a diverse cast of hipsters. The hero Jack will be a gay black man. Awesome.
GamesRadar - "While specifics of where and when this new BioShock game will take place are light (although you could certainly interpret Cloud Chamber's logo as a potential setting tease), we got to speak with Gilmore about what this next chapter might look like in the hands of her talented team."
Having no online would guarantee an amazing single player campaign, I couldn't agree more, a giant epic single player campaign and then sprinkle on some DLC somewhere down the line and ill be ok.
This is exciting and congrats to her for being the first female to lead a studio at 2k.
The Brzail Advisory Rating Board has rated “BioShock: The Collection” for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
There's no point in the upcoming BC version if they are porting it. This is fake.
The point is, that some gamers already have the games and dont need to buy the collection. So it makes all the sense in the world the MS makes those available via backwards compatible.
But even with the BC on the X1 version there is still the 37 million PS4 fanbase.
For me. I have the games already. am not really into remakes. BC is perfect for me. If I can spare the time I will replay them.
Do your research. Borderlands 2 and pre sequel were the ports, Borderlands 1 is BC.
Man your narrow minded did you just assume that no one would play it over again? Did you also assume that everyone in the world who owns a console played those games last gen?
Smh.
Havin BC doesn't mean you own the game also havin BC doesn't mean the game is running at a better frame rate or better resolution. Buddy this is business 101 what's so sad about this is that most gamers have no clue about business even slightly they seem to have this strange self-centred narrow-minded view on intellectual properties as in they purchased it several years ago, thus Any new release is pointless.
do you really honestly believe you're never going to see a 8k version of Titanic because you own a VHS version of it? What does that actually have to do with the company restoration or remastering the product?
The supply will exist because the demand exist last I heard Bioshock didn't go on to do 200 million units so it's very likely someone didn't play it, thus there is a supply to feed the demand. Read the comments someone will absolutely buy it to cover its restoration cost.
If the publishers see themselves making more money off a remaster, or whatever this is since it seems to be cross gen, they may not support BC. Been over 3 months since the announcement, so maybe they already have.
Not saying that's likely, but I could see people picking up the hopefully upressed version for the current gen, and others buying the collection for older systems, and bundles on PC aren't that unheard of.
That being said, this is for Brazil, and maybe they're BC list is much less spectacular then what we in the US have, so maybe they just won't have access to it on the X1 otherwise.
Otherwise, it doesn't render the BC version useless, nor does it diminish the desire some people would have for a new bundled release. Just means more choice for X1 owners.
The industry does not revolve around backwards compatibility in an Xbox console, nor does the world revolve around Xbox consumers. Thus, it makes sense that they would release this with a view to make money with enhanced versions of the games on a number of different platforms.
Especially so, if 2K have another BioShock game planned.
FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And it includes 2 which is amazing.
I wonder if there will be adjustments at all. Like adding 2 handed to the original, or save anywhere to Infinite.
Never too much much Bioshock! (well at least the first two)
They better do a good job remastering it would be suck to see it ended up like Prototype...
i hope we also get a mass effect trilogy for ps4 and xbox one
and R* should get bluepoint to do red dead redemtpion and bully remaster for ps4 and xbox one
You got that right. This is pretty much the only remaster left that I truly care about, and definitely the game(s)that I was most hopeful for, considering Bioshock 1 is my all time favorite game, and Infinite is top 10 for me.
I only played the 1st game of the series (enjoyed it a lot back in the day). Were the other games just as mysterious and interesting?
@Kingdomcome247
The original Bioshock is a masterpiece, in my opinon. I hope this collection comes to fruition.
@thekhurg
They were. Bioshock infinite was convoluted but still a really great game, in my opinion.
I wonder if the PS4/XBone version has been tweaked or if its a straight up port from last gen...
The ps4 version better be 1080p @60fps like metro redux (excellent remasters btw) otherwise it's a lazy port and I ain't buying.
It'll probably have some improvements. However, since this bundle seems cross-gen as opposed to a straight up remaster, it's too soon to tell how significant that will be. Could not even be a real thing too...which would be heartbreaking, because I'd love to revisit the games in better quality. When I played the 1st two, I had kind of a crappy TV, so the dark environments weren't the best for me.
