Google’s early failure doesn’t have to mean the end of the road for video game streaming.

I hate it but I do see games being delivered like this as a standard in the future. But with most IP's data caps Its just not a justifiable buy in this day and age. More and more 4K tv sets are being bought and people want to experience that, but not at the cost of risking a higher net bill for going over their cap.

They can just go for the offline version of 4k gaming, game streaming has to be rewarding financially and in terms of convenience. not just one or the other.

I prefer physical media, but I’m not ignorant I know which way the future of games will go in, it’s just now isn’t the time for it.

I don't think it will be the standard in the future. Hardware isn't all that expensive right now and will get cheaper in the future but network stuff will always have lag.

It's not a failure. It's just not a success either.

But burning hot hardware, no exclusives, gamers not getting codes, etc, sure isn't helping it.

Hopefully now, Google with their dumb pricing setup, arrogant power bragging but nothing to back it up, all the known and unknown influencers hiding or making shilling excuses for the crashing and burning of the launch, will learn that it's not so easy to break into the console business.

They just gave every supporter of native console gaming a Cheshire Cat smile and Joker laugh.

Gaming streaming is a cool thing. Just don't make us pay for it or shoddy setups that kill ownership.

At least wait for the first year before calling it a failure … I only tried it on my browser because my buddy gave me his log in and its actually really good far better than my experience with all the other streaming services...some games most people would not be able to tell the difference...its kind of shameful that the media has went on full on toxic this year in the industry..mostly the US Gaming Media.

But the tech, regardless of investment, should be more, better, developed before being offered commercially. Customers should not have to carry the burden and inconvenience of getting it to a working level, especially when its end goal removes consumer rights.

It's far from dead it just launched. People shouldn't underestimate Google. The service will get better.
But I don't think I will ever feel the need to subscribe.

People shouldn't overestimate google either. They are well known to drop things quickly if they aren't working out. I doubt they'll drop this sooner rather than later given how much they've invested in it, and likely the fact they knew it wouldn't be a huge money maker out of the gate, but it doesn't mean that they'll just get better because people hope it will. Google may not care about getting better. They may just care about having enough users to make money, and there may be enough users out there where they can ignore the naysayers and people who don't have good experiences, but if you look at Google services, most of them do not improve over time, they actually seem to go to great effort to make things worse....especially after they become entrenched in the market without much competition.

Ok enough is enough. There is a blatant and obvious smear campaign going on against Stadia for reasons I do not know. Stadia has NOT failed, it’s literally been out for three days, THREE DAYS. I have been loving my experience so far. It looks great, plays great and being able to click purchase and start playing right away is mind blowing. The tech IS the future whether whiny youtubers and journalists want to believe it or not.

Well unless they fix the issues with Stadia the negative press won't stop. The service has alot of issues and it really should have been delayed to iron it out.

Well...here's the reason.

1. The gaming community isn't overly excited about Stadia.
2. Google released a product that is problematic, and they've botched the release, even for the early adopters who pre-ordered.
3. Google hasn't even delivered on half their promises for the service.
4. It's costly
5. Gaming press knows that people upset with something tend to click articles. Since people want to be upset with google, we get a "smear campaign". That smear campaign doesn't mean that the current failings of Stadia are negligable or don't exist. A smear campaign usually indicates that a false narrative is being generated for the specific purpose of ruining a thing, but in this case, Stadia just kind of sucks.

Speaking for myself, but i rather have a PC or console and just download the game. I would never want to stream a game. In the event I want to play something on the road I have no issues using my phone to play games. I like playing the simple games on my phone, and playing the more demanding games on a PC or console at home. Streaming is not for me, and definitely not with the paying model google implemented. Wow I couldn't believe it when I read it. I have to pay a subscription to buy games lol WTF is that???? There's absolutely no way any of us should support that type of paying model. It can ruin us big time in the future.

Just to add. EA access pay a $29 a year, and here you go play these games. No added cost. The same with XBOX game pass. Imagine what would have happened if google's paying modeled worked???

This isn’t like a movie or a single game title where the opening week sales is a make or break situation. It’s a whole new platform for a company that is making their first dive into the biz and it’s going to take a lot more than one week for them to settle in. Anyone who wasn’t expecting a rocky start and had set their hopes and expectations too high was let down. Calm your tits, people. The game hardware/platform biz is a marathon, not a sprint.

Streaming is the future but for a new comer to come into the gaming space without a library of games like MS, nintendo and Sony then it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realise google has no chance.
Gamers when they are ready to use streaming as a service will choose xcloud and psnow.

Google coming out and streaming first only helps others to further advance their streaming platforms for the future. Google is like a guinea pig for the other companies that want to give game streaming a go. I personally like how I game now but I can see Sony and Microsoft and others heading in this direction someday.
