There are a few reasons why “Death Stranding” might seem like a marketing slam dunk, but few people actually knew what the game was about. Headlines called trailers “weird and confusing,” and fans on message boards were left scratching their heads over where Kojima’s latest could possibly take them.
ARK: Survival Ascended has introduced Premium Mods on consoles. Wccftech talked to Studio Wildcard and their partner Overwolf about the rising importance of user-generated content, especially for live service games.
Following a recent interview with Sony, Naughty Dog head Neil Druckmann claims the original intent was “unfortunately lost” in the process.
Glad he clarified it but i'm still somewhat skeptical. Plus, his comments about how Ai will revolutionize storytelling were still pretty iffy.
Druckmann claims the tech could 'push the boundaries of storytelling in games.'
I’m more interested in what else he said.
“Neil Druckmann says new Naughty Dog title could ‘redefine mainstream perceptions of gaming’
He also said it has "ethical issues we need to address" but of course that doesn't get the clicks.
I’m all for it. Cuts the time to make a game. Look, Hellblade 2 took 5 years to make, if AI can do that in half the time, as a consumer, I support it.
Honestly...they were very honest about the game from the beginning which is all we can ask for.
We saw all the wonderful weirdness story stuff at the reveal, and everyone naturally got hype...then a gameplay trailer at the next major event which showed mostly a character with a door dash-like delivery bag on his back doing an awful lot of walking across terrain and over mountains...the game that shipped is the exact thing they show at that gameplay reveal...it was the gamers that started making excuses for it almost instantly. They said things like "it must be more to it" and "we haven't seen it all yet". It's coming back to bite them in the butt now to realize that's all their was to it. We got exactly what they showed off...what they marketed as was spot on.
Its interesting that it seemed to work for Death Stranding, but I would argue they absolutely bombed their marketing decisions on Days Gone.
That was actually a brilliant game imo, but the marketing of it was so poor imo I almost skipped it entirely. Had to rely on gameplay vids from other players to really get a sense of what it was about.
~24 hours in, still looks brilliant, good job Kojima!