They are coming to Backwards Compatibility for X1. And there is usually a sale for them where each of them costs like 2,50. I wait for a sale
I hope it is real... Not like last time. And now a Mass Effect Collection, and life is good
^^
BioShock and Mass Effect are the two remasters that I need .. any other remasters are purely optional
Uhh Microsoft has already promised BC versions of all 3 BioShock games, this is fake until it's officially announced.
Uhh Microsoft has no say on whether or not 2K can release remasters of their own games. BC doesn't take priority over someone else's IP, let alone someone else's platforms.
Bundle on PC seems useless too, since it's already available. Seems rather decent for PS4 owners too. Maybe for the X1 it's just for those that don't have the game, or would prefer what would likely be an improved version. If BC versions are good enough for you, then that's great. Let others enjoy the moment.
Plus it's been three months since MS announced the X1 BC for these games, so maybe the publisher backed out in lieu of wanting to sell the game instead...which would actually suck...but 2K hasn't exactly been all about BC to date.
Another guy who think the world revolves around Microsoft and the Xbox One.
SMDH.
Yes plz be ture! I so want to play them again on 1080P at 60FPS with all DLC included. It also tell me that if it were to happen a new bioshock game is in the works or might get a reaveal at this year E3.
I'm going to effing cry .. I'm sorry but I just absolutely love this series and was so hoping the rumors were true last year
I hope it's no more than $29.99. You could grab all three on PC in December for like $12. And play with ultra settings 2k/60fps pretty easily.
Im done with remasters.. Ill get remakes/reboots but not a facelift for games i bought before.. I got a couple like Tomb Raider & TLOU but thats it for me.
Please tell me your joking, both of those games were "facelifed" whilst the originals were still selling strong lol
Joking about what? Me not buying anymore remasters? No, im not joking about that.. Theres been plenty of them and im sure people who switched over and never had a chance to play certain games will appreciate them, but i wont be buying them anymore.. Current gen should be in full effect by now with new games & not remasters.. Ill consider it if theyre $30 or so and i never played it, but if i already own the game, im not buying it again..
Please let his be true, I have been waiting for this collection as they are probably my most loved have series.
I don't care about backwards compatible, I would like to see a proper remaster. Loved the first two......Infinite, not so much.
The developer who made the series doesn't exist anymore. So don't expect anything other than a bundled collection... if that.
What's the developer have to do with a remaster? 2K is the publisher and they can get whoever they want to do a remaster so give your head a shake.
2K still has the franchise right, so it's not unreasonable to assume something may come down the line. Bundles such as this often are precursors to an announcement...although that may be wishful thinking so soon after Irrational shut down and Ken Levine saying that no other BS game was in the works.
They need to port more classic PC games to 8th gen consoles , like all the DOOM , Quake , Unreal games.
Well, there's Doom 3 BFG Efition on PS3 and 360, and it comes with some pretty good ports of both Doom 1 and 2.
Xbox One could probably play it through backwards compatibility, but the PS4... Not so much.
Consoles need their own games not remaakes and remasters. Gaming is becoming Hollywood, let's remake everything. I mean bioshock is a great game but is a remastered collection needed? It's a waste of time that should be going towards a new game.
Then only a few remakes and remaster are even worth it, so yeah Im against this bulshit practice that's becoming the norm this generation.
That's my opinion but how about the gaming industry work on making complete games and stop pulling content for dlc later.
Hell yeah. Get this collection out, get our mouths watering for more, then drop a new bioshock announcement at E3 for us.
Bioshock infinite is the one and only remaster I would ever have any interesting in. The game was absolutely amazing and one of the best ever but it looked horrible on the PS3.
The original Bioshock looked too clinical , too sharp, on the PS3. Once the PS3's Cell engine had been got to grips with, Bioshock Infinite looked faultless on PS3.
Word of advice, don't go paying full retail price just for Infinite, cause the gameplay is so dumbed down from its predecessors that it barely feels like a Bioshock game.
I will try either get it digitally separate, or a lend off a friend, I would never do such a thing! xD
I completed Infinite a few months ago and thought it was a blast. A little different than the underwater feel from the first two, but definitely still in the same spirit.
I just bought all three of them on PC... and now they are getting remastered. Are you serious?
On PC you can still play it on higher settings, so remasters aren't as important. Plus, this is just a bundle collection, nothing about being remastered as of yet, although it's safe to assume that it'll likely be improved for current gen consoles. PS3/360 versions will likely be the same as they were last gen when they also had a bundle for BS1/2.
Higher setting is in respect to hardware that was available at that time, so for the first Bioshock it's almost 10 years old hardware. Don't get me wrong, game still looks amazing for it's time, but the version that may have improved textures is undeniably better.
I love this series as it shows just how to incorporate great fps gameplay and excellent storytelling.
I have them all on PC. It will be interesting to see the changes that they implement for the console re-releases. I hope it stacks up well.
Yes, yes, yes and yes! While I beat the first two, I never got a chance to play Infinite. Though, I would love to play the first and second game with a next gen makeover. I was hoping for this remake, cant wait to play it!
Bioshocks are worth the remaster. Even the first one was scaled back quite a bit from the PC version; Infinite is like night and day. I always thought they should release it on the next-gen as Infinite was a really pretty game on PC and had a lot of extra bells and whistles that weren't added to the console version due to obvious reasons. They're are a lot of remakes that just up the resolution and framerate and that's it; these games would have better texture, shadowing, post-processing, etc...it's a no brainer.
They're remastered? How much more can than be remastered when compared to the PC versions on their max settings?
Why? They're games that have been played to death by now. I own these games on 360 and PC. Can we get more new games and less last gen games please?
ive been wAitin for this ohhh the screenshots@! this and red dead remaster and that will be amazing
I'll buy when the bundle is $20 or less on ps4
I have them on ps3, haven't played 2 and barely played infinite. I know they'll all look amazing on ps4 though.
It better come with all the DLC though. Bioshock Infinite has my absolute favourite shooting mechanics in any FPS (in my opinion). It's a mixture of both oldschool and newschool FPS gunplay
I could see a MS deal already, Buy the remaster and get the BC versions free. Just like they did with Gears. Count me in.
jon, the article said "The BioShock series consists of BioShock, BioShock 2, and BioShock Infinite." Please, oh please tell me where in the article it said BioShock 4. I read it quite a few times (its not that big of a story) and no where did it mention BS4. I think you were not paying attention to the article & too busy smoking your dank.
Look at the headline right at the top before the read the whole story it saids bioshock the collection rated for ps4 Xbox one pc PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 the Brazil advisor rating board has rated bioshock the collection and than it repeats what's it for than we have after it names what it's on than we got bioshock bioshock 2 bioshock infinite than it has bioshock 4 4 pc ps 3 ps 4 the bioshock collection Xbox 360, Xbox one than it saids read story mabe I was wrong and it might be real but the person who put up the article in the first place put bioshock 4 in their with the collection and maybe that's why I thought it was fake but I was pointing out none the less there was no 4 and he had a 4 in the collection
I will have more remakes/remasters, please. BC on Xbox One for me is waste of time. Not worth my attention. Zero achievements since ive played the games I wanted on x360.
Remakes/remasters is much better with 1080p (some have 60 FPS) with all DLC included, yes I will continue to buy those. Next up Red Dead Redemption please!
I've never played any Bioshock game ever. So I am very pleased if this turns out to be true. Will buy and finsih all of them. I also hope they realese a Mass Effect Trilogy as I never played them either... I know i know... what's wrong with this bum :D
I have all of them on Xbox 360.......I'd still rather have them all Remastered than using them on Xbox One with BC. Can't we just have both, or is it an imortal sin?
Interesting. Here's to hoping it's closer in tone and mechanics to the originals, and not Infinite. Good game in most regards, but didn't feel like Bioshock.
Wonder if they'll do a new location or return to Rapture.
Yes! I’m sold already.
Awesome, now comes the waiting game. Excited for a new BioShock though.
This is great news ! Even if it IS far too premature
